Lol Mari is meant to be sixteen? She looks about forty. It's even funnier since every man in this show wants her v. Holy c-c-c-crap is that Zero?! Man he may very well be even more epic in this.

She is also the girl from the second half of Kiva. Yeah that's him, I can't wait to see him in GARO, he was one of my favorite villains in Faiz.

I've been listening to a lot of OOO music lately, and the person I goto on Youtube for it uses the Medals on the chest for what song's playing. And as I'm looking at it, and listening to Gotta Keep it Real, Ride on Right Time, and Time Judged All, I keep staring at the gold ring around the edge of some combos. And then realized those are his most powerful combos.

Yup. The gold ring represents OOO as he's "supposed" to be. Every other combo breaks the ring, showing that they're not a "true" form, just an extra ability.

I feel as though this is one of those things I should've realized long before now.

Well in between my Faiz and Black watching, I downloaded off of Youtube ZO and J. Plan on watching them soon.

With the Olympics over I'm getting back into watching more tokusatsu, and that means I'm getting back into the new Black RX subs. I'm up to episode 8 now, which is putting me into territory that I haven't seen before. So far, I'm pleasantly surprised.

Black RX is a show that's always gotten a bad rap, one I've personally always bought into from my limited exposure to it. Watching it, though, it's actually pretty fun. The trick is to just not think of it as a direct sequel to Black. Without holding that over it, the series is really fun and enjoyable.

Replace "Black RX" with "Power Rangers Turbo" and you'll have my feelings on that series :lol

I need to check out Black and RX, still, though...I should check it out after Megaranger.

Faiz 29.

Is this show running out of money? After all the hype the introduction of Delta was so lame, especially considering baby Zero was piloting it! To be fair Lucky Clover are pretty lame in general.

Gotta say though, seeing Yuuji, Osada and Juuzo transforming all together was really cool. They are a better idea, than necessarily the execution of that idea, but it was still a really cool moment.

It's not a budget thing - you're in store for some big CGI moments soon. It's mostly just that Delta is really, really underwhelming. Honestly, I think Delta is probably the least memorable Rider ever.

Everything about it sucks, the really boring design, the lack of identifiable uniqueness to the way it operates, the all CGI bike thing. It's worse still, because it was hyped so incredibly that it makes it all the more noticeable how lame it all is.

The most impressive Rider in this show is Faiz, just because of AutoVajin and Axel but he barely ever uses either. Kaixa was interesting during his introduction but I can't look past the fact that Masato is awful human being.

Kusaka really does drag Kaixa down, which is a pity because it's a gorgeous suit.

Honestly I don't really like any characters in this show, lol.

Mari is like if Bella Swan was supposed to be a bad thing (which it is) but whereas Bella was an empty shell for the writers dreams, Mari is an empty shell for the writers nightmares. She is in what, a love hexadecagon by this point?

I get what they are trying to do with Takkun but it's too heavy handed and makes him come across as pretty much plain asshole.

I like the dynamic between Juuzo, Yuuji and Osada but I don't like how disconnected from their Orphenoch forms they feel, even if that IS the point.

Ironically over the course of the series the character I have grown to love the most is Laundry, he may be naive but at least he's actually a nice person - and not a nice person after getting brutal murder under your belt first.

Combine a really busy work schedule (only having one day off this week), plus having crap to do in my free time, what little time I do get to do whatever I end up getting a bit of Battride War in. I need to get back into my toku schedule.

I'm glad to have free time, but I wish that wasn't at the expense of being unemployed. You should count yourself lucky to be getting hours at work. I can't wait until I'm moaning about having no free time, again, because it'll mean I have an actual income again.

Seeing Kiba fight side by side with Takkun was sweet. I really like the concept of Kiba, introducing a villain who ends up turning good. I know it's nothing original, but generally there aren't heel turns in toku it's always they were always a hero but possessed or something like that. He gave into his power, killed some people, hated himself for it and vowed to protect humanity. No 'he was good all along but possessed by evil' shit. I don't think he should get away with what he did, but for now I'm loving his characterisation.

