Fun fact about the birthday security code thing: if you go back and watch the TryChaser's debut in episode 4, 0318 is actually the number Ichijou punches in there too, despite the audience not finding out that's Yuusuke's birthday until it comes up several episodes later for Titan Form's debut.

That's a great tidbit, and I wouldn't expect anything less from this show!

This is a really minor point to make when it didn't end up affecting your reading of all the much more important things going on in this episode, but since I hate letting even the smallest translation errors slip by, I'll note here that 9日後 is actually 9 days later, from the opening fight with Daguva.

Shout's subs for Kuuga are generally *really* well done from what I've seen of them, so it's always strange to me whenever something super simple like that managed to slip by. Ichijou would surely frown upon such sloppy editing! ...but Yuusuke would probably be chill enough to let it slide, so I guess I won't be too hard on them either. :p

Whenever you point out errors in SHOUT's' subs(like here, or with Zero-One), I can't help but think 'Man, Fish Scrubs would be really nice to have."

Like most parts of this project, things did not go as scheduled. I didn't want this to go unfinished any longer, so I cut my losses and just tested some criticisms I enter the rewatch with.

Thank you too for the wonderful essays that helped me rediscover this excellent show. In some ways, your episode analyses were even better for me than rewatching them, as they sometimes confirmed my own thoughts, and in others they allowed me to see the situation in a new way. As for criticism, subjective preferences may vary, but objectively, without Kuuga, all the Heisei and Reiwa riders wouldn't exist. And that alone is a sign of success.

Even if it didn't turn out as ideally as you were hoping, I'm really glad you managed to see this through to the end. Writing about a Rider show episode-by-episode like this, and trying to really go in-depth on each one, that's a huge investment of time and effort, so I can't make it clear enough how grateful I am to have had this opportunity to see Kuuga through someone else's eyes. As a fan of the show, it's really fascinating to see how another fan approaches the same material, and to get a different perspective laid out in such extensive detail is a rare treat.

BTW, I do wanna share that while the Kuuga manga has its share of problems in terms of English translation, perhaps you might be interested with one tweak to the story that Inoue made to it that relates to one of your criticisms. Specifically, spoiler alert, Ichijo becomes Kamen Rider G3.
