In Season 2, half the cast received a "Transmetal" upgrade that gave them animal modes with vehicle bits added on. For Rattrap, his beast mode got wheels (While his robot mode kept his legs...Still don't know why he lost them in BM), for Megatron, his T-Rex mode got VTOL engines and skates, and Primal got a surfboard while in ape mode.

Full confession: I despise Beast Machines. To me, it might be the worst Transformers series of all time. Yes that includes the live-action films.

And 80% of the reason why can be found in the episode "The Weak Component." Virtually all remaining beloved character traits from the original series are fed into a shredder.

He lost them because of the virus Megs spread, being Transmetals was the only thing that allowed them to bypass it but at the cost of their upgraded forms.

I hated how overly preachy Optimus Prime had become.

Eh. I like it. I can see why you have issue with it (Rattrap and Primal were extreme exaggerations of their BW characters, Silverbolt and Rhinox were completely butchered, and the new characters weren't exactly the most endearing), but I still enjoy it. I'd probably rank it above G1 for sake of telling a cohesive story.

I'd much rather think of Beast Wars and Animated has G1 canon and ignore Beast Machines ever took place. There's a reason the initials are BM.

One thing you need to remember about being a Vehicon grunt... Megatron don't check to see if you can fly or not.

If you arent good enough for a name then you aren't good enough for the Glory of our Dark Lord Megatron.

And the show made it clear Primal was in the wrong. His fanaticism with quasi-philosophical nonsense in an attempt to find peace was the wrong path to travel down, which is what helped Cheetor evolve into the leader role.

Why do they keep bringing back Hotshot from Armada and then not calling him Hotshot?

Unpopular opinion time: I loved Armada, hated Energon and Cybertron, but I adore Armada. That is hands down my favorite look for Optimus Prime.

I found Armada to be...Inadequate. I didn't find it as horribad as everyone else did, but I didn't enjoy it enough to truly have fun with it. It had it's moments (The oft mentioned Starscream, the climax, hell, the entire second portion of the show), but it was just too error ridden and makes too many mistakes for me to sit down and enjoy it like I can with Beast Wars or Prime.

Energon and Cybertron were their own flavors of bad, but Cybertron did do enough right for me to declare it simply mediocre. Energon was one of two series (The other being Headmasters) that I considered a chore to get through.

Armada is also my favorite of the three, show wise, if we talk about Prime's design I can't choose between Armada and Cybertron, cybertron is more toyetic, but by itself Armada is better.

From a purely design perspective, I think Armada had the better designs, personally. Energon was too bland, looking dull and uninspired, and Cybertron was too boxy and chunky feeling clunky and incredibly off.

Armada is heavily flawed, both in storytelling and production. The dub is atrocious and I really hope one day we can get the Japanese version with full updated subtitles (and finished animation).

But Armada did have a few good ideas. I loved their take on Starscream, and reimagining Wheeljack as a vengeful Decepticon was close to inspired.

How is the truth unpopular? Armada was just better.

I'm quite fond of Armada, in big part because it was the series that introduced me to Unicron.

No. TV_Nihon began some a while back (I think) but its never been finished.

For the record neither have other Japanese spinoff TF shows Beast Wars the Second and Beast Wars Neo, both of which I really want to see.

I was in first grade when it was airing so those were all negligible. I've rewatched it and it's just fun to revisit for me. The dub may suck from a dialogue standpoint but I really liked everyone's voicing. The show had a lot of epic moments, and those really resonate in my head when I remember it.

A few episodes were released, but I don't think anybody completed the series.

Which is quite a shame, because I have too for such a long time.

The entire reason I am a Transformers fan is because of Transformers: Cybertron. Specifically the part where Optimus Prime was a flying firetruck. If you can't like that, then you have no soul.

Apparently TVN fully subbed Galaxy Force? Maybe I should check it out, I feel like I'm the only person on this forum who isn't a Transformers fan.

Maybe you should check one of the american series instead, the Unicron trilogy series aren't the best TF shows around.

Galaxy Force is a fair place to start. Its a decent story with great animation and though its counted as part of the "Unicron Trilogy" the overall plot is pretty much stand-alone so you won't be lost by any references to previous shows.

From reading on the wiki the Japanese version Galaxy Force it is standalone, it was just the American version that tried to make it a sequel.

Plus I'm pretty sure I saw Armada and the sequel when I was a kid, I remember liking them. The one I remember only catching a few times was one where Megatron was like a three headed dragon or something.

It also provides an explanation for every single plot-hole in the omniverse in the form of the Unicron Singularity (although I think it was expanded-universe material that brought up that concept).

I don't seem to remember Galaxy force.

Honestly even the american one is Stand-Alone, Cybertron is simply incompatible with the other 2 shows.
If you are going with Glaxy Force then I hope you enjoy it.

that's pretty much a western only thing, the unciron singualrity was added to the japanese Tf canon after Cybertron aired here, so Galaxy Force is free from the concept.

They go to distant planets to get special keys, so Tf Gokaiger but with way less keys, and more planets.

You just described one form of RID Megatron.

I must be alone in thinking that Galaxy Force isn't a good place to start at all...

I have. I made a quick, paragraph long review of it a couple pages back.

Overall, I hated the character design, I loved the story, and I was surprised by how violent it was overall (Which Potato informed me was mandated by WB).
