Zeo's acting is marginally improving.
The story is not, though. Linkara must've been off his rocker calling this series good, because I can't see any redeemable traits or characters. No good arcs, no good stories, no good scenes. It's been crap after crap after crap... Jesus, it's like this show aims to take every wrong step. I miss Turbo... And for fucks sake, somebody get Billy an acting coach. His line delivery is so terrible it's like what you do when you intentionally try to act poorly. |
Going through Syber-Squad to kill time. Mrs. Starkey is awesome, may she rest in peace.

OO 19. God almighty the voice acting in this show is even worse than I remember it being, what should be epic confrontations between villains is just painful thanks to awful dialogue by even worse voice actors. Between that and Will going on his period or whatever they have to explain why he was so out of character in this episode, it really was quite a bad episode.
Still, as ever, the show satisfies on a basic entertainment level due to some fantastic action scenes. Just when I thought the show had forgotten about the Defender Vest, Will summons it out of nowhere and makes it look so utterly badass. It's a shame I always have the lingering bitterness of who is actor is in real life, floating around him, because Will is a pretty great Ranger otherwise. I even enjoy most of the mech battles in this show, something that in most other Ranger series is something I dread and quickly skip over. |
Honestly, the only reason why I can get through Zeo faster than Wild Force is because Zeo aired during that time in PR where only 10 episodes actually mattered to the plot, the rest was just action/violence/toy shilling/filler...
|
So, I've just hit 20 episodes of Zeo.
I'd be lying if I said that it hasn't been improving. The acting and story arcs are much better. However, Billy needs to get the hell up out of here. He's so blatantly terrible I think he's doing it on purpose... The rest is currently ranging from terrible to adequate. Please, Celestia, when does the Gold Ranger show up? :S |
There you are, Gold Ranger! Where the hell have you been!? God. 'Bout time you show up...
His introduction episode was rather nice, but I had forgotten that they have to build up the "Who is the Gold Ranger!?" mystery, so he won't be appearing out of suit for the next couple episodes. Oh well. The episodes have been on a steady increase in quality TWENTY-FIVE EPISODES IN. It's actually watchable now, but geez, the Machine Empire is such a lame group of villains. People complained about Divatox when these jokes were the villains for a full 50 episodes? They're so dull and generic it hurts to watch them...Sometimes I completely zone out and forget I'm even watching them. |
at least the machine empire looks cool. divatoxs band of goofs look like a band of goofs
|
Divatox's band of pirates looked like a band of misfits, which is fitting for her pirate theme.
The Machine Empire just looks...Boring. |
Holiday episode of Zeo.
These people can't pull off a convincing "Angry" emotion to save their lives. Oh, and it began with a flash forward with Tommy's grandson. This kid's acting is offensively bad... Correction: EVERY kid's acting is horrifically bad. Especially when one of them has to sing. My god, that was painful. |
At the very least, Zeo has an awesome theme. But the big question is this: what does "Zeo" even mean?
|
It has an awesome theme, but thanks to how Netflix works when watching a series, if the episode begins with a theme song (Which Zeo does), it'll actually skip the theme, so Zeo's only plus is countered when watching on Netflix.
As for what it means, beats me... |
when did netflix take out the opening themes?

Oh, and Jason just got the Gold Ranger powers, Rocky was being a little bitch, and it's funny to see Tommy and Jason act all buddy buddy when the actors hardly get along at all :p As for the series itself, the most recent events have been fairly fun to watch. |
I love that feature, I got to rewatch RPM without havin to hear that awful theme. I really wodh they had used that western style theme. That would have made it my favorite series completely.
|
I don't hate it. It's especially helpful because it also skips "Previously on" segments, too. So I can watch a 2 parter of any given show and not spend the first minute watching clips from the episode I just finished not even 30 seconds ago.
Oh, and "The Warrior Wheel perfectly compliments the Gold Ranger powers and is a mighty zord to use in place of Pyramidas"? Fucking...Objection. |

