I showed Gavv to my sister and she absolutely loved the idea of the Zakuzakuchipslasher breaking apart or slicing stuff depending on what angle its oriented in because 'chips sometimes prick your mouh when you chew them a certain way'.

If that really was the intention behind the swords, then I love Gavv even more.

The show really reminds me of Gaim in how well it makes the silly aesthetic work with its in-universe rules.

Honestly, I wouldn’t say that fruits or sweets are much more silly than insects. It’s just that viewers have gotten used to the latter after so many years. But, I’m sure, when Shotaro Ishinomori remade the Skull Man into a cyborg grasshopper, it also seemed a little silly to him.

Turns out Ms. Hino in that scene was played by Michie Tomizawa, who is the voice of Rei Hino/ Sailor Mars in the 90s Sailor Moon anime. :lolol

In Geats, the girl Neon was create to replace was named Akari. Akari's name roughly means "light," and according to the wiki is made of the kanji for sun and moon (sources of natural light) while neon gas is commonly used for artificial lighting.

Neon's name basically means "artificial Akari."

The story of Satoru Tojo (KR Tiger) is based on Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment. Like Raskolnikov, Tojo is captive of his prejudices, considering himself not what he is. He also commits atrocities and experiences a significant belated shock, followed by salvation through tragedy. Of course, Tojo dies in this case, but this is already due to the general rules of the Ryuki world.
Also, Tojo is clearly listed as mentally disabled, so any claims that it shows a condemnation of the craving for heroism are nonsense. Tojo is clearly shown to be incapable of distinguishing between good and evil, but nevertheless drawn to goodness. He is also highly dependent on other people, and therefore his attempt to kill the Impeler is just a desperate step to gain independence. And that is why the understanding of his failure has such a strong impact on his psyche.

Both Akiko and Toshiki Inoue have at least one male yellow ranger who wears glasses and is the muscle of the team in their sentai shows so far.

Just had a realization about how Hanto's mom was killed in Gavv, when she was forced into a vat of liquid that made her body dissolve, as part of becoming a snack for Granutes. A (soon-to-be) snack, getting dissolved in liquid. You know that that means? She got freaking digested.

Was reading the Boukenger OP's lyrics, and I realized somethin. The roll-call descriptors (or forms thereof) of each of the core five appear in the lyrics in the exact roll-call order.

Kamen Rider G4's name come to think of it may have been a subtle indicator of how his fate is doomed from the start because the number 4 in certain Asian countries is an unlucky number due to the pronunciation for it being the same as the word death (死). This probably relates to most Asian countries that include words formed by Chinese characters, but yeah, perhaps its given number was a subtle indicator of Shiro Mizuki's fate.

It has occured to me that all of the Gavv Rider's cold dessert-based forms are just extensions of their base forms, and I love it. Blizzard Sorbet is bubblegum sorbet (Popping Gummy), Frappe Custom is chocolate frappe (Chocodon), and A La Mode Mode is, well, pudding a la Mode (Doppudding). I know it was all spelt out in the show, but I thought that was nice. Like, all their cold desserts could have been something else. Blizzard Sorbet could have easily been vanilla.

And I'm not sure if this is intentional, but all of them are actually French names! Sorbet is a French word derived from the Italian 'sorbetto' which was derived from the Turkish 'şerbet', Frappe means 'chilled' or 'shaken' and is derived from the Old French word 'fraper' (lit. 'to hit/strike'), and a la Mode literally means 'fashionable' (it's not actually a French style of dessert though, with the Americans applying the term to Pie a la Mode, which is just a scoop of ice cream slapped on top of a fruit pie). Kamen Rider Bravo might want to hang out with these guys!

In Wizard, Rinko Daimon's name is a pun. I watched the entire series and I didn't get that. Her name is a pun of "Diamond ring." Wizard uses rings.

Also, may or may not be intentional, but in Ex-Aid, Brave uses gashats that align with fantasy and knights. His primary character concern revolves around his ex-girlfriend, and what is Brave's name? Hiiro. It might not be intentional, but it's quite a coincidence to name your knight in shining armour character something that also sounds like a literary English word: hero.

Thanks! There seems to be a ton of pun names in this franchise. I've heard (but would have to confirm) that Japanese humor really loves making wordplay.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I think Nico Saiba is also a pun too. Nico sounds like neko and saiba = cyber. So, her name translates into: cyber/internet cat. If that's unintentional, I'll stand corrected. Can't remember who she played in the brief Tekken 7 shots in Ex-Aid; if it was Chloe, that tracks considering the cat motif.
