I'm a little past the halfway mark on Boukenger. I'm continually amazed at how this show can give us both what might be the best female Sentai team member ever (Sakura, the ultra competent badass with relatable social interaction problems) and what is undoubtedly the worst (Natsuki, the insufferable burikko moron).
I officially apologize to whatever GoseiPink's name was (Eri?): you were a cake-prioritizing dumbass, but you have nothing on how terrible Natsuki is. |
Finished watching Ressha Sentai ToQger. At first I thought it's too childish because of the suits and I hate it, but it surprisingly enjoyable and fun. I still hate the suits, though. I love to see their friendship and how they interact with each other.
Right is the brightest one and surprisingly he is capable to be a good leader too. Tokacchi is sometimes the negative one and he is my least favorite. I like how careful he is when he critique his friends. Mio is the sister of the group and she is the one who put the group together. Hikari is the brain of the group. Kagura is kinda like the youngest among them because of her behavior. Akira is a serious guy but also the funniest guy. I love how Akira acts as the five's bodyguard. I love the interactions between Kagura and Hikari especially when they were trapped inside a doll house. They looked like actual brother and sister. The villains is just typical villain who wants to rule the world and fails. I don't like the main villains. Nero, Noire(I forgot how to write her name), and Mork is just loud and annoying (even Zett thinks so). Schwarz is always act on his own and selfish. Zett is too passive despite being the emperor and selfish too. His obsession with sparkly things is just wierd. The only villain I like is Glitter (she isn't really a villain though). There are a bunch of things that I don't understand. I don't understand what Zett really is. The rainbow line president (the bunny guy) said that Zett is Right but I don't understand what he meant by that. And I don't understand the explanation of why Right was on shadow liner and why Right emitted darkness. I can't enjoy the final episodes since after the misunderstanding with Akira cleared when he joined Schwarz because of this. In the end of the show the ToQgers except Akira become children again but didn't the president said that they can't become children again if they continue to be ToQger. I know it was their imagination power that make them become children again but that just make the moment when they determined to continue to become ToQger pointless. Overall I enjoyed this show from the beginning until the middle but the end of the show is just confusing. |
I have tried to watch sentai or PR, but maybe that's my problem. I don't like PR. I've started to watch Lupinranger vs Patranger and I like it. If there's any other series that are similar, I'd like to get some recommendations. I usually like a good story and cute girls. I watched some Engine Sentai 10 year Grand Prix movie and I thought it was ok and maybe I'd like to get into more sentai.
Some of it could be that I'm from Hawaii and Japanese culture is bigger than it is here in Las Vegas and I miss that. I liked watching Japanese tv shows while I grew up there. Whether it's a drama, toku, or one of those shows that tours all over Japan and showing what it's like in different parts of Japan e.g A one hour episode about a fishing village and fisherman doing their jobs and a few restaurants showcasing the cuisine of the area and how they use the type of fish (sushi, cooked dish, etc) that is abundant in their area. |
Is Magiranger any good?

Started Timeranger. Liking it so far, but I've stalled out again.
Lost interest in Kakuranger about halfway through. Ninjaman is... Not great. Is it worth finishing? |
So watched a few episodes of Gingaman and GoGo V with my friends Sunday.
They thought Gingaman was interesting, but weren't hugely into the heroes, and didn't realize the Gingabeasts would roboticize before becoming the Megazord, and couldn't figure out how that was going to work. We didn't get far enough either. GoGo V... The loved it. They just loved the miniature effects work for the mecha, they are liking the dynamics for the two families, and one of them just feels like he's a kid again because of the sound effects. We'll probably focus on finishing that one first. |
Gingaman isn't really anything too special, really.
|
Welp. I've done it. I've chosen to watch Ninninger. Looks like a more 'fun' oriented season judging by the comedy gags. Mechs are surprisingly cool and I'm interesting in the Rangers other than yellow who got a bad first impression and Takaharu. Holy shit it did NOT take long to see why people hate this guy lmao

Which might be a bit odd if we get to Timeranger, since Timeforce seems to be been a better series in some people's opinions. |

I'm at episode 14 of Ninninger. Y'all keep saying this is hot trash but it has an episode with a lesson about anxiety lots of adults never seem to learn. Like, holy shit I have never seen any other kid show tackle this subject

Is zyuogher worth it? I have been meaning to watch it but honestly, all I remember about it was yamato being a really damn good red ranger
|
I think it is. It's not the most compelling story, but it's just a nice show with great characters.
|
I'm at episode 9 of Den-O and want to stop. I recently binged Blade and 555s in 3 days each and feel like Den-O has too much comedy and not enough action for me.
|
Just watched Kyuranger Vs Space Sheriffs, specifically because Mele.
It was just...More Kyuranger. I dropped the series before Red Orion and Houoh Soldier were introduced, but it was still easy to follow. ...Yeah, Mele was great. I would've liked the Kyuranger vs Kyuranger aspect to have been a bigger deal, but whatever. |

Finished Den-O and Kabuto recently. Kabuto really fizzled out in the last 6 to 10 episodes to me and Den-O finished strong, but I do wish they had the hot chick from the beginning make it all the way to the end. I've heard of the rumors of why she was replaced and Kohana just wasn't the same. I ended up enjoying the comedy with the different taros and I liked Zerenos and Deneb a lot.

