I don't understand. Why does that look so much better than the on-screen version?

Wow Kun2522, you do some amazing work. That Ha-Oh looks awesome!
It's been a while since I build some minipla but I finally got some time to start some that I got a while back. The first one is Tank Ressha! http://i.imgur.com/YxY5MYj.jpg |

I like that it has clear plastic parts. However Ninninger has really put me off collecting this things right now so I probably won't be picking it up unless I see it cheap on Mandarake one day.
Hopefully next year's Sentai will draw me back in, because I've been collecting these since Gokaiger and it feels strange to have suddenly stopped. |

But, another day another ressha is complete! http://i.imgur.com/A59DgVN.jpg |
Double post but Diesel-Oh is 85% complete! I ran out of black paint so the front half of diesel ressha will have to wait till I get more.

Those look great!

This thread is making me start to consider picking up future Sentai mecha as minipla rather than DX. I'm just not sure I trust myself to do the work of painting the things. They just look way, way more dynamic in these forms. If I can't have Super Robot Chogokin Sentai mecha, these seem like the next best thing. I'm amazed elbows mean so much to me.
|
I go back and forth depending on the series. Sometimes I like the heft and clicky-ness of DX toys, and sometimes I prefer the MiniPla. ToQger had a great MiniPla line (minus TeiOh), with added poseability all over the place. Gekiranger also benefited greatly from the added joints. Samurai Ha-Oh from Shinkenger also looks more like a giant robot with a big backpack than a mech being hugged from behind and riding on its feet.
Also painting these guys makes them look beautiful. I'm lazy and have only painted certain series. |
It's been a while but I completed another set! This time its Gokai-Oh and took about a week to finish.

http://blog-imgs-89.fc2.com/f/i/g/fi...0217025221.png Looks pretty swell even before paint/stickers! |
Damn that looks fantastic! Do you know if thats an official Bandai pic or has it been released? Not had a payment request.
Really eager to get my hands on this. After dropping Ninninger after Bison King last year I've really missed having these things in my life. |
Yep, need this.
Also why can't BoA upscale this and add more robust joints and locking screws and stuff so we can get something that isn't so... 3 stacked Cubes-y when this becomes a PR series? Quote:

Also, the 'bum-flap' can also be used as a shield, it seems. http://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/images...0217035715.png |
We've gotten to the point where we can have colours seperation on on Minipla, that's great.
Seems like all of the detail's sculpted in too, plus all of the blocky raised surfaces should make this easier to paint compared to past minipla.I wonder how soon till Bandai just releases Gundam kit quality sentai mech kits? |
Looks rather nice. Leagues ahead of the DX. I might try to grab one eventually~
|
That just looks fantastic, and overthrows everything I don't like about the DX toy. I've gone from actively disliking this mecha to having a distinct fondness for it.
I'm apprehensive about painting, since I have no tools or experience. We'll see how I feel about it once I have the toy in-hand. |
This looks like it will be an easier paint job that usual thanks to the design. It looks like a simpler color scheme and there are plenty of well-defined lines to use. Just use the decals for trickier things like the Giraffe print and numbers.
The fact that a lot of cube stuff is molded in also screams for panel lining or wash. I'll probably be picking up the miniPla line for JyuuOhger, especially if later combinations get more interesting. Though I'll hold out for a clear edition, hopefully. |

Yeah I got mine earlier today too. Can't wait to have them in hand! :D
|
The minipla looks a lot better than I expected. If you guys have any extra sets you plan to sell, I'd be interested in a a complete set. Otherwise, I'll keep an eye on Mandarake for them.

I'm still not clear on what actually comes in a set. For instance, AmiAmi has been selling a 12-pack, and I haven't been able to find a clear breakdown of what's in each box. I suspect that one preorder includes either two or three complete versions of Zyuoh King. I didn't find any place that was offering to let people buy just one set of Zyuoh King. (It's also possible that I'm wrong, and that Zyuoh King is spread out over 12 boxes, but I find it more likely that it's spread out over 6 or maybe 4 boxes.) My point is that people mind end up with duplicates.
|
Lots of minipla sets include duplicates, hence my asking to buy any extra sets someone may have.
Since it's a pack of 12, then it's natural to assume you'll end up with 4 ZyuOhKings in your hands, unless Tiger and Elephant are included. |
Elephant and Tiger aren't, but Kirin/Giraffe is. That takes up a fourth spot, so it'd be 3 sets. Probably.
|
It's actually 2 full sets and some leftovers per case. The Eagle is spread across 2 boxes so it's 5 to a set.
|
Ah, I see.
Well, still, it's enough for a minimum of 2, which is good enough for me~ |
If anyone wants more info on the new minipla builds here are the blog entries those photos came from. First look at tiger and elephant are shown as well.

I am not going to order the second set until I have the first set in-hand to give me a point of reference.
(Trying to convince myself.) Thanks for posting those links! |
First review of minipla ZyuouKing. Looks like they took some liberties with the transformations. More than I expected actually.

Anyone think BoA could try upscale that Minipla to add function to the PR version that works with Zord Builder and isn't a literal stack of bricks for 2019?
|
I don't get why they have metallic stickers. It makes Lion and Kirin look kind of weird. Especially in cube mode, especially for Lion.
As a whole it looks ridiculously better than the DX though. Pretty nice looking. |
My only qualm with the miniplas, it's looking, is that the numbers are stickers, and not part of the model.
I know that would basically require another parts tree in and of itself for all 3, which would probably be more expensive than Bandai likes for minipla, but still, it's a problem for me (I can't paint, and while I do love minipla, the stickers' ability to, well, stick has been hit or miss with me...) I'm glad it took liberties with the combination. I'm not in love with the parts forming, but it means that the ankles are ball jointed and the crotch shark-face doesn't inhibit the waist too much (And it's also, well...Part of the shark), so I'll let it slide. I'm also glad they didn't keep the huge stylus-skewer thing. While it is most likely that the ultra combination will use it as a sword, I'm just happy that the base mecha isn't restricted by having it. (It does make me curious over which mecha will include it, now, though...) Quote:
However, considering the skewer gimmick would be missing, I doubt it. |
From Sentaicnp on Facebook:
http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/...s/image_40.jpg The real thing will look pretty darn good if this pic is any indication. |
