Started watching Timeranger.
Infinitely more interesting than Abaranger's beginning, I'll tell you what. Fun, a little fast paced, but eh, it doesn't bother me as much here, so I'm down. |
Just watched episode 11 of Gekiranger.
So I was pretty sure there was a reason I hadn't watched an episode of this in like a month. Turns out the reason...was elephants. |
Just started my first "Sentai" show with Zyuohger. I only watched the American versions growing up, so I'm excited to see a Sentai series in its original intent. I'm really digging the series and after initial zord shock, I learned to appreciate their cube animals quite a bit. Starting ep 13 now. I'm an addict!

Zyuohger is a really enjoyable series! Tons of fun with great characters!

Putting ToQger on hold right now.
Watching Kyoryuger, then Ninninger, while binge-ing LuPat on the side. |
Got the Shout Factory boxset for Carranger for 20$. I've seen Power Rangers Turbo. I've seen other Sentai. I've seen clips on youtube. I thought I was prepared. I was wrong. NOTHING CAN PREPARE YOU!
|
I've watched up to episode 3 of Bioman and episode 20 of Kakuranger. Love the visual effects in both, but both feel pretty bland in the character and story.
Especially hate in Kakuranger, how every new weapon seems to be acquired as Deus ex Machina. Plus, 20 episodes in, I still mix up Red/Blue/Yellow. Just finding it pretty bland. Is it worth pushing through and watching more of either? I know Kakuranger changes things up a bit shortly. |
I say it's worth continuing in Kakuranger.
|
I started on Carranger today. I'm about 10 episodes or so in, and while I am enjoying it, so far I think Kakuranger was funnier honestly. I might not have gotten to the good stuff yet though.

Finally got around to something I’ve wanted to do for awhile now: giving Boukenger a second chance. I tried to watch it a few years ago, but couldn’t get past the low quality of the TVN subs (my breaking point was a line translated as “I’m brimming with earnestness!” No. Just no. That’s not how you English). Now that there’s another option I’m trying it again and really liking it so far. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels more adult than a lot of the shows we’ve gotten lately (except for Natsuki. Again, no. That’s not how you person). Looking forward to hopefully making it all the way through this time.

Aside from Lupin vs. Pat I'm not really watching a Sentai at the moment; after marathoning Gokaiger through Kyuranger I jumped on the Kamen Rider train and never got off. After I finish up Ex-Aid though I'm thinking of giving another series a shot so I'm curious to see what you guys would recommend out of:-
-Go-Onger -- RPM is the only Power Rangers series I've watched so I think this would be EXTREMELY interesting just to see how different these shows infamously are compared to most Sentai/PR adaptions. Not to mention it's getting a Returns movie this year so that would give me a nice extra to look forward to. -Shinkenger -- I've heard praises sung about this series and its characters; I've heard its team-up movie with Go-Onger is the shining example of how good a Sentai team-up movie can be; just in general I've heard so much good about this series. From a Western perspective I'm also kind of interested to see, even if it IS a children's show; just how someone from its country of origin handles samurai themes rather than someone from the west not directly familiar with and entrenched in the culture stumble about with them. -Goseiger -- gonna be honest, this is on the list purely because I've heard it's bad and I'm morbidly curious. Though I also remember liking Goseired when I saw him in Gokaiger vs. Goseiger. Talking of which, seeing that movie again after would be a very nice bonus no matter how badly the series itself turns out. |
Five episodes into Boukenger. It's weird; I know I made it further than this on my first attempt, but I do not even slightly remember the episode with Pink chasing after the little boy.
|
Started watching Goranger tonight with the first two episodes.
That was wild. |
Has Gorenger been subbed in full?

I started watching toqger, The show is awesome, the villians are gorgeous and whomever is in charge of SH figuarts needs to make a nero and schwartz figure right now. Holy hell are those suits impressive.
I can relate to tv nihon being complete and utter garbage. They are similiar to saban's power rangers: Worthless garbage that should have never existed. |

annuga, all tv nihon subs are bad.
They are bad because they are tv nihon subs. They can't make a good sub even if they tried and if they really should give up already since they clearly can't be bothered to put the effort in to translate everything. |

