Sure! That's maybe a possible actual read on this show! I mean, people were excited about the constant connection of cellphones, until they realized, wait, constant connection? Cellphones can represent that ways people try to navigate relationships, how we try to determine the appropriate amount of ourselves to make available to others. Faiz as a show is currently about a lot of the same things!

(And, I'm not even a little mad at the star-crossed nature of the star-crossed lovers, since half of the show has been about Team Orphnoch and Team Faiz crossing paths without realizing it. It's the gimmick of the show right now! And I think it's been pretty fun! Even if all it gave us was Yuuji imploring Takumi to be a better man, I'd defend it to my death, and we've gotten so much more out of it.)

No comment on the character, but that suit. THAT SUIT. It makes me feel some kind of way, LOL This series has made a lot of really good design choices overall, and this one is my favorite.

Your (probable) enthusiasm at seeing Houjou in this episode was a thing I have been anticipating since the series started and you did not disappoint :D :D :D I have absolutely nothing constructive to say here, but this 100% made my day today

But he never stops trying to get those things out to his friends. He'll be a little sad if they snap at him, and he knows when they're making fun of him, but he still tries to bridge that gap. He knows how little they care about his alleged girlfriend, and he still goes to them, all excited, when she finally messages him.

And, when Yuka wants to spend the day with him, she asks him to take her to a place that means a lot to him, where he's happy. And he does it! For a first date, he wants to bring her into his world. I think that's pretty sweet and brave of him.

I do totally see what you're saying though. I don't even think this is "agree to disagree" so much as like "yes that's true also"? For me, anyway. Again, I can see this either way! Faiz has a very three-dimensional main cast!

Houjou! He's only gonna ever have the one name! It's like asking me how I'd repaint the Sistine Chapel. The man is a legend, and he validates this entire program by appearing on it. If anyone on this show deserves our respect, it's Houjou.

He's also in season two of Amazons. He played zombie girl's dad.

Aw, dang! I watched Agito way after I watched Amazons, and I don't even remember her dad from Season Two. That's a bummer! I wonder if that'd've affected how I viewed Houjou. I saw OOO just a few months after Amazons Season 2, and when Dr Maki shows up I recognized him as the lunatic executive from Amazons. Made his Dr Maki stuff feel real weird at first.

It's weird how seeing stuff like that out of order can mess with your head. I remember the first place I saw Peter Capaldi was as Sid's dad in Skins, and then as a terrified government official in Torchwood, so when I eventually saw him in In The Loop and he's this vulgar force-of-nature, I was like Wait THAT Guy?! I didn't realize how the stuff I'd seen of his was the out-of-character stuff, not the swearing bonanza of his Malcolm Tucker work.

Speaking of Dr. Maki, Yu Kamio who played him is a polar opposite in Ultraman X where he is the noble commander and that was fun to see. Oh and Ukyo Matsumoto who was Taiga/Kamen Rider Snipe is in it as well playing a character nothing like Taiga.
