Right.. As I don't feel like tackling another rider/Sentai show just yet (I'm waiting in a wizard batch so in and get that finished...) what Anime would you guys recommend?

It's something I've never really payed attention to, beyond stuff that's been dubbed (the usual DBZ,Pokemon,Digimon,Yugioh, bit of full metal alchemist) and I'd hardly say that they count. Oh and tiger and bunny, loved that! But yeah that's as deep as my rabbit hole goes.

So what should I watch? I see Madoka and Clannad popping up a lot around here. Should I go for one of these, and if so which first? Or should I go for something else entirely?

I say start with Madoka then move to Clannad/Clannad Afterstory

I'd say start with Madoka as it's shorter... just have a box of tissues on stand by. I'd also recommend my personal favorite Eureka Seven if you're in the mood for something a little more light hearted.

Madoka is shorter as others said, quite an enjoyable journey from the same writer as Gaim.

It's a good show, but it's also a tragedy with quite a lot of pain and torment for all of the characters at one point or another. So with all the bad things that happen in Madoka, can you really say that you enjoy it? I personally don't think so... except for the small bits of humor that are in the show for a bit.

It was a good show, I guess we simply have different definitions of enjoy, it didn't make me smile if that's what you are saying. :p

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Madoka Magica. Tokyo Majin and Hajime No Ippo are my four favourite shows, I'm pretty sure you'll love at least one of those and you can't really go wrong with the others either.
