When Kamen Rider Black fought the Slug Moth kaijin, the kaijin was not in full (moth)form as it did not have wings. It was still a caterpillar. Compare both photos.
https://i.imgur.com/MVtt3pk.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5z6zbiv.jpg So Kamen Rider Black had Rider Kicked a kid. But with justification. That kid was nasty. |
The Saber Insert Album is out so songs are starting to get on the 'tube, and... MAN this show's songs kick ass!!

Rina Chinen should sing us a lullaby to sleep.... |
From the Figure-Oh Magazine.
The setting for Saber before the change by Corona: Touma is a lone wolf who meets hard-headed swordsmen from various organizations in various cities, and through battles they gradually deepen their bond and eventually come together to fight a great evil. In order to save Luna, who has disappeared into another world, Touma has been preparing himself by acquiring knowledge and practicing swordsmanship for many years. Only Touma remembers that Luna disappeared, so he became a novelist with the idea that if he wrote a novel about it and spread the word, he could get a clue. As he searches for Luna's whereabouts, he discovers the existence of a mysterious organization led by swordsmen, and ends up at the Sword of Logos base on his own. In the process, he gained knowledge on how to use the flaming sword Rekka and he knows a lot about swordsmanship, so he is suddenly very strong. He is a man who has prepared everything to save Luna, because he knows everything from books. The three who use the Seiken Swordriver are holy knights and special beings who can use three Wonder Ride Books at the same time. The Seiken used by Buster, Kenzan, and Slash are specialized combat swords derived from the Swordrivers. Calibur was an additional request by Bandai to introduce an evil swordsman. Storious was never planned to be a rider, but was requested from others to be one. Master Logos or Hayato Fukamiya (it says previous swordsman, so I assume it's Hayato) would have been the mastermind. Changes by Corona: Start off with the swordsmen not being at odds with each other. Add Tassel to fill in scenes that cannot be filmed in Wonder World and Corona. Add Touma's bookstore and Northern Base because road movies are impossible. Producer Kazuhiro Takahashi: "Anyway, there were too many characters and items to be released before the end of the year." http://cgi.2chan.net/g/res/2565969.htm This makes his presscon reveal make sense a lot more. He's much more brash, hotheaded, and confident here. https://youtu.be/5-PfbwSkjew |

While I'm not too fond of Northern Base I absolutely love the bookstore setting alongside that gorgeous diorama. I can't imagine Saber without those two. Also Tassel is great, so you know. That being said biggest change that was probably my favorite and the original probably would have made me more meh on Saber originally. Swordsmen being at odds with each other. Them being co-workers and working together and developing small bonds before being split up and Touma having to work to get them back together is probably one of the more unique multi-rider show aspects. I'm just tired of the classic "Oh yeah there's a bunch of Riders and they're just antagonistic towards each other constantly". So stuff like Rintaro being super friendly, etc, was such a change to the norm that the Rider vs Rider stuff in Q2 ended up being more effective. Which is funny cause I don't think people can make up their minds. Saw people being like "Ugh, why aren't they fighting?" then Episode 16 or so rolls up and people are like, "Ugh, Rider vs Rider, this is lame!" |

Yeah, they're working together, but there's just enough space to suggest distance between the riders, which would definitely spark conflict for the second arc. Rintarou's conflicting between Touma and his family, Ren being Ren, the swordsmen retsuden where Kento talks about Touma's lack of swordsmanship but creativity with books allowing it to be explored with Daishinji, I feel Ogami doesn't have much in that regard since his main issue with Touma was already solved in the first arc. One thing I kinda wish they kept was Touma already training before the show began. A Reiwa Tendou of sorts. Definitely would have fixed that slight issue in the main arc about him being skilled with the sword already. |
This is... pretty fascinating stuff! It seems the entire dynamic of Touma with everyone else completely changed; where if I'm reading it right he was one of those Riders like W and Build who was a Rider before the series started. It's interesting seeing just how actively on his quest to save Luna he was originally

Him being a Novelist just, connects so much to me what with me being a writer (Who just writes fanfiction but still!). The little stuff about his writing slumps and ideas at the start were great. And then them coming around full circle at the end with Storious and the final battle, that's definitely what made Saber's ending strong to me. |
Saber never clicked for me, but Touma being a novelist who was suddenly thrown into this wonder world of swordsmen and magic that he's discovering and making friends with one by one... that's all so right, to me. The way they did it didn't work for me but it's impossible to imagine Saber with any other identity than that

Also, I just realized Diago Speedy is a reference to DeAgostini. The book publisher for motorcycle collections. |
The original plan for Buster, Kenzan and Slash's swords being reverse-engineered (so to speak) from the Swordrivers make way too much sense. It would certainly explain their ability to only use one book while the Swordrivers can use three. Kind of wish they kept that aspect.

