Even RPM, with all its drama, knew how to balance that with the fun and cheesiness that comes with Power Rangers. It fully embraced being Power Rangers. |

I know you want a more dramatic, plot-driven show, 7L, but PR is not going to have that. That is not what the show is for, honestly. |

Because how do you explain that one of your MOTW's is a spray bottle and the military team of soldiers against an army of deathbots is wearing neon bodysuits and wielding big goofy weapons while driving huge cars with cutesy animal faces? :lolol |

Why is that so much better than "3 students at a martial arts dojo are tasked with guarding a magic box containing an ancient evil and one jealous student fucks everything up by releasing the evil and killing the sensei who instructs them to go find this new teacher who teaches them how to fight off the evil by giving them devices that channel their ki into into magic spandex and weapons so that they can fight the hordes of demon soldiers that the ancient evil will unleash upon the world while possessing the mind of the jealous student and sending him further down the road of angst and hatred?" |

Those two series are loved because they told a consistent and interesting story. The fun and silly moments of Power Rangers are still entirely intact. |

And in RPM, a romantic moment between Summer and Dillon is interrupted by them both getting soaked by the Whale Zord's blowhole spout. And that was funny. Dramatic, but funny. |
Yes, sometimes in overemphasising how edgy RPM is, people forget that it is a very funny show with a lot of campy moments. It's definitely still Power Rangers, no doubt about that.
|
I don't like extremely funny moments.
|
Well extremely funny moments are gonna stay. Its Power Rangers, its always been goofy, campy, and sometimes has serious moments. You want melodramatic 'like Smallville' no silly moment Power Rangers? Track down that Power/Rangers short fanfilm. Should be perfect for you Seven.

So you really want this? |
I wasn't talk about a dark season but,a season with a serious tone a little bit.

I just thought of a question during this. There was a fake Ranger, and then a monster, in the Cave... where the hell was Keeper?! |
Perhaps in future we can have surprises.

This is just like how someone wants PR to be based in the UK to switch it up. When I explained how PR is aimed at American kids and the rest of the world second, they got mad at me for not wanting the franchise to improve. The franchise can improve, but there are some set parameters that the show will adhere to. |
There's a possiblity to have a another season like RPM ?
|
Both Power Rangers and Super Sentai always have been market to kids. People refuse to admit that they are too old for the franchise now and they don't need to make things dark for older fans to be enjoyed.
|
^This. Enjoy what we get while we get it, I say. No reason to expect the shows to change to better cater to what you want even though you are the target audience
|
It seems like most fandoms of their own favorite childhood franchise wants things to be dark and gritter. I see Dragon Ball fans who wants Super to be dark and gritty with blood, guts and sex at the max. I also see Pokemon fans who want the series to become more darker and serious.

Why can't anyone ever just have fun anymore? It's all about "dark gritty adult subversions." |

Sex would be pushing it, as they never showed that before, beyond quick flashes of nudity in the Dragon ball manga. |
The violence in the DB series was never that extreme (It's rated TV-PG for uncut, not TVMA). I see fans on Kanzenshuu that want to really push the violence to the next level just to be cool and edgy. Also I see some Digimon fans that want the series to be dark and gritty too.

The issue is that people think violence, language, and sex equate to a "mature" product. While these are mature and serious topics, just having them or amping them up doesn't mean the show or film will be mature. Too much violence and it becomes comical. Too much sex and its simply another part of the show that has no meaning because it is commonplace. Same with language. Use it too much and it loses the shock and power of it compared to using it every so often so that when somebody says something really coarse it has a meaning to it.
Simply put, people may think making everything uber dark, violent, edgy, and sexy will get them a better and more serious product. But it won't. If you want proof of that just look at Shin or how many other shows or films that try to do it but end up looking like try-hards. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JidA5vsBvxg or this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE4armHcAm8 I'm going to argue that their not in the wrong for thinking Super is being too soft. Depending on how far some fans are willing to go for "cool and edgy" is where I'll disagree, but Dragon Ball has a history of being more violent than what some people expect from a show. |

Honestly, I think the drive for "more mature" content comes from their regular censoring of things like One Piece and Yu-Gi-Oh (though to be fair, it's a show about children's card games that sometimes takes itself a bit to seriously). The more you comically dial back some more serious topics, the more a certain crowd will demand them, even if their own ideas for what exactly is "mature" may be utter nonsense or excessive in amount. |

DBZ had blood moments, but still very tame compare to other anime/manga like Ninja Scroll and Hellsing. The DB series always have been market to kids in Japan since the 80's. My point is that they don't need to make things violent just to make sake of being violent. This goes for any franchise. I didn't like the loads of blood and gore in the PR fan film because Power Rangers does not need it. Even Super Sentai never got that violent.
