Eh. Of the series I've seen, I'd rank Dopants at the bottom of the list too, right behind Mirror Monsters.

Also, just finished episode 7 of Blade. Still have no idea what the overarching plot is, but it's getting more exciting, at least.

I think there are a lot worse designs than the Dopants. I like the Greed well enough, but I thought most of the Yummy designs were really weak; the Orphenochs are incredibly bland; Worms never did anything for me; I find the Imagin tend to be way more miss than hit. The Dopants, on the other hand, I generally find really good - not the best monster designs ever, but I like them a lot.

True, the Yummies were all very weak, I've found the Worms to be good enough, better than the Dopants anyway.

I've always thought the Worms were pretty low on the totem pole, mainly because they're all fairly generic, but I'd still rank them over Dopants. Yummies aren't incredibly innovative either but still pretty good looking.

The only villains I've ever really enjoyed are the Zodiarts and Fangires. Of course, X's enemies also had the greatest of comedic values too, but beyond that, I'm interested in heroic designs more than anything.

X had some great monster designs. I liked the ones from the earlier part of the show more, though; the mythological villains, not the criminal ones like Ant Capone or Starfish Hitler.

Oh yes, speaking of monsters, I kind of like the Undead designs. Granted, I'm only 7 episodes in, so this gives ample time for them to disappoint me, but at the moment, the monsters I've seen I really liked how they looked.

It's a shame the quality of the video is pretty much reaching theater camcoder levels...

The Undead are great designs, yeah. Not quite up there with the Unknown, but close.

Well I decided to give Hibiki another try after I stopped around episdoe 15 when it first aired. I made it through the first 10 episodes and so far, it isn't nearly as bad as I once though, but Asumu is still getting on my nerves. Every freaking episode something stupid happens that makes him a depressed baby. This dude is like the original emo, only without dressing the part. Anyway, Hibiki himself is kinda cool, and I love Taiko drums, so hearing them played in this show is pretty awesome, Ibuki is all right, he has a trumpet though, and I am not a trumpet person, so he really isn't my thing. I forgot he was played by the actor who played Mamoru in Sailor Moon though, which is cool. On the other hand, the Makamou are the worst Kamen Rider monster designs ever. Not to mention they have some of the worst effects. The battle against the crab has got to be the worst CGI ever from any of these shows. The problem is, outside of the giant monkey and turtle, they look so freaking fake that it pulls you out of the show a bit. And the male/female combo is the same thing every episode, with really bad costume designs.

Overal thus far, like I said, not as bad as I once thought, so it is not the worst KR I have ever seen anymore, but it has a lot to fix if it wants to be better than "meh."

Anyway, I've finished episode 9 of Blade. It's starting to pick up. Tachibana's little story arc is progressing nicely (And he was just captured by who I'm assuming is the Peacock Undead, so I'm curious as to what happens next), and I'm liking Kenzaki.
That said, they're really getting their mileage out of the "Shattering Tachibana" clip. I think I've seen it 6 times now...

Yeah, there are a few slips you will see several times in the show.

The thing about Hibiki is that it wasn't meant to be a conventional Rider show. The main plot wasn't about monsters, it was about Asumu learning to become a more self-confident man through his association with the Oni. As the show goes on he does get better and more... well, I suppose "useful" isn't the word, but more mature, at least. And then, of course, it all goes to hell in the second part of the show and he devolves into nothing but a mopey buttmonkey who stands there and lets Kiriya insult him.

And people wonder why I hate Toshiki Inoue.

Anyway, if you want to see what Hibiki was originally meant to be, check out Daimajin Kanon sometime. It's pretty much what Hibiki would have been without Toei's interference (and a female lead instead of a male one, as the producer and writer got tired of the "why isn't Asumu fighting?" complaints). It's also a really awesome show that I think everyone needs to check out.

I don't know. I don't know if I can handle another emo child that stalks the hero of the series series.

However, the face on that stone in the trailer looks familiar.

It's actually the other way around, the hero stalks her. And she cheers up progressively through the course of the show.

And the head probably looks familiar because Daimajin was originally a trilogy of films from the 1960s. That or maybe because it's my avatar. :p

All your avatar makes me want to do is watch that Samurai Jack episode with Robo-Samurai. I'm pretty sure it's a homage to the same thing.

Daimajin? Weren't those movies about a stone god that had to save this village from bandits every freaking time? It was like the most useless village ever and it was done by the people who did Gamera. If so, I've seen those. The first one was good, but the other two, not so much.