Picked up the Shout Factory Jetman set at an FYE store in my nearest mall last week. About half way through the season right now.
|
With class over, I’ve been watching Jetman. Gotten through 18 episodes so far, and unfortunately I am not enjoying it as much as I hoped. I don’t know what I expected, but it is somehow even more Inoue than I imagined. I wish I could forcibly stop him from writing the godawful romances he always does.
I like Ako and Grey though, they’re cool. |
Just a few days ago, I finished watching Carranger. So in all, that's me seen all the Saban Entertainment Judd Lynn Sentai's (Carranger-Timeranger)
|
Just watched Liveman episode 17. I haven't watched this series in a LONG time but I was craving some toku, so I figured I'd watch an episode. I forgot almost everything that has happened so far, but it's pretty easy to get back into the swing of things with Sentai. This is also the first time I've watched Liveman since buying the LiveRobo Super Minipla early last year. It's kind of weird, to be honest. I've gotten so much more used to seeing it as a figure than as part of the series, so it was kind of like my toy came to life. I was so tempted to go grab it and play with it while watching the episode :lol
Anyways, the story this time around felt a bit rushed and poorly developed, but Reiko's awesome legs more than makes up for it. Quote:

With Yamato returning in the Super Sentai Strongest Battle special, it made me realize that I never watched Zyuohger Returns, so I did that just now.
Man, do I love the Zyuohgers. Like, such a lovable and fun cast, I can't get enough of them. Seeing Misao fall in love with a Rhino is surreal, but hilarious. Sela finally gets her real match, and Yamato is all around just one of my favorite rangers, so getting to see him again is just great! Man, I love Zyuohger. Even Zyuoh Human came back (Was lowkey hoping Cube Condor would give it's power to him)! This special just brought a smile to my face~ God, Zyuohger, your story telling could use some work, but you're just so damn likable that I'm willing to give you a pass, anyway :lol |
I'm currently watching the Jetman series.
I'm at the Episode 20 and I like it so far. I like how Gai evolves during the season but one thing I'm fond of is the romance.... All the males are all over her except for Ryu that just doesn't show it for the moment... Well there are hints but he still cling on his love for Rie, so that's understandable. That might be one of the darker sentai series I've ever watched tbh. Radiguet saved a girl to instantly kill her at the end of episode 17 if I recall correctly. That was harsh. So yeah, so far, I like the Jetman series. |
Radiguet's turn to humanity just to become even more insane by the end of the episode was one of the better episodes of the series.
I absolutely hated Kaori, though. |
Super Sentai Strongest Battle has gotten me very nostalgic for Zyuohger, so I've been rewatching quite a bit of that lately. It's hard to believe I used to take this show for granted when at this point, even its extremely questionable grasp on how foreshadowing works has become endearing to me.
I don't know, maybe part of it is that it has the same head writer as LuPat, but like, I didn't feel an urge to go back and watch over a dozen episodes of Gokaiger or ToQger just because Marvelous and Kagura came back too, and both those shows are awesome. The weird thing about Zyuohger is that, for no discernible reason, I grow more and more fond of it the more time passes, versus basically every other Sentai I've seen, where my opinion of them is pretty much locked in after the last episode. Not even my well documented love of Yamato is enough to explain it. Or, well, maybe it is? Either way, the important thing here is everything I watched totally held up. It was especially cool getting to watch the 4 episodes that introduce Misao in one sitting. The way the cliffhangers are written means it flows extremely smoothly as one big "movie", which was neat. |
Zyuohger had a lot more heart and character to them, than at least Gokaiger did.
The Gokaigers were nice and all, but just compare Yamato, who goes through an array of emotions, to Marvelous, who is either stoic, or angry and stoic. It's just, like, Zyuohger was made in a way to endear itself to you. Even if the plot wasn't the greatest moving force, the characters were handled a lot better~ |

Marvelous is fine as a character, but he never goes from A to B in terms of characterization. The Gokaigers are all just static. Nothing wrong with them as characters as they are fun characters, but they don't really grow or change. |

I'm currently re-watching Jetman thanks to shoutfactorytv.com which also has Zyuranger, Dairanger, Kakuranger, Ohranger, Carranger, Megaranger, Gingaman, GoGoFive, Timeranger, and Gaoranger in their entirety. Though, I don't get why the website don't have any of the episodes from Hurricaneger despite the season/series clearly got an official release in the US a few months back like the ones I mentioned did.
EDIT: Never mind. Hurricaneger is indeed available to watch on that site. |
Finished re-watching Chojin Sentai Jetman and it is a much better series than I remembered it being the first time I watched it several years back. I'm currently re-watching Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger which is the very first Super Sentai series I watched.
|
I'm on the the last two minutes of the 43rd episode of Zyuranger and I should be able finish the series sometime tomorrow as well as starting up my re-watch of Dairanger.
|
Finishing re-watching Zyuranger and have started re-watching Dairanger.
|
Finished re-watching Dairanger the day before yesterday and I'm already up to episode 9 on Kakuranger.
|
As of today, I am now officially caught up on the episodes I have watched of Kakuranger so far from the last time I saw the series several years back. :D
It's onward to new territory with the final 16 episodes of the series. Thank you, Shout Factory. |
Almost halfway in Timeranger. The villains are the best part of the show to me. They're basically the mafia; only in it for the money. It's so refreshing to have a villainous force which has no interest in world domination/destruction (which is funny considering how I wasn't even born yet when the show aired).