Call me paranoid if you will, but they shouldn't be subbing anything even if they have improved. |
I finished Timeranger (yeah, didn't wait for Shout, sorry), and hoo boy that was good. Puts Time Force to shame, they literally copied exact shots from the Sentai! I loved the characterization done for everyone, especially for Domon, Shion, and Ayase since I didn't recognize it from the Power Rangers version. Domon's relationship with Honami was very cute and his arc about not latching onto his era was well done and developed. The same goes to Ayase's Osiris Syndrome, which is especially sad since he'll probably die soon in the future he helped create. Shion is just the man, that's all (his hometown episode is good too). I liked Yuuri's backstory, which helped flesh out Don as a villain and gave her a compelling reason to not want to go back to the past with the rest of the team. The captain being a mirrored version of Tatsuya was done much better than Alex by wanting to change his tomorrow, but selfishly, was a lot better than Alex's nothing. However, I like Ransik and his redemption better than Donero and I like Mr. Collins better than Mr. Asami because of his fight with Ransik and his more hands on attitude. The best change in Time Force would have to be Eric, he actually gets redeemed, whereas Naoto dies before getting redemption. I know that's part of his character, finding out that chasing power won't let you see the end, but I rather his character be redeemed than just accepting the fate that he put himself on. A smaller nitpick though, I wish the Timeranger actors could cry tears because the Time Force actors could, and it made the finale scenes so much more powerful, even if the narrative wasn't as good as the Sentai. All-in-all, Timeranger is the best Sentai I've watched, I'll be happy to accept recommendations on similar Sentais.

Yeah, timeranger has to be one of the best sentai series I have seen. Abaranger and gogofive probably top it at times though.
I have seen gokaiger and I honestly thought it sucked. |
I have been watching kyuranger and honestly, its rather good. Lucky is a bit of a gary stu and a loud moron, but the rest of the cast makes up for it.
Yamato was also a gary stu but he was actually awesome |

Last I checked, yamato got ALL the power ups. That seems pretty gary stu to me.
He also was the only one with his own weapon and was the only human until the 6th ranger showed up. I haven't seen zyuohger in a while, will go back and check it though. I still think yamato is one of the best reds we have had in ages and tohei really needs to stop making them obnoxious assholes. It will backfire in the future if they don't offer some more variety. |

On an unrelated note, I just finished episode 16 of Boukenger. I still don't like the Bouken Jet mech. Something about it always looks a little out of place next to all of the other Gogo Vehicles. As someone who is unfortunate enough to have seen Operation Overdrive, I was definitely caught off-guard when Ragi didn't turn out to be Bouken Silver. I think that's the first time when Power Rangers knowledge actively worked against me. |
Like I said, sort of a gary stu, not one completely.
Lucky is one, but hes not egregious enough to really dispise. I must say though, evil naga was awesome, for the longest time I thought the actor was licking his changer when he did his henshin. Calling his weapon a sickle irks me. |

So I binged throught the first 10 episodes of Lupin/Pat over the last couple of days, because I got life-d and didn't watch them as they came out. And, while I'm liking it, is it supposed to feel so... Lupinranger, feat some other bois? Like, the Pats get some focus, but they feel almost like an afterthought. It's like someone made a team of Kyurangers out of Spada, Garu, Hammy, Raptor and Kotarou. I like them, but I want to see more! That's not to say I don't like the Lupins, except I just like the Pats a little more.
|
You're not alone in feeling that the Pats kind of get the shaft in story relevance and screen time.

Currently watching Kakuranger for the first time. Just finished the two-parter where they introduced the Flowery Kunoichi Team. Overall the show's been quite slow so far, but hopefully the story will pick up.
|
So, Lupin-Pat, episodes 11-15. Overall, I think I'm starting to get into the groove with this series. The balance is slowly improving, and the Pats got their big two-parter, which was cool. I still think there could be a little more effort to integrate the teams, at least a little, given we're a quarter into the show, but I can live with it.

I feel the story picks up big time around when they get scrolls for Kakure Daishogun.

Just wrapped up watching Carranger, it was a pretty nice experience overall. I was really not feeling it for the first half or so due to the humor stupendously falling flat for me the majority of the time. I was nervous it would be a repeat of Den-O where there was a show that many people considered really funny but I didn't. After that though, the humor somehow shifted in a manner that made me really enjoy it and frequently laugh out loud. The ending somehow managed to be legitimately cool, and of course the little "where are they now?" epilogue was perfect (I love Gynamo working at a Barbecue restaurant). Both the heroes and villains were highly entertaining characters, there was a good team dynamic with the Carrangers, and on the rare occasion that the show did something more serious I tended to like it! I am honestly kind of shocked, but I was 200% into the ridiculous romantic subplot between Kyosuke and Zonette, which almost never happens with romantic subplots and me. I do feel that the show might have benefited from being a touchhhh more serious though, would have made the funny moments even funnier. Great fun overall, I'll be moving onto Megaranger when I do Sentai next.
I also watched the Ohranger vs. Carranger crossover, which was somehow even more hilarious than Carranger itself was. |
I watch Kyuranger vs Space Squad. Good movie with great action scenes. Reminds me Capitain America Civil War . The four villains ( Mele, Fuwa Juuzo, Basco and Scape) stay bad ass. Chameleon green is so cute . The second pos credit scene is very very awesome , dudes !