Finished 2 more episodes of Blade, having just watched ep 13. The Spider Undead is making rounds and now Chalice is back in the plot. Also, Mutsuki showed up!
Also, I must say, I'm a fan of the Undead designs. Color wise, I really like their palate vs the against Fourze's Zodiarts (Which seem almost drab in comparison).

Kamen Rider Blade episode 15. That was so good! I don't even know what else to say!

So I just watched Hibiki episodes 13-20 and I still have mixed feelings about the show. I am really getting sick of battles in the forest and on the rocky beach, so the episode in the city was a nice change, but still. I'm also not sure what I think about there being two guitar Onis. It seems excessive when there are so many more instruments out there. Hell, I would have loved to have seen a violin bow and arrow weapon or something.

Fortunately, Asumu seems to have chilled out a little bit, especially now that he is working at the restaraunt. Oh, and is Zanki played by the same guy that played him in Decade (who is also the wolf in Kiva)?

It gets better. A lot better.

Anyway, we just watched the Fourze OOO (W) movie and my god, that was freaking awesome. I don't care what anyone says, but that has got to be the best Kamen Rider movie I have seen since Episode Final, and it was even better than that. It was well written, well thought out, and outside of two scenes, I have nothing to complain about. I hope they have whomever wrote this thing write all of the movies from now on, because someone knew what the hell they were doing. The action was great, the comedy was funny, and the story was interesting. There was not a dull moment in it at all, and that is the first for me in a long time. Usually I am looking at the clock around the 45 minute mark. Not to mention having Foundation X the main bad guys of the movie rocked. I wonder if they are going to save them for the cross over movies from now on instead of having them be the main bad guys in the actual series (which would make sense since they are more like investors trying to take over the world rather than actually getting their hands dirty if they can avoid it).

Anyway, enough of my typing, I am heading off so we can start watching episode 21 until we get tired.

i agree, megamax is the best kr movie, period.

Personally, I liked Let's Go more than Megamax, but it's easily a close second.

Anyway, damn, at this rate Blade might slide into top 3 for series I've seen (Currently it's OOO, W, Kiva).

Yeah, Blade is a fantastic show. The start is pretty slow, but once it gets rolling it's really fun. When I first watched it I found that by episode 30 I could barely put the show down, I just kept wanting to see what happened next.

Told you! It really is the best Rider crossover film yet. It has all hte elements that make it enjoyable. It preserves the main plots and characters of the 3 main series that it intersects. It has great anniversary fan service with the Legendary 7 Riders. It's got a plausible reason for the villains to be doing what they're doing. And the action is TOP NOTCH. It's seriously my favorite rider film out there.

Upto episode 29 of W now. Weather Dopant is awesome and all, but Invisible Dopant is best Dopant.

Meanwhile, I have finished episode 22 of Blade. It's really cool to see Mutsuki grow like this.

Due to a wide variety of coincidences over the last few days, I've been inspired to rewatch Decade. I'm already through the full Kuuga arc and, well... it's definitely a different show when you know how it ends. I'm still enjoying it, but knowing how much of the mysteries that are raised early on are never, ever, ever even remotely addressed is kind of a buzzkill on the whole affair. It's still fun seeing Decade and Kuuga team up to fight the Hopper Hell Brothers, though.

First off, we showed some of our friends the Fourze/OOO movie and they really enjoyed it. They were confused at first though because of how it was formatted (OOO portion, then Fourze portion, then combo), but they found it to be really good.

Secondly, we just finished episodes 36 of Fourze and the show is really really great thus far. Still not as awesome as W, but way better than OOO. I like how it has switched from the standard monster of the week to Horoscopes of the week. On the other hand, the Horoscopes, while amazing in design, are still no where near as likable as the Sonozaki Family was in W. None of them have been developed all that well and that is disappointing given how great their concepts are. For example, I cannot wait to see Libra finally get what he deserves, because he has done nothing to make me care about him.

I just watched Fourze 47. I can't wait to see how the finale is. You've got an interesting point of view. OOO is still my favorite. W was pretty sweet. That being said, Fourze did something the other shows did not. The episodes flowed very well. I found myself watching many episodes in one sitting without meaning to. Only a few shows have actually done that for me.

My biggest problem with the Horoscopes is how they've been paced. All the early ones - Scorpio, Libra, Cancer, Virgo - got a lot of good characterization and development. But once we hit the mid-30s, it's like the writers realized that "oh crap, there are how many Zodiac signs?" and have been scrambling to shove them all in. As a result, all of the later ones have just been shortlived Monster of the Fortnights. What sucks about that is that not only does it mean they don't get much development, but it also makes the Horoscopes look weaker as a concept since Gentaro and Ryusei have been defeating them on a regular basis now.
