If they're bent on getting figures remade like they did with Kabuto then figures like kuuga and agito and so forth have a really good chance of getting a renewal figure as the originals weren't very show accurate as they were among some of the first figuarts and thus had the problems that went with that like mishapen head sculpts and really thin body proportions.
Also MAAD CASHH And to haul news, managed to grab myself a Figuarts hardboilder for 5000 yen, it's not the best bike, but considering how much it goes for on ebay and other places I'm pretty darned pleased with myself. Now I have most of the Neo-heisei bikes except for OOO. |
Kuuga and Agito are both Riders with cult followings.
If we get another Renewal, my money's on one of them. |
Speaking of Agito, anyone else disappointed with the recent Agito releases, obviously Burning Form had that shoulder problem, but, what annoyed me the most was the scale of Shining form. He looks rather large standing next to most of the other SHF i have, he even is taller than Burning form who came out a little earlier.
While im at it, King Form also looks like a wee skinny midget dressed in heavy armour standing next to Blade + Garren base form. |
I don't wanna be "that guy" but it does kinda feel like the Figuarts are all over the map QCwise. They've been around for less than ten years, right? So I'm amazed standing my collection side by side the massive range of builds, materials and looks.
You've got figures like Flame Style Wizard which is literally like a 3D jigsaw, DekaBlue which is hilariously thin, figures like the renewal Black which feels like it's made from a plastic so cheap it may as well be polystyrene but then you have figures like Zolda with the gorgeous sculpt, amazing articulation and diecast feet. It's just mental. |
I really don't think DekaBlue is too skinny nor do I think Black 2.0 feels cheaply made. Zolda is cool, but he is far from being anywhere near my favorites. And honestly, I don't give a crap about the die-cast feet. I feel like it made the feet more fragile on those that had them.
|
If you don't think DekaBlue is too skinny then you must have never seen DekaRanger or SPD. The guy literally has sticks for arms and legs.
And I know a lot of people like the Black Renewal but his lack of accessories and the fact that he has zero weight to him makes him feel uber cheap to me. I don't hate him as much as I do Flame Style but he's up there with my least favourites. Zolda is one of my favourite Figuarts, along with - ironically - the MMPR Rangers. Also I LOVE diecast feet. |

I'll give you the effects...but then I'm a total effect addict lol...still though his QC is fine. He's about the same weight as Shadow Moon. I do agree about some figures just lacking, Wizard's driver...gods...but you know a real let down? ZX...I've just given up putting the scarf on him, and his accessories are just a let down.
|
I'm honestly surprise about hearing the complaint about Renewal Black feeling cheaply made. While he is light, his design wasn't exactly one that had a lot of armor on him to begin with. The original Black probably would have felt the same way if he didn't have the diecast feet.
As for hands, what other hands could he have possibly come with? He's a brawler Rider and comes with every type of hand gesture he'd need. You have fists, straight hands, calm hands, posing hands and grasping hands. That's literally all the types a Rider like him would even use. |
Sentai Rangers have no armour at all and they're still able to have weight. Black feels practically hollow he's so light. And with no effects pieces to recreate all his signature moves he's a wasted opportunity.
|
Effect pieces don't make the figure though. You don't have to have them to put him in a Rider Kick, Punch, or Chop pose or even his King Stone Flash pose. He comes with all of the hands needed to do poses as well as grip onto his bike. He isn't a wasted opportunity at all, especially since the original Black is just a fail in the design department.
|
I think accessories are as important as the figure in a line like Figuarts. Where one figure comes with everything and the next, nothing.

As for the accessories, he has the hands. Sure, I guess they could have had him come with the Satan Saber for the whole 2 minutes he held it, but you can just take that from Shadow Moon is you need to. Black has the hands to put him into his stances, his henshin pose, and his fits for punching. There is nothing else to give him. He also didn't have anything flashy for when he did his kick or punch moves. Quote:

Yeah, but he was still priced at the same price as the other Figuarts. Figuarts constantly have accessories for their other members, I don't see why he couldn't include something for his team mates. I love him, but its just not the same opening a Figuart and not having a heap of accessories to try out.

Maybe he would've been better off as a Figuart Zero and double-packed with Ryuji like Basco and Sally were? |
I definitely prefer him as a Figuart to a ZERO, heck in a perfect world Sally would've been a Figuart with cymbal accessories, but I still would've like something little extra over nothing. I don't regret him and he's very pretty, but he was pretty much the last Sentai Figuart I needed before my collection was complete for a reason.
|
Black renewal was my favorite figuart of last year. When I open him out of the box, I was blown away on how amazing he looks. The detail on him made me drooling on how amazing he looks. I can't wait to own Kabuto and Black renewal.
I can be okay with lack of accessories as long if the figure is good enough to work on it's own. It's not like some of the recent MA figures where they charge you $50 for bare bone figures like G64. |
Zolda's probably the most weapon-centric Rider ever. I wouldn't expect any Rider to really match him in the accessory department without the accessory being kinda unnecessary.

I honestly don't want any more renewals for a while. Just finish up the (KR) series you haven't finished and then move on to doing a few renewals.
|
Agree, but I would like to see Kuuga renewal for this fall. Next year, they can do Agito and another rider from Kabuto. We still need ZO and J soon.

And then for the shits and giggles do a Skull Man :lol |

Black may not have iconic weapons, but he has iconic moves and as he has no weapons why not fill the tray space where those weapons would be for effects pieces to greater capture his special abilities? Failing that, why not do a Faiz and Garren and pack him with Battle Hopper? I just don't think at full price Black is worthwhile on a good sculpt alone. Maybe that is just me, but I stand by that. |

I would hate it if Bandai decided to start packing the bikes with every rider and I'm glad that Garren was the only attempt. The bikes are well done, definitely, but they take up a lot of space in a display and packing them with their riders: A.) Jacks up the price B.) Forces me to buy something I don't want. |
I do think every Rider figuart should be packaged with their back. That is just common sense. However, Locke, Black would cost the same packaged with Battle Hopper as it would to buy the two separately.
I'm all for accessories. I love them. It is one of the things that sets the Figuarts apart from other lines. However, not everything is going to fit every character. I definitely feel that if they are web exclusives, they deserve to come with more than just the bare minimum. However, once again, there is NOTHING else they could have given Black. He came with everything he needed. |
Another reason is that not every rider series had as much involvement with the riders using their bikes and Blade did, I mean the riders in Blade used them as their mode of f**king transportation cause of how random the location of each undead was, but honestly it'd only make sense to do a rider & bike pack release for an exclusive release & not a regular retail release.

And as someone said, the price of getting both Black and Battle Hopper would more or less be the same, regardless if they're packaged individually or together, so packing in battle hopper wouldn't really make a difference. For example, Garren and Red Rhombus is about the same price as getting both Blade and Blue Spader. Quote:
For starters, nobody in Ryuki actually rode their bikes (or mopeds, in Shinji's case),if they even had one, while in Rider form so even if they were packed with their bikes, it wouldn't even make sense. |
I still stand by it being a weak figure, you guys can love it and I'm glad but nothing you've said in this thread has changed my mind.
|
I'd kill for Shinji's moped :lol
