That's essentially why I enjoyed 2 more, too. The Furious 5 were essentially footnotes in the first film (Sans Tigress), and it was seriously disappointing that they only got 2 or 3 lines each. I did like that they got more to do in the sequel. Shen was just awesome. Tai Lung was alright, but he wasn't threatening (He was presented and talked up as a threat, but the character himself just didn't feel like one).

You're right about Tai Lung. He had an amazing prison break scene, but became a bit more comic relief towards the end.

Shen, on the other hand, may not be that strong or skilled, but was far more evil in character. His obsession with subverting destiny was genuinely scary for me. He was malicious, evil and sadistic.

I finished watching the original X-Men trilogy. I have found that there was at least one scientific inaccuracy in each of them.

X-Men: Logan's healing factor.

When Rogue absorbed Logan's healing factor the second time, Logan's wounds should not have reopened, since they were already healed.

X2: The X-Gene being carried by the father.

All genetic diseases that are linked to the sex chromosomes occur in people because of their mother's genetics. If it was the father that carried the gene, then only males would be mutant, since it would be the Y-chromosome that would carry the gene if the father was responsible for the offspring being a mutant.

X-Men: The Last Stand: The entire nature of the cure.

The cure would have to act on every mutant cell in the body of a mutant in order to function.

Yeah. The prison break was amazing. The climax was anti-climactic.

Shen had this air about him. He was serious, he was angry, he wasn't tragic. Shen did everything right and hit every point for me. I loved him.

I thought the Mutant Gene being carried by the father was just a joke line (Where would Wolverine learn it and why would he care, otherwise?)

And the nature of the cure was implausible from the start, but it's not something I decry. It's a plot device that makes no sense from any perspective (Such as any mutant with a physically different anatomy, such as Angel's wings or Nightcrawler's tail), and how quickly it takes effect (When Beast put his hand near Leech, his fur and claws instantly vanish, and then regrow in mere moments when he backs away. That scene alone makes no sense whatsoever).

Actually, it was Pyro who said it, but whatever.

Yeah, I know. I was bothered by that scene, too, but I grouped that in with the cure.

Oh my god! I just got back from seeing Clockwork Orange at the Alamo Drafthouse and I am not sure if it was because of the big screen or the source, but the movie looked brighter, crisper, and cleaner than even the god damn 40th anniversary Blu-Ray I own. Not to mention there are things I noticed in the background and stuff I had never noticed before. It was great.

The food was a bit pricey though, as we spent $43 for our meal, but just seeing this movie in theaters was well worth it. I want to go back for older movies, but we won't always go there to eat dinner.

And yeah, that's why I let the cure slide. Everything about it makes no sense, from how quick it takes effect, to how the mutant themselves regain their powers moments after the exposure has ended, to blah blah blah.
The 3rd movie was a mess, anyway.

I love and admire the X-Men films, long before that subpar film beginning with A which I will not mention came along, they took a team of a superheroes and built their interesting dynamics and relationships, and their epic battles on screen. It's kinda sad that as the years went on the fandom at large grew more and more hateful toward the franchise, I still think they hold up very well.

I really see no problem with the cure making no sense. If a mutation can give you fully functional retractable claws, the ability to remove other peoples abilites for your own use, frickin laser beams coming out your eyes or weather manipulation even though hereditary mutation doesn't work that way and yet no one cares about the science behind it, I can forgive a MacGuffin's inconsistencies! :lol

But seriously, Beast's powers are the most realistic when it comes to real hereditary mutations, even if his fur is blue. :lol

I actually liked First Class, unless you're talking about Origins :lol

Anyway, I still enjoy X2, it's a fun movie. The problem was that they were well aware of Wolverine's popularity, so they made the movies about him, even when he wasn't part of the plot or originally a bit player in the original story.
I like Wolverine as much as the next guy, but the more interesting stories concerning Nightcrawler and Angel and his father were put on the sidelines to have 2 more Wolverine films disguised as X-Men films, and that's where my anger with the film series stems from.

It's really the speed of both the antidote (Beast's hand immediately loses it's fur and claws when in the vicinity of Leech, who the antidote is derived from), and the mutation (Beast immediately grows the fur back mere seconds later once pulled away from Leech). It's confusing, and makes things more confusing if Magneto's declarations of "Homo Superior" are true and mutants are actually a subspecies, not just a mutation.
But that's getting too scientific.
Why didn't we get the Morlocks in the movies?
