Because realistically an evil Batman would be laughably easy to deal with in a world of superheroes compared to an evil Supes.

I just find them boring. I know they are new, but Rebirth has done nothing to make me go, "Wow, I am so glad I am not reading about Hal or Kyle!"

Kyle is my favorite, but Geoff Johns proved why Hal is THE Green Lantern.

If you see new characters as this, then quite frankly, you're looking at it wrong. Hal and Kyle are the most popular Lanterns, correct? Showing us new characters could give them unique developments and personalities than would otherwise be out of character. If you tried making a Batman story in which he kills people with guns and acts more comical, you'd be better off making a different character. Fanbases ARE entitled little brats at times.

Considering the amount of times they've given him bullshit "I can beat everyone" plans, technically an evil Batman is worst than Supes, since Supes won't make it personal the way he takes you out, but Bats has your weaknesses cataloged with notes on how to make it hurt more.

I agree, but it would help if Simon and Jessica weren't squabbling like little kids for the first few issues. Not a good first impression if you haven't read them elsewhere.

I'm not too much of a comic gal, but I was solely talking about Kain's "I'm so happy I'm not seeing a different story" perspective. If the first impressions are bad, that's either your taste or bad writing. Judging by this site, I'd like to compare DC to KR. Drive wasn't well-received here until it turned out to be a much more mature show than the early half would make you think. Drive left bad first impressions but improved. When a new main character is introduced, I say judge them by multiple issues/episodes, then look at their developments

And, honestly, it would be a much more interesting Batman vs. Superman story.

Usually, those stories are about Batman needing to overcome a physically superior foe (Superman), and the only reason he's able to win is because something is always causing Superman to hold back (typically his humanity and/or his friendship with Batman, if it exists in that timeline). We're supposed to side with Batman because he's on the right side.

We never see it from Superman's perspective where he's the guy in the right. If something were to cause Batman to turn evil, and Superman was the guy who needed to stop him, Clark would be fighting his best friend and trying desperately to get him to see the light again. Batman, meanwhile, would be utterly convinced that he's in the right and would go to any means necessary to stop Superman. That's one of the differences between them--in battle, Superman has to hold back, but Batman has to overcome.

I just think it's nice to have a Muslim superhero (even if I have some problems with the way Simon's been characterized in the past). If that isn't enough for you, that's fine--it's your prerogative. But comics rarely cater themselves towards me, so I take what scraps I can get.

I've only read the New 52 stuff, Blackest Night/Brightest Day, and the original Green Lantern: Rebirth, but Johns writing of Hal seems more concerned with making Hal look awesome rather than having Hal actually be awesome.

That's why I said "realistically" as in not drinking the Bat-God kool-aid.

Seriously Superman,Wonder Woman,Flash and Shazam alone could take him out just by being able to move faster than he can blink and Clark,Barry and Diana know his secret identity and even if he goes into hiding with the entire Justice League after him he wouldn't last long.

I just can't see an evil Batman on his own as a credible threat to guys that can move faster than light speed and destroy planets just by sneezing.

I don't care what someoen's race or religion is when it comes to the writing of the characters/comics, I care about the stories they are involved in. I just don't find the writing of Simon (or Jessica) to be all that great.


I disagree as Johns has given us the best Green Lantern material since the 70s, if not ever. He gave Hal a personality and made him to be the lantern my dad and people his age made him out to be when Kyle took over (who was my first GL).

Like I just said, I just don't find them well written enough to really care about them. Take in Justicle League right now. Their first mission and their rings fail on them.

Well, he does have a habit of having a bigger army of orphan sidekicks at his disposal. An evil Batman could just a youth corrupting, child soldier using jackass who hides behind his multiple brightly colored distractions while going about whatever evil plan he has cooked up.

Think of the Robins acting like Varys' little birds from Game of Thrones, but with a Court of Owls assassination flavor added in.
