1 big reveal down, now we just need to see Overlord. |
Really surprised by how much I want these TLK toys. Voyager Scorn and Leader Megatron (hell, the voyager there too looks great) are both looking incredible. Pretty much definite buys there.
Titans Return is a big mixed bag. Mainline releases have me somewhat interested - Overlord will be mine for sure, Seaspray though I want him I'm worried I'll never find just like Kickback and Gnaw I still haven't..... (:() But the boxsets I'm torn on. Some parts I like, others are just blah, but in all will they be worth it? Definitely want to know their price tags. |

Need a better look at that Magnus Prime to see if I regret my Super Ginrai purchase or not :lol

Primal was always the oddball outta the "Primes" and now he gets his long awaited due with his new Prime rank. Sucks about Star Saber and Deathsaurus losing; guess the Kiss Players scars run deeper than I thought. Figured Magnus would lose since heaven forbid anything messing up the Lost Light status que. Nevertheless I want to see how the POTP toys are going to turn out and what their gimmick will be. Quote:

The boxset with Ginrai at the very least interests me more. Still regret passing on Takara's release, as then I wouldn't have to debate what's sure to be an expensive release from Hasbro. Granted Takara's was pricey too which was why I passed and you get a lot more with the set, but I kinda only like half of them and will still end up wanting a Godbomber. But out of that set, the others are at least interesting. Tidal Wave was the one I wanted to see most and I wish so much he was the Hasbro toy colors but even then, something still feels kinda off for him.
In the other set, Nautica is all I'd really want. And at that, I'm horribly disappointed by her. She's just too much like a purple Blurr. Needed some more remolding there. Quickswitch would be neat and Fastlane is I believe unique so that's a plus for him, but meh on the rest. |
After seeing TFW's pics, I can see me getting that Ginrai boxset even though I'll be selling off the biggest part of it. Tidal Wave is slightly disappointing (my least fave of his decos, but I get the strive for cartoon accuracy I guess) but neat, Metalhawk is a must have for me and Pounce is pretty cool too (always dug him and Wingspan).
Problem is its a BBTS exclusive isn't it? So its not only going to cost a fortune, but also cost a small fortune for me in shipping too. |

I'm glad he won but what are they gonna call him? "Optimus Primal Prime??"
|
Primal Prime is a thing, isn't it? :lol
Anyway, new reveals look neat. I'm amped up for a good chunk of them. Dunno how many I'd actually buy, but I'm still excited nonetheless. |
Going through all the official pictures now...
Wow. I'd been thinking for the last few waves that the RID toys had actually gotten pretty good for what they are. But those combiners are kinda rough. Even if the whole point of them is for the combiner, those modes don't look that great either. Meh, not the target audience so oh well. For the movie line, I guess if you don't have the Dinobot Sentai already, the color schemes for their rereleases for TLK all look pretty good IMO and might be worth the pick up. Slash in particular looks so much better. But it does make voyager Scorn still being red weird. Whatevs, like him in that color. Steelbane leaves a lot to be desired in dragon mode, but dig his robot mode. Might get him too. A Megatron (leaning leader but voyager looks good too and would fit my display better - may wait for reviews to decide which) and Scorn are still must haves though. Guess that's it for now? Would've liked some for the boxsets. Oh well. Oh and it's been revealed Overlord can store Titanmasters in his chest. That's really neat. |

OK, so TFW2005 thinks we're getting box sets for Intel and Firepower. Might as well play the game
Firepower: Leader:Godbomber Voyager:G2 Megatron (either green or purple Deluxe:Misfire Legion:Wingspan Titan Master:Pointblank Intel: Deluxe:Magnifus Leader:Skyquake Voyager :Leo Prime Legion:Cloudraker Titan Master:Mainframe |
Holyahitholyshitholyshit.
Masterpiece Dinobot might have just been teased! :D |