In any case, happy 5th anniversary to Ex-Aid!! First episode aired 5 years ago today |
I woke up and there is new info again.
-There was an idea where someone else was supposed to pick up Espada and Kento would stay as Calibur. If it were to be kept, it would have been an entirely new character. It was scrapped since they wanted the main three reunited. -There were complaints heard that Sophia did not do much in the show. Chinen-san had musicals conflicting with the show, so they had to accommodate that. She was satisfied with her ending becoming Calibur, and everyone seems to be OK with that. -There was no intention to age up Luna. She's supposed to represent the childish wonder in everyone, but SHS casted an adult version of her, so the change was decided. Luna is still the childish wonder, but now you have to mature still. There was an ending considered for Saber where young Touma and young Luna were going to have a second chance at childhood in Wonder World. -A lot of characters were planned to die in the show, but because of the current state of things, they wanted to keep it light hearted. Everyone lives! The cast knows who of which were to die but surprise they didn't in the end. Maybe one day that change however... |

Aside from that and Luna in general I get and agree with all these changes. I've seen people complaining about the Espada part but that one made a lot of sense to me thematically; Saber done a great job of tying the individual's identity to that of their Rider form and blade so much that when Espada was gone, that's because Kento was gone, so it made sense no-one else was picking up that sword. It's what makes the unity of the three Swordriver Riders once again such a feeling of victory, of everything just being right again after they had split apart and Kento had become the dark swordsman. Y'know, at some point I think Saber is gonna be a Ryuki/Faiz situation for me where despite not enjoying the show I respect and understand what it's going for and all the decisions behind it so much I may one day come around to just flat out liking it a little :lol |
I don't find Ryuki and Faiz to be the same proposition! I just find Ryuki really good whereas Faiz and Blade more just had their moments and I probably remember some of the visuals and stuff more than the actual characters.
|
Cool!
|
Putting this here.

I must be having that "moment" again. That feeling where the transition from a show to another is a bit difficult.
Like, yeah, I'm enjoying Revice, but I also feel like I'm not enjoying it as much as I would want it to or how others do. Yeah, I talk with ppl about it, discuss it, but I also feel like something's off. Maybe it's cuz I went into Saber so hard and enjoyed it so hard. It's that same feeling I had during the change from Drive to Ghost, except this time I didn't drop Ghost and Ex-Aid. :lol Edit: I don't think I'm being burnt out, because I still want to keep watching, just something feels off lol. https://tokusatsunetwork.com/wp-cont...OVEAYl8r3.jpeg |
No it makes sense, it's what Kamen Rider was for an entire year (and for certain other reasons it feels longer than a year), and it's pretty plain to see it had a big impact on you and became a big favourite. Naturally it's gonna be hard going from that to a show that you don't feel as strongly about, even if you're enjoying it!

In any case my view may change as the shows goes on, probably around the time the Q2 riders roll around, but I feel it won't reach my Saber levels of dedication haha! Oh yeah, Ultimate Bahamut! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FA5dTXsV...jpg&name=large |
That image of Saber and Revi and Vice all together... It's like my brain is being pulled in two different direction, it's kinda incredible and has not subsided at all even a month since Revice has started airing. I never even felt this way when Ex-Aid stood next to Ghost or Build.
|
I personally can’t get over how badly the colors in Revice’s suit remind me of 3 day old Chewed Bubble Gum…. It takes me out of the moment whenever I watch the show
|
Still find it funny how Toei is like "He's blue with pink highlights" just say he's Pink with blue accents or that he's pink and blue.
Anyway, he reminds me of Cotton Candy. |

Now that you’ve said it, I agree, and also can’t unsee it… It’s The COTTON CANDY Rider & BUBBLE GUM Sidekick |
|
I think I'm in love.
|
Holy shit, that's incredible. Figures that they'd retool Kamen Rider Lupin for Kamen Rider Tassel, it just fits. A little unfortunate that it isn't the Kurayami, since he was the one that made it. But I fucking love it.
|

In any case, the gaudiness of Tassel, wonderful! A fitting use of Lupin. Although, the skin-tone color is a little weird and I wish it was white instead. |

Edit: You right, he said he created Kurayami. |
I realize a few things.
When Ren lost his elemental power, he mimics Dezast's single-sword fighting style. Remarked by Dezast when he saw he was copying him. When Dezast briefly used Falchion, while a little more subtle, proceeds to dual-wield his swords. Like Kenzan. https://i.imgur.com/LVM4j3s.jpg |
I just remembered the Kamen Rider Wizard x Gaim movie (the one where they fight Bujin Gaim and his tree of doom) and the ending when its revealed that Beast Chimera really loves eating the Helheim Fruits so Nitoh (Kamen Rider Beast) ends up picking a whole bunch of them to keep Chimera fed instead of having to regularly feed him with Phantoms.
I just can't help but think that Nitoh has a Helheim Fruit garden secretly growing somewhere like he's an underground drug dealer or something lol. |
To be honest, with how often Kouta goes to Earth I could just imagine him delivering Helheim Fruits to Nitoh on a regular basis and they're just good friends as a result.
|
You're telling me Nitou could have singlehandedly solved Gaim by just letting Chimera loose in the Helheim Forest? :lol

"Heeeelllloooo Zawame City! We have some unbelieeevaaable footage coming in from around the city that some animal thing is interfering with the Inves Games! Okay, check it!" (livestream switches to footage of onlookers screaming in fear as Chimera swoops in and eats Inves during an Inves Game). |
I think he could beat them. I believe in him!
