Saw this shot rewatching Movie War Ultimatum and only just realized after a decade that Kamen Rider Meteor's shoes have his logo worked into the design.
https://i.imgur.com/0EqvntJ.jpg Or maybe it's something I used to know and just forgot about somewhere over the years, but endearingly silly details like this are the kind of thing that usually sticks with me once I notice them! |
The Meteor suit in general is just genius in terms of design, which makes it such a shame that Meteor Storm is so lackluster in comparison.

Meteor is so cool and could have easily been the star of his own series, no pun intended. Meteor Storm was a travesty. It feels like the designer of Meteor knew they couldn't logically top the base suit and just phoned in a very obvious upgrade.
Usually when I don't like a Rider suit, I convince myself I'll like it far far into the future. Like how I've finally come around to liking the Blade suit. But I still think Meteor Storm is mediocre. |
I think it's the colours that ruin it.

I just never understood the helmet. Is it supposed to be two meteors colliding? How are their two trails going in different directions?
Also clear yellow always looks cheaper than clear blue, and Storm's helmet looked especially plastic and toy-like. I think if they had swapped the yellow/gold for a light bluish silver and clear white, making the whole suit an overall brighter version of his base form, it'd look a lot better. |
Or if they made the base suit white and the yellow parts orange, like an explosion.
|
To add insult to injury, Meteor Storm's pull string top thing is the silliest and worst weapon upgrade in Rider
|
I wasn't going to chime in but now I have to.
Here to slide in to say that Meteor getting a pole shaft in which the finisher for it is letting loose a cosmic Beyblade against the opponent? One of the coolest things in Rider hands down. |

The X-X-X-V flying at the Gokaigers, forming their suit during transformation is, well, the roman numeral XXXV aka 35. Because they are the 35th Super Sentai.
Yes I did only realize this just now. https://i.imgur.com/gDXBhgq.gif |

Indigo League is now the longest series I've watched to date Toku or Anime with 82 episodes
with 31 yet to watch. (Single year of a series.) Sailor Moon will beat that with 200 episodes after I finish Sailor Stars. 2nd longest for me is Kaku with 53 episodes for one series. (All seen on Shout Factory DVD.) What's your longest Anime or Toku Series episode count wise? |

I know that this is a topic for hidden messages from tokusatsu authors, not their mistakes, but still I had to write this somewhere...

This might be more of an observation than a realization, but couldn't one argue that Hurricanger are mass murderers of civilians since they blew up Bero-Tan (Slob Goblin in Ninja Storm) in Ep. 29 BEFORE he was enlarged and they used the Karakuri Stamp to free his "human stamp" victims!?
Basically, none of the letters in Bero-Tan were restored when he was defeated as a human-sized villain, but they were when he grew. Does this mean that all those burned in the flames of Bero-Tan's first death were ultimately "revived" and "saved" by Jakanja (and standard Sentai tropes)? Another instance is in Zyuranger Ep. 7 with Dora Goblin (Gnarly Gnome in Mighty Morphin') when he fed on the hearts/souls/minds of children, got blown up, enlarged, and blown up again! His victims also weren't saved until he became a giant, which means if Bandora decided not to make him grow, then these kids might have died! Sad to think about, I know. In short, Sentai Tropes jeopardize and save people! Villain Factions cause problems and unintentionally solve those same problems. |
I was just reminded of "Kiramei-KING!", and only belatedly realized that this is the catchphrase of an artist, so "Kira-MAKING!" would seem way more appropriate.

But still - obvious realization, hence why I posted it here, it's so obvious but I just didn't notice it immediately ;) |

So I just learned as I was posting on another thread that Hayato Tani who was Commander Sugata in Maskman, or that guy who floats in the Maskman opening credits, was in the original run of Takeshi's Castle aka MXC. And he's reclaiming his spot for the reboot.

I was noting the most ever episodes watched for one year of a single series of the Super Squadron franchise.
|
All the Faiz reveal stuff that happened recently is because of what I like to think of as the toku stars aligning for Faiz. Because this year's Children's day in Japan, which is on May 5th every year, was on the 5th year of the Reiwa era and this year also happens to be the 20th anniversary.

In Geats, Keiwa randomly gets a silver and blue helmet when he uses the Command Twin forms.
This was because normally they film his rider form with a blue-screen background and chroma-key him into certain scenes, because his rider form has a lot of green on it. But with the Command Twin armor, this would normally result in him having blue and green on him, so they couldn't blue or green-screen him for scenes now. So they made the helmet silver and blue so they would only need to use a green-screen for filming him with that armor. |

Kamen Rider Nago's real name Neon has been nodding to how she isn't real just like how neon lights are a synthesized form of light. I always thought it was just wordplay on the word neko but it all clicked all of a sudden.
|
I don't know if it's obvious or obscure, but Geats had a pretty neat callback to an action-shot from the first episode during the final form but.

Decided to post this here, cuz it fit so well;
Gotchard's chest is a Steam Train/Liner. https://news.tokunation.com/wp-conte...r-Gotchard.jpg Yes, it took me this long to notice... His "pecks" are the sides of the Smokebox, the clear orange bit is the furnace you shovel coal into, the cylindrical bit on his sternum is the chimney, and his scarf is the smoke that comes out of it. |
I can't believe it took me this long to realize that the Twin breaker is inspired by a drill bit. Or a screwdriver, I dunno, I'm leaning more towards screwdriver because that seems to fit in with the whole tool motif the Sclash driver has.

https://i.imgur.com/LA7qwax.png This has been staring me in the face for 25 years and knowing what I know about the production crew of YST, I am convinced it is not coincidence. |