MP Dinobot is the best thing ever. Thanks Takara!
|
MP Dinobot? Seems like Takara wants all the Maximals to be MP and I think a lot of people are going to be very happy about this.
MP BW Grimlock when? |
So apart from all the hate it has accumulated, are there any designs that you guys like from the Michael Bay Transformers movies? I actually do not mind Drift, Hound, and Crosshairs out of all of them because their faces look like they were not mutilated by an insane plastic surgeon.
|
I really like the current designs for Megatron and Prime. Same goes for the new Barricade design.
|
So how 'bout all them new Masterpieces eh?
Finally going to get a Sidewsipe at a decent price thanks to MP-12+. Holy crap MP-39 has such a crazy amount of display options for vehicle mode (although not really clear yet if they moved from yellow to chrome spoilers or vise versa or if he comes with option parts for both) and looks awesome. Then there's Dinobot... Ohhhhh Dinobot how I cannot wait to own you. The Beast Wars MPs are proving to be engineering marvels and he is quite the good example of that. |
So... Last Knight is just abysmal I heard.

However the whole schtick of "Whoever says they are bad is lying" and "Cinematic Masterpieces", that's complete and utter bullshit. All of Bay's Transformers movies are bad, some less than the others but still bad. If you happen to like them, good for you, but playing the rabid fanboy is simply ridiculous. |
Last Knight hit an all time low for the franchise with about 69 million so far (Bay movies get ginormous budgets and that's underwelming for his standards). China's saving it because China ADORES Bayformers but it's a sign people are getting fed up with Bay.
Also, I was never really in to the franchise, but ever since I found out Platinum Games made a game of the robot buggers, I've grown more fond and now I realized I may actually enjoy the franchise. Anything I should watch to see if I like the franchise? |
Beast Wars is good, but the animation quality has not aged well. Animated is also good, but it's animation style is off putting to a lot of people.
TF Prime starts off strong, but dips into mediocrity later on. G1 is passable, but it's nothing special beyond starting the franchise. Beast Machines (Beast Wars' sequel) is also passable, but also a very dividing series. RID (2000) is rather bland, but watchable, while RID (2015), TF Prime's sequel, aims for a younger demographic (Kind of hitting the age range between Rescue Bots and Prime). The Unicron Trilogy is boring, but some people swear by Cybertron's quality, so I dunno... The Japanese exclusive series bore me to death, so much so that I've never finished them, so I can't comment. |

From the standpoint of what is the single best thing ever, it's Beast Wars. It has the best characters and the best stories to tell. But the animation - it's not pretty to look at anymore, there's no way to sugarcoat this. Whereas the old cartoons still retain a certain charm Beast Wars is just butt ugly these days. Not that there isn't a certain style to behold, but it's still very much outdated. Still worth watching though, it's still the best thing Transformers no matter how bad it looks. If you like campy 80's cartoons then the original series might be for you, however, I think that one is too boring to watch in its entirety, the campiness wears off very quickly. If you want to watch G1 I'd say take a look at the Top 10 best episodes someone put together and give those a try. The original movie might be worth watching, it's pretty good. It's very 80's though, cheap one-liners, hair metal in the background and random dancing. Plus, they tried to introduce a lot of new characters in this one, while making sure to get rid of the old ones at the same time. It's a bit jarring in certain scenes, to say the least. If you like old-school anime then you could check out the Japanese exclusive shows which followed up G1, they are called "The Headmasters", "Super God Masterforce" and "Victory". Headmasters and Victory are rather generic, Masterforce breaks away from the formula a bit more. I watch a few episode of these three from time to time but like G1 they wear off rather quickly and then I'm just too bored to continue. I'm not a huge fan of Car Robots / RiD, I just think it's lame. It's your cookie cut out early 2000 anime and nothing else. Same goes for the entire Unicron Trilogy, I never cared for those. Animated might be worth watching if you like newer cartoons, it's got heart, isn't stupid and a lot of fun. I haven't watched all of it but I plan to, the episodes I saw were really good. I have watched the all of Transformers Prime and I thought it was okay. Some things I really like about it, especially how it modernized G1 and tried to make a new continuity around it, but it's not for everyone. I do think it's the best Transformers show we've gotten recently, the new Robots in Disguise is just a plain and mostly boring cartoon for kids. So my advise: Check out a few episodes of each. Beast Wars is the only show I can recommend in its entirety. Season 1 can be a bit of a slog but Seasons 2 and 3 are on fire. Some of those episodes won awards and for good reasons. |
