I've always thought Seihou Kabuto's arms were a little on the short side (especially compared to the Figure-Rise standard kit), but now that I have Gatack, Gatack's arms look much more normal.

In edition, the silver paint on Gatack is much brighter compared to Kabuto. Have I had a knock-off figure this whole time? Or did Gatack come with general improvements over the Kabuto mold?

Definitely got improvements, plus Kabuto does not have any reported knockoffs. Known rider figuarts knockoffs have been:

Faiz, Kuuga (mighty, amazing mighty and ultimate Seihous), Cross-Z magma

Gatack did infact do minor changes to the base mold, yes. That said, both arm lengths are pretty "normal" really.
