I place interview with Moffat about the night of the doctor
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho...-Of-The-Doctor |
This is a really poorly telerecorded new trailer from New Zealand. In addition to a few new shots is a brief snippet of (I'm presuming) Hurt's TARDIS which seems to be a redressed Tennant's with solid flooring and CLASSIC ROUNDELS! :D
Also, how about that shot of the motorbike riding into the TARDIS? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wcmdZH1mRs |
Reminding everyone that starting Tuesday at 9am EST BBS America will be showing Doctor Who from the Reboot. Rose onward until Saturday.
Tomorrow's also another chance to catch the Doctor's Revisited. Including classic episodes of The First, Four, and Eighth doctors. And a whole new special tomorrow at 10pm. |
Isn't wicker wood? So in the 8th doctor adventures how does eight use his sonic on the wickerman to free himself?
|
Haven't heard the episode but I'd imagine the same logic that means Pinocchio can die from being tasered in OUAT...
One of those things that's best to not think about... That or the sonic screwdriver can rearrange molecules or something... Dues ex and all that. Zeo will probably know though =p |

I was thinking maybe as none of it was real, that rule wouldn't be in place, but the Doctor explains he manipulates molecules with the sonic to weaken the wicker, so I guess not...
Edit: oh, I thought that rule was always there. |
If you wanted an explanation to tie everything together I guess you could go with them not being the same Sonic Screwdriver, but that's the best you'll get out of me :lol
And yeah, the wood thing didn't come around until Silence in the Library (I thought it was The Hungry Earth, but looking it up I see RTD was the one who made it up). |
I had no idea it was so recent!

And then the wood thing is the only weakness they can be bothered to give it :lol |

New video bit up with Lizo on location and there is an interesting scene with Ten and a rabbit.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24983820 Also, don't forget that Doctor Who: The Ultimate Guide is on BBC Three tonight at 8. |
Americans - is the Ultimate Guide worth watching? I was tempted to, but the synopsis didn't make it sound like anything special.
|
This is a new Ultimate Guide, I think. At least the guest stars don't look like any I've seen previously.
Edit: Or maybe not. I seem to be seeing conflicting info on this one. I am a dunce. Either way, I haven't seen it. :D |

Educating myself on past doctor stuff. Just watched the 96 movie.
Pretty good. The American-ness made it feel weird though =p |
Looks like they filmed some new stuff for the Ultimate Guide.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01lrdq8 Jenna-Louise really is adorable. Edit: Apparently, the rumored fantastic minisode, The Last Day, will be on the Day of the Doctor DVDs on 12/2. Curse you UK folks getting that a week before us. Hopefully it won't take long for the YouTube postings. :D |

I'm looking forward to rewatching it, outside the half-human nonsense I don't think it's as bad as people say. |
Well I can't say the half human thing meant a lot to me. I considered it a bit odd, but figured it was something I missed somewhere =p
But yeah, it's certainly not a bad watch. I've seen more recent episodes/2 part-ers that are a lot worse. |
The BBC added a clip from An Adventure in Space and Time to their YouTube channel.

|
I expected that to be extremely negative. I was rather surprised. (But one should never really be surprised by Tennant fangirling.)
|
Last time I stay off here for two weeks. Assorted stuff.
Night of the Doctor: More Paul McGann!! John Hurt!!! Big Finish!!! Paul McGann!!!!! He's my favourite Doctor. What can I say? The Science of Doctor Who: Pretty good and informative, although I'm a little annoyed at how I can't time travel. |
Max Warp was pure genius :D
|
Interview and thought on what they will do with doctor due to he technically got one regeneration left after 12 but the master went past all 13 I wounded what they will do but here a inter with Paul and Colin on the night of the doctor
http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/mcgann-...imit-55594.htm |
Well, the Ultimate Guide didn't turn out to be much. It was worth watching it to hear the dulcet tones of Paul McGann as he discussed the series though. The book-ending clips weren't bad, either.

Just finished Brave New Town, the Autons deserve more stories!
|
I must say, this is one of my favourite themes in Doctor Who:

New introduction for The Day of the Doctor. I'm really looking forward to the fnargs, personally.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01lss29 |
After all the lurking in this thread, and listening to 8 be a Shepard for Auton's, I decided to watch my favourite Doctor from the very beginning.
Three's first adventure is fun, but slow. I know four parts is relatively short as a lot of Three's adventures were in seven parts, but because the Doctor has lost his memory, has been anchored to Earth and is dealing with an annoying bit of regeneration, it takes about three episodes for the serial to get going, then it only has a single episode left. Although man, the final part of this serial is so GOOD. Plus, it isn't really a great serial for Three in general anyway. These episodes bring all sorts of lasting mythos for the Doctor into the fray and explore Regeneration more so than ever before, but that is for The Doctor plural, Three himself does surprisingly little throughout these four episodes. His signature lines are nowhere to be found and there are no kung fu poses. Sure we learn he is a snappy dresser, and is very classy indeed, but then he spends the majority of the rest of the episodes either pretending to do science, chew the scenery or dribble over Caroline John (RIP). If I wanted to sell you on why he is my favourite, this isn't the serial I'd pick, that is for sure. Hell in the end, Liz is really the one who defeats the Nestene, not the Doctor. It's a shame she'll soon just be dropped from the show without a word, she could have been a classic companion. The Auton's are also brilliant, although the budget constraints are obvious throughout the whole thing, the Auton's themselves really haven't aged all that badly. They're meant to be plastic mannequins and that is exactly what they are. They also wrap a good story out of why they are plastic, beyond 'lol it was cheaper that way'. Plus the scene where we get to see the true power of their wrist guns is actually pretty fucking terrifying even now. And as their plan falls into place, they manage to make it feel suitably grand scale, in a very budget constrained way. Just finished the Skull of Sobek, eight adventures season twos worst episode. Man the Headhunters return to the series was so fucking good! |

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a Doctor Who fan. I'm just knowledgeable about a few concepts.
