What are you lost on? Kenzaki has to fight the Undead, plain and simple.
|
It's the bits around that which are throwing me off. There's obvious plots (Defeat the undead, find out what unsealed them (Or, what occurred in BOARD that did so, unless I missed something), finding the chief and why Tachibana took him, and whatever Chalice is doing), but it seems like there isn't a story around it all aside from "Undead bad. Kill them."
|
That is why a lot have said you need to get through the first 10 episodes for things to start moving. I personally thought the show was good from the first episode throughout (well, there are two bad episodes due to how goofy they are), but a lot did not.

Just about to watch Accel's debut on W. Since I started this series I've been thinking pretty much all the way through "okay this is good, but I don't know if its as good as people make out" and then when the last two episodes with Kirihiko happened it really hit me how good W is.
I get the feeling its only going to get better from here too :D |

Well, I just finished Kuuga and I feel... underwhelmed. I mean, the last episode itself was great because it was a nice thought out epilogue, but what the hell happened in 47 and 48? Fourty-seven starts out who knows how long after the ending of 46, which really throws you off, but the final battle was so lackluster. "Let's have the final villlain, who has absolutely no development at all in the series, have a punching fight with Yusuke in the snow and then end it with them falling over. No choreography, no in suit action, not even a rider kick or an explosion. Oh, and in the mean time, the Rose Lady, who has been in the series since the beginning, gets killed by a bullet, making her the most useless character in the entire series. Yes, this is the best idea we can come up with." WHAT THE FLYING ****?! Talk about a way to leave the final episode of a great series lacking. Except for those two episodes, the show was very great. I enjoyed the designs, the Grongi were well done, I liked the whole game concept, but damn, you would think Japan would barely have anyone left alive to live there after this. The characters were great, interesting, and funny. They were well thought out and really added to the show and to Yusuke's character. However, since it is in similar tone, I do have to say I think Agito is the better of the two series, because I just think the development of Shuichi tramples the development of Yusuke by miles. Yusuke was pretty much the same guy through the entire series, but Shuichi's amnesia really helped his character stand out. Not to mention Gills helped to add a bit of variety to the way the battles were played out over the course of the series. With just Kuuga, sometimes, the battles got a little boring because he would use the same attacks over. It was also weird seeing him get his last form in the second to last story arc, and then he didn't even actually doing anything with it. Once again, I enjoyed the series a lot, I can see why it made Kamen Rider popular again, but the little things really drag it down a notch. I give it a 3.5/5 stars.
Oh yeah, and I watched Episode 46.5, thinking that would bridge the gap of what happened inbetween 46 and 47. NOPE!! It is just another clip show. |

You must also remember that, for a great many, Double was their 2nd Kamen Rider series. Quote:
If you feel that there is nothing redeemable about the series past the titular character, then whatever. |

The lack of Yusuke and N-Daguva-Zeba's first fight is a legit complaint, though. I don't think anybody saw episode 47 and didn't think "wait, did I miss an episode?" I get that it was probably some kind of budget constraint issue, but it still sucked. I don't think it takes away from Kuuga's overall awesomeness, though. |

well i like alot of things, the designs are awesome and the guy with the backscratcher are hilarious, its just like... can that alone carry a series. the detective work and solving the mystery was like trying to find waldo on a page were all u could see was waldos face. terui is annoying and he found his perfect wife, the most annoying girl in history. plus since its SO dependent on the 2 part story thing its like u could put all the two parters in a pile mix them up and put them in any order and there wouldnt be a story problem, the only thing that changes is the sonozaki family and by way, WORST. VILLIANS. EVER. |

Or Doctor Maki. Yeah, I went there. |

huuuuuuhhhhhhh!!!!! how dare u use the great name of maki in vain! |

Still love Maki. One of the most evil and badass rider villains ever. That being said I also was bored to tears by the Sonozaki family. Other than Kirihiko I could take or leave them.

im just gonna say it, if kai from den-o beats u in villianry, give up |
Hell, even I'll admit that Kai was awful but still somewhat more interesting than the Sonozakis.

As for W, the reason I love it so much is because of the Sonozaki family. They are some of the best developed villains I have seen in any Kamen Rider series since probably Black. They were flawed because they were human. They were sympathetic, because they were human. They were terrifying, because they were human. |
The Sonozaki family are excellent. I'd probably hate them if it were based on design alone (tbh very few of the Dopant designs do anything for me. Dunno if that's because I've been spoiled by Fourze or what) but their development and characterisation lets me get past that really easily.
|
Ryube is awesome. He is the best old evil villain around. But his daughters are annoying and useless. Yes they were powerful but that had horrible designs and weren't terribly impressive in a fight. The Terror design was truly terrifying and the Nasca design was truly awesome but those are really the only ones I cared for. I still think Nasca should have come back down the road as a new rider for the series. He loved Fuuto so much. And the damn family cat being a commander? For gods sake.

http://plamoya.com/bmz_cache/8/81073...ge.500x500.jpg which is one of the most amazing Kamen Rider designs ever? The head is just down right amazing. The skull on the shoulder is incredible. It was this design alone that got me back into Kamen Rider, because this design got me wanting to watch W when I first saw it earlier this year. This design looks like something out of a Persona game. Hell, it looks like something out of a Marilyn Manson video (when he had talent). |

I kinda feel this way about W too. I am enjoying it way more then decade but I certainly found myself more invested in Den-o , Fourze and OOO's.

Also, on episode 6 of Blade. It's...Progressing, I guess. |

Invisible Dopant was easily the best looking one.

I'm about to wrap up Decade with All Rider VS Dai-Shocker followed by Movie War 2010. Not sure where I should go from there. Leaning towards starting on Ryuki, but part of me wants to rewatch W. |
Go Ryuki man. You can't go wrong with that one at all. If you haven't seen it then I highly recommend it. Plenty of interesting characters and rider designs.

As for the Zodiarts, while I will say they are better looking that than Yummys and Greeed, I definitely think the Dopants are superior. |
Ehh, I'm upto episode 22 and the only Dopant that's even come close to looking as good as a Zodiart is Triceratops. That's just me though, and I suppose Dopants don't have a common theme to them like Zodiarts do so its a bit more varied.
|
I love Double, but the Greeed look WWAAAAAY better than any Dopant. Yes, Terror, Taboo, Nasca, Utopia, they're all great, but aside from those, all the Zodiarts look much better, and the Fangire from Kiva are also superior designs, as are most Imagin.
In fact, of all the Kamen Riders I've seen, I'd say the Dopants are the weakest designs, in my opinion. |
