Took almost 30 years for Howard the Duck to be no longer the lowest rated Marvel film on Rotten Tomatoes.

I wonder if Fox is wishing they had sold the rights back to Marvel right now?:lol

It's hard to say. Fox might not be hit too badly by this. It just depends on what its box office will be, especially after all the international receipts have been rounded up. If Fox sees the Fantastic Four as no longer commercially viable, then maybe.
But if it still makes a decent amount of cash, they may be less inclined to change the status quo. |
Even if the movie does decent enough at the box office, I don't think a sequel will happen. The movie is getting pretty dislike by fans, critics and general movie goers. If people don't like the first movie then I doubt time and effort would be put into a sequel. There are movies in the past that did well at the box office, but never got a sequel due to the bad word of mouth that they got.

To me, it seems pretty unlikely for a sequel to happen too.
This whole thing just makes me very sad. I was just so hoping for it to be good, or at least competent. If they want to change the source material, fine, as long as they make an interesting movie out of it. The worst part of this whole debacle is how difficult it would be to greenlight any Fantastic Four movies in the future. Wasted potential. |

That's interesting. Do you have a link to their statement blaming Trank? I'd like to read it.
