I played Project M before. It made me appreciate game designers even more for knowing how to properly make a game.

Though I wish the competitive community would stop thinking it knows better then the Smash dev team about how to make a game. Project M, that one guy asking Sakurai that if he beat him if he could join the dev team, just try to stop recreating Melee guys. |
Most likely. It just made me realize that you can't just make Brawl into Melee. The characters were wildly unbalanced since they upped the speed, the system just felt off because the heavy hitters were moving too fast for their own good and the fast falling characters basically dropped like rocks, etc etc. It just had too many problems for me to want to play it for more than the hour or two I gave it.
You can't just make a game into Melee and expect it to work, which is why I always found Project M tournaments to be laughable. I'm glad to know it worked out the kinks, though. And the guy saying if he could beat Sakurai he could join the dev team is laughable. That's like me saying if I can beat Satoshi Tajiri in a Pokemon battle, I should be allowed to join GameFreak... |

I also have this feeling that the Smash community thinks that Sakurai plays Smash at a very high level himself. Whenever people talk about Ganondorf needed a more accurate moveset, people always cite this one quote from an interview back in Brawl that said Sakurai mained Ganondorf. People treat this realistically slight bias and blow it out of proportion. I wouldn't be surprised if some people think that Sakurai mains ganondorf like Hungrybox mains Jiggypuff, where he stays loyal and knows every version of the character, gameplay wise, on a very deep level. |
So people have been giving me shit on Smashboards for thinking that Melee is boring to watch.
Thanks guys for being part of one of the most supportive Smash communities. *Rolls eyes* |
Melee is shit to watch. Everyone looks like they're having a fucking seizure since players think wave dashing in the same spot is what constitutes "Strategy." Commentators are getting hype over Fox neutral airing an opponent off the stage for the 17 billionth time or Falco f-throw into meteor d-air for the millionth time as if it's something to get hype over, and the pitifully small amount of characters actually chosen for "High stakes" games makes for one of the most dull tournaments to ever witness.

As someone who doesn't see himself as a serious fighter player I can safely say yes; I do get bored seeing Fox dittos and Diddy dittos all the time during tournaments. I can see the people who frequent Smashboards want to see matches that aren't a mess of wavedashing, L Canceling and of course seeing other characters win for once. Because hearing "this game's winner is Fox/Falco/Marth/Peach" tends to get very old even for super fans of Smash. |
I absolutely destroyed somebody at uni today, i barely took damage and he lost in little over a minute. Huh, i think went a little overboard there.
