I can kinda see where you're coming from with Victory Robo, seeing as they show all of the cables and whatnot, but there's nothing about GingaiOh that says realistic in the slightest.

Speaking of which, I watched 30-32 of that show today. The Gavan teamup was rather... odd, I'll give it that. But then again spending all of that time in the alternate dimension instead of focusing on flashy Gavan and Red Buster fighting would lead to that. Not liking this whole new direction sorta thing. I'll consider it a Hibiki tragedy and call it a day.

I'd say give it a few more episodes before you throw in the towel. The Gavan team up episodes are actually two of the weakest ones in the retooled portion of the show.

Up through episode 9 of Zyuranger already. A monkey prince and his servants warp through space in a Volkswagen Beetle to get the Zyurangers' help in protecting two eggs that are going to be used to repopulate the dinosaurs.

This show is weird.

And speaking of, I finished Zyuranger...It's a pretty damn good series. I'm not sure if I consider it better than Jetman, but it's very much on par with it. While Jetman had a strong Ranger character in Gai, I think Zyuranger had the stronger overall story.

Agreed. If anything Go-Buster is a reverse Hibiki. It started out pretty poor and grew into something far better than I could have imagined at the outset.

Zyuranger #14 - Daizyujin vs. an obnoxious kid. Have I mentioned that this show is weird?

I'm used to having a lot of random kids in 80s and 90s tokusatsu, but Zyuranger is really going nuts with this. Every episode is going to have random kids of the week, aren't they?

Yeah, unfortunately they do. That is the biggest downside to ZyuRanger, but I'll take it over almost any series released in the last 10 years.

There is a girl that is kidnapped through her sink in one episode, and then in the next, she is kidnapped again through her sink and eaten by the plant monster of the episode.

Actually, I'm pretty sure some of the kids appear more than once, but I never kept track of a single kid's name in the show. Personally, I consider the Child of the Week to be a charm of older Sentai and Rider that you just don't get these days.

In the grand scheme of things, the child of the week in zyuranger makes sense. I am in the process of re-watching zyuranger in fact. I'm up to episode 45. Personally i'm really enjoying the series.

I don't really mind it, either, but Zyuranger is the first show I've seen where every single episode, without fail, has the random kids. Even V3, Skyrider, and Black still had the occasional episode that didn't revolve around child guest stars.

I just ordered the full season of Gokaiger, so once that arrives I'll start devouring that.

Watched the first three episodes of Akibaranger with my wife. I watched the first couple on my own a few months ago but lost interest (don't know why). I absolutely love this show :) I'm also on episode 9/10 of Jetman.

Up to episode 26 of Zyuranger. Mei and Dan temporarily turned evil and totally murdered some people. What the hell, show?

Did you forget the random unexplained time travel set pieces? Them murdering people is pretty low on the WTF meter in this episode.

I'm at episode 36 of Abaranger, the episode where Kera turned into a boy. Its a cute episode especially when he saw an ice cream statuette and just hugged it. Still waiting on Asuka to rejoin the team after his "death".

My computer died last Thursday, so rather than watching more Shinkenger, which I was in the middle of, I started Boukenger, because I had that downloaded to an external hard drive that I can use on my wife's computer.

I've seen three episodes, and so far, I think it's pretty great. I find I'm enjoying it about as much as I have been Shinkenger. I like the vehicles and combined form, I'm starting to really like the uniforms, and i like the characters, none of them are annoying or stupid.

Really? I'm having the hardest time getting into Boukenger. Even harder than I did getting into Goseiger...

Yeah, really. I wonder how much of it is that I WANT to like Boukenger. I watched maybe half of Gokaiger, and a third of Dekaranger, but I was just watching to see how they were, I had nothing invested in the shows, and I didn't enjoy them all that much.

With Boukenger, I'm planning on getting SHF Bouken Red, and I already own Black & Gold Ultimate Daibouken, so i wonder if I'm in anyway sub-consciously convincing myself I need to like it, because I've already spent money on the property.

Or maybe it's just the right blend of fun for me.

Half the time I watched Boukenger I found myself just bored. The characters are bland with hints of "We'll explain things later," the fights are standard Sentai fare with nothing to set it apart from other series, the villains, while interesting in the fact that there are 3 groups of them, are bland because I don't find any of them to be interesting to watch.
And I've noticed that all (Not some. Not most. Literally all) of Boukenger's praise comes from it's designs, which is something I hate, because looking good isn't a good exchange for a boring story.

I still contest that it's a fun story that truly picks up with the Ashu/Questers/Bouken Silver arc. The designs are rock solid but it has a good story as well.

Shinkenger on the other hand.... I had to force that one down. It took me well over a year and a half to finish it. It was just so bad, so slow, so boring. Flat characters, ridiculous mecha combos (this coming from someone who LOVES G12). Shinkenger did nothing for me. Aside from Jiya. HE fucking rocked that entire show.

The mecha combos in Shinkenger are silly, but for some reason, I kinda like them. I liked that the characters themselves came up with the way for the Tiger, Beetle and Swordfish combine with Shinkenoh, almost like that explains why it's goofy.
It is kinda slow, but I haven't found it boring yet.

I do find the pre-fight posing in Boukenger to be utterly ridiculous, and lame looking. But I like the way the combining of the vehicles is made to look possible rather than just magically floating together and combining. I guess Dekaranger also did that, and I appreciated it then too.