I also really hope Masato gets killed off soon, his general shittiness defies all logic. He's just a pathetic, jealous worm with zero motivations for being a bastard, which he is just a shit person in general and I fucking hate that, he's the closest thing we have to a main villain, why'd they have to pick someone who actively gets in the way of the shows progression?

Then again it can't be any worse than those Jet Slager things or whatever the fuck they are called. The show tries so hard to be epic, with such primitive CGI, it's just terrible.

Just watched the first 4 episodes of Kuuga from MCS. It's getting interesting, and nice to see the police actually do something, even if it's mostly just dying in droves.

The Grongi designs though, man they look so weird compared to the stuff I've been used to from modern KR shows. When I saw the first Grongi, the spider one, I laughed. It just looked so cheaply made to me.

Still I'm liking it. The first four episodes left a better impression than Wizard did. I've only fully watched OOO, Fourze, Wizard, and Kabuto. So I'm looking forwards to the rest of Kuuga.

Also, digging the opening. "No Fear! No Pain! There is nothing that needs to be feared! Even if I stand alone, I will surpass them! Chou Henshin! Kamen Rider Kuuga!"

Kuuga's one of my favorite series I've seen. Also the TV-Nihon versions translate the Grongi's language. It sucks they haven't finished though.

They shouldn't translate the Grongi by default. You're not supposed to know what they're saying the first time you watch the show.

I hated watching it without the translated Grongi, but I know I'm in the minority here with Kuuga in general. I think the only other person who dislikes Kuuga on this forum is Den O.

It was so lonely in the tree house, good to find new friends.

I still need to watch Kuuga, but the intro is widely regarded as good when listening to it makes me want to fellate a power drill, so I'm unsure how I'll feel about the series proper :lol

Everything about Kuuga is awful, the only redeemable part is Ichijou but he is ultimately wasted.

Everything I've seen of Kuuga makes me dislike it. The general tone, the single rider, the maddening amount of useless forms, the "lol so grimdark epic serious lookit kids die" attempts at drama. It almost reminds me of a bad fanfiction.

It IS a bad fanfiction. There is no plot, no characterization, no growth or trajectory.

Split Lip's reason for disliking it is the primary reason for why I haven't watched it yet.
What everyone sees as "Mature and dark" screams "Mean spirited and violent," and considering Kuuga's tone seems to be it's selling point, I've been hesitant to watch it.

It isn't just mean spirited and dark, it's gratuitous. It rubs your face in the body count, the suicides and the dead children.

All Godai can do is cook curry and do a goofy thumbs up while every single person in the show swoons over him. Even though he's such an ineffectual hero thousands of people die under his watch over the course of the series, even in a show with high police presence and a rider kick that can destroy the world.

Yeah, I made it through the whole series but it was a slog. There was nothing I found redeeming about the show. Agito handled an almost cookie cutter story (in the general plot details at least) and did it so much better.

Honestly, I feel like the reason Kuuga is so praised as a "masterpiece" is because it was the first rider series in a long time, and was a different approach. People mistook the flashiness and gratuitous and laughable body count for quality, and with nothing recent to compare it to, it got a free pass. Likewise Agito was technically better than Kuuga, and similar in style and approach, so it was also held in high regard.

I guess we just wait for the revisionists.

Oh God this was like the embodiment of everything I hate about this show. Poor continuity, ridiculous geographical jumps, firm disconnect between Rider and character, monsters appearing from nowhere and then dying within thirty seconds of screen time, unclear characterization and personal motivations, no plot.

Is this show gonna start any point soon? Considering I still have another eight or so hours of Faiz left, I'd rather just cut my losses now, than waste any more time on this show.

Honestly? It gets worse in the last ten episodes. Hibiki has a less frustrating finale and that show had to deal with the writers and producer being fired and the script for the finale being written and rewritten while it was filming.

Looking back at what we just discussed about the Grongi, I'm not convinced that Faiz isn't also a show that would benefit from not having subs. At least then you could just focus on the cool fights. :p
