I hate that its the way that it is but I would pick up pretty much any SMP kit at $50. They are that good in my eyes. I pretty much stopped building Gundam HGs (but still do RGs).

I recently acquired Sun Vulcan Robo for a reasonable price and its absolutely amazing.

Oh I totally regret the decision :lol I keep hoping I find it again but no luck yet.

Is this an issue with other types of model kits? For example, Moderoid?

ordering GaoMuscle Striker today. This will tell me if I go for GaoKnight

i like it had some minor issues with the black plastic on gao bear but i think i over stressed the plastic

I mean all model kits will climb in price eventually due to scarcity, but because Minipla are either candy toys or P-Bandai, they have no real history of being reprinted. Moderoid kits not only see multiple print runs, but they get re-released every now and then (sometimes with improvements).

It's just a general thing with model kits, as you can't exactly resale them once they are assembled, unlike other toys.

Minipla in particular have just been hitting far above their weight class. For the longest time, Bandai's top notch engineering and plastics have only been found on Gunpla, but now we've been getting Minipla, Figure-Rise, and 30MM kits which are putting other brands to shame.

With the switch to Shokugan Modelling Project branding, Bandai has already said they plan to reprint/re-engineer older kits (GaoKing was arguably the first) so I think aftermarket prices will get better in the long run. Maybe they'll even stop with the candy pieces and make them easier to acquire stateside!

It's how much I enjoy building GaoGorilla that is the dealmaker or breaker for GaoKnight

I had a decent time with him but I think a third round of the GaoKing limbs is gonna be more tedious than relaxing.

GaoKing for ?40 is pushing it. GaoKnight for ?90... how is double the price justified? I know it's PB, and in the end it's just plastic toys and I'm not 'cut up' about it, but still.

you answered it you self it's a p-bandia exclusive so it it has the mark up for that then also the extra mark up of needing a middle man for it

some of the p-bandia gundams get real wild in pricing
