I'm excited to see some of these more dramatic 80s Sentai, Denziman and Sun Vulcan were both really light on the plot and characterization to say the least. I've been REALLY interested in Liveman for some time, but thought I would save that one for after I had tried a few of the earlier shows the decade had to offer first. I'll probably tackle it as my next 80s Sentai after Bioman. |

While I generally enjoyed Denjiman more for the main heroes, Sun Vulcan had some memorable confrontations with the villains and I liked Hiba when he was introduced after the climactic moment with Zero One. Quote:

Bioman was certainly a forerunner for the modern feeling of Sentai going forward. I hope you enjoy it! |

Maskman was probably the one I had heard about the romantic shenanigans in, though I find it a bit of a relief that it will be a different flavor from Jetman, which wasn't enjoyable for me. A Shakespearean play or a classic fantasy epic, both sound cool, plus I know Maskman also has some martial arts stuff going on! So much interesting stuff to check out in from the 80s...

AND he was in an episode of JAKQ?! Apparently, these were all during his days under Japan Action Club. |
Alright! Finally made it to the Shinken Gold debut.
Have to say, I am incredibly impressed by the fighting style they chose for him. It's marvelous (pun intended). Putting aside that, I really do like how the series focuses on every aspect of the characters and how they're growing. The Kuroku episode was certainly one of my favourite, because I'm a fan of when superhero shows go out of the way to explain the little things. Where do the civilians go? How do they get their costumes on in such short time? A lot of these little details really make their world feel alive even though compared to say a Kamen Rider series we spend far less time in that world with the MOTW episodes. There is heavy emphasis with each "act" on making the characters stand out and saying something about them, and plots don't just conclude right then and there; character arcs are still on-going. It's quite the watch so far and I'm glad I chose it as my first Sentai. |

I wanted to see Don Momotarou's matsuri gang get a focus episode like the kurokos did, but too bad it never happened.

Just finished my rewatch of Dynaman and the show is just as fun and enjoyable as it is the first time I watched it years ago.