I cannot believe Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad got away with a reference to "I Spit On Your Grave." Wouldn't see that happen today.
|
It's still stupid, and I don't believe them, not matter how much they try to sell the Warrior Wheel as a "Mighty Zord."
Geez, Zeo is taking ups and downs as I continue. |

Oh sweet Gosei... |
You see, I never saw Syber Squad as a kid, and hearing about how it was apparently this slapped together, Power Rangers cash-in, I went to YouTube to check out some clips and I think the series actually looks pretty fun. I know it isn't fair to decide that on a few clips, but as there are torrents out there that'll let me watch it for free...
|
To be entirely fair, Power Rangers is far from the best. It was just lucky to be the first successful one.
|
10 more episodes of Zeo.
And, despite this, it's a rather difficult stretch to get through... |

No, that'd be wrong...It's trying to tell a story, at the very least... |
It's over!
It's finally over! *Falls to knees* Thank you, Celestia! It's finally over! *Hugs Celestia* I've finished Power Rangers Zeo. Zeo makes Turbo look like Gekiranger. Oh my god. Alright, it's not that bad, but it's seriously not very good. You all are free to love PR Zeo, but I will never force myself to sit through that again. Let's talk about the good. The Gold Ranger was pretty cool. Trey was woefully underutilized, but Jason coming back was nice. The Zeo zords looked neat, despite not making much sense...And half way through, the acting did improve to tolerable levels. ... Yep. Everything else about this show was painful. During the first half, these people desperately needed acting lessons, Billy particularly pissed me off because he had, like, 100 episodes before hand and he was the worst of the bunch. I just can't back this series when Turbo is probably leagues better than it, in terms of writing, character, story, and action. |
Okay. Decided to start Dino Thunder this morning.
...Good god, the acting is a step up from Zeo, but these guys need to put a little more effort into their performances. Kira sounds like she's from the 90's, Ethan sounds like a generic nerd, and Connor makes me think of Fred from Scooby Doo... Also, JDF's acting has improved, I'll admit. Watching him in Dino Thunder is much more tolerable than watching him in Zeo and Turbo. |

Dino Thunder's first half is utterly fantastic, the second half is pure garbage.

Yeah it all goes downhill around the middle. Interesting character dynamics are either forgotten or dropped, the boss villains become a joke as they end every episode with their tails between their legs running away, the Power Ranger stuff takes a backseat to Devon and Cassidy's filler story of the week. Its terrible.
|
Well, that instills me with such confidence...
Oh well. At least the beginning isn't insultingly bad, so I can actually make it to the half way point at all... |
While it's cliche, the line where Ethan says "She's not gonna fall out of the sky" when they were looking for Kira got a chuckle out of me.
Anyway, Zeltrax's voice is terrible. It's generic evil henchman voice. Anyway, Ethan can sell an unmorphed action scene, but Connor and Kira need work. |
The White Ranger just showed up. While I'm only halfway through his two parter, I must say, it's being handled relatively well. All the characters are acting wonderfully, and setting up Trent and Anton's history well before the introduction of the White powers is great.
|
I thought the White Ranger was quite possibly the worst part of Dino Thunder. Everything they set up, is completely dropped, and not only do they force him into the story WAY earlier than they do with the sentai, they do fuck all with him. Not only is he barely in the fight scenes for obvious reasons, Trent himself is barely in the show either.
So much for making up what he did, then again Connor just seems to forget anyway despite his perfectly justified distaste for the guy. And Trent's romance with Kira? Forget about that, the show does. It's almost laughable how from literally one episode to the other, Trent goes from this mournful lost soul, hating himself for almost killing his friends, friends who are willing to accept him, minus for obvious reasons, Connor to just vanishing from the show almost all together, never bringing up his grief or regret ever again. |
Is Trent really going to be handled that badly? That sounds terrible. And here I was getting excited :lol
As a character right now, I actually really like Trent. His rocky relationship with his adoptive father, him just wanting to live like a normal teen, and how everything is seemingly thrust upon him. It sets him up for a great character. It's really disheartening to learn that it's all gonna be dropped or forgotten... |
Trent started out awesome and promising, things sort of go downhill from there...
Sorry pal, but your happiness probably won't last. :lol |
