Africa Salaryman, the anime that answers what happens when Zootopia got an anime makeover and married The Office. The main three are the Toucan who is pretty much a troll, Lizard who is probably the most normal out of the trio, and Lion, the gentleman-like supervisor who is a nice guy but because he is a lion scares people at first glance. Oh, and their boss is an old turtle voiced by Akira Ishida. And the Lion is Akio Otsuka aka Champ from Kyuranger, Lizard is voiced by Kanjiro Tsuda aka Redyue from Gaim, and Toucan is voiced by Hiro Shimono aka Zenitsu from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba.

Today I learned there was an alternate version of "Oh No You Didn't" from Mercenaries 2, sung by Peter Stormare.

Finished Episode VIII The Last Jedi today. Now to see how the 9 film Skywalker saga ends in a few days.

(I totally loved The Last Jedi, but it's hard to say that on the internet without things getting uncomfortable, so I try to avoid talking about it. But I'm glad other people liked it!)

Yeah, I liked it too! Toku's kinda filled my personal niche of 'cool live-action drama' but TLJ's one of those Star Wars movies that comes damn close to nailing it. Love a lot of what it set out to do, loved the messages, cinematography is just gorgeous in some places. There's some flaws, sure (can Phasma PLEASE have, like, a reason to be a character) but overall it was a pretty good star war

I like The Last Jedi for doing something original than doing another rehash. I think the movie would have been way better if they remove most of the filler out of the movie. The Casino stuff in the movie was pointless and added nothing to do with the movie. I don't think it's a great movie, but at least it is watchable.

I'm still sick of Star Wars in general and I didn't bother to see Rise of Skywalker. Star Wars has been over saturated for the last 20+ years now, I feel sick in my stomach when I see anything with Star Wars slap on to it (The Mandalorian is the very rare exception).

I'll even defend the Canto Bight stuff! It goes on a little long, but I thought it did a great job of reframing the endless Rebels/Empire-style conflicts as something a larger galaxy indulges because it's making them money. In a movie that's all about deconstructing narratives and making people see outside of their stories, it's a great lesson about the larger stories that are going on while the heroes and villains are waging their wars. I mean, you could argue its effectiveness (most people hated it, so, uh, clearly needed some work), but I'd say it's got a definite reason to be there.

I didn't hate it, and in fact it's one of my favorite subplots, but it was just very weirdly paced in an already cluttered movie.

Oh, for sure. The fact that so much of the film is this tense They're Right On Our Tail chase thing, and then there's this plot with a casino and DJ and whatnot, it can feel jarring. It's a huge ask, pacing-wise, to have a movie-long chase sequence that characters can leave and come back to, and that can make the side-plots... it can definitely feel disposable. It wasn't until after a few watches where I started to appreciate what it was saying. Structurally, though, it's hard to make it feel sewn in to what else is going on.

I really enjoy Last Jedi, both visually and for what it's trying to say as a movie, but my bigger wonder here is that somehow we're a page into Star Wars discussion and I haven't had to use my big book of "How not to get angry at the pixels on the screen" yet. This is a good sign.

Mark your calendars: Today was the day that a group of people, from all over the world, came together in a thread on a message board to talk about Star Wars and stayed civil. Legends were born today. I'm not looking at the members of the TokuNation forums, I'm looking at the heroes of the TokuNation forums.

Whether the movie was good or bad, that Double Rider moment Rey and Kylo had was boss.

I've never been a Star Wars fan.
I've seen all the movies (Barring the latest one), but I never considered myself a fan. Don't really care about it. I enjoy the spectacle, sometimes the plot can be gripping, but as a whole, it's just never been a franchise that I've connected with.

So with that said, I honestly can't really see why there's so much vitriol over the Last Jedi. I felt it was just a fun action movie. Weirdly paced, but it was nice. A decent subplot, a tense main plot, and just an overall good time.

And yet, if you bring it up, people talk about how it ruined a franchise that, I feel has been mediocre at best since Return of the Jedi...

That... about sums it up. Your entire internal timeline is thrown off by how much is realistically happening: The Resistance is at best cruising for 12 hours, meanwhile about a week is passing on Anch-to, and then you have the events on Canto Bight.

I mean time being relative, it's not impossible for all of this to be happening within the span of the few hours the Resistance was on the run, but it is... A LOT to reconcile at once. Compare the similar situation in ESB, where we have two sets of events to focus on at once and thus it is much easier to get one's head around.

When it comes to Star Wars, I stick with the original 3 movies (non-special editions), the 2003 Clone Wars show, and several old EU books & games. I lost interest in Star Wars after 2007ish because of franchise burn out. Even after the prequels, you had those annoying Star Wars parodies from Family Guy and Robot Chicken. At that point, I was like "Can we give this series a rest please".

Seeing how Rise of Skywalker flopped at the box office they maybe, just maybe, lay off the films for a bit.

Also flop is a relative term here in regards to other Star Wars films

I watched Verotika last night and it was bad. It's so bad, that it was funny.

For me, I pretty much just stick with the first six films, the 2003 Clone Wars series, and a fair amount of the old EU novels and comics myself. I do enjoy most, if not all, of the parodies of the Star Wars franchise from Robot Chicken though. I seriously cannot, in good conscience, get into anything Disney has done with it.

It was actually the Robot Chicken parodies that gave me any sense of interest in Star Wars :lol

Star Wars is a franchise that will go on forever until the human race is completely dead. Same with Marvel, DC, Pokemon, The Simpsons, etc.

The movies keep alive the franchise not just video games, animated shows and toys.

Star Wars X if it ever happens should just be a totally different beast only hinting at the previous 9 films here and there during trivial dialogues or a b-roll footage scene. They should ditch the force and bring in stand battles as the next big thing. Just JJBA it up. :lolol
