When I can have my MegaSwampert and MegaEmpoleon I'll be happy. Until then, I don't care that much. I don't like MegaVenasaur (Megasaur), but MegaToise and MegaZard look cool.

Anyways the pokemon bank was long due, it's nice they finally decided to do it.

While MegaVenusaur isn't much to look at, Thick Fat as an ability is pretty damn handy as it negates two of his weaknesses.

Well seeing as how MegaBlaziken was shown too,maybe they will release all starters with Mega forms.

Knowing pokemon,it probably gains a move specifically because it has 3 cannons.they always do.

I want D-Arts to advance beyond Gen 1, honestly. I have tons of nostalgia for it and I love it to death, but there are so many other good designs in other gens, too, like Feraligatr, Milotic, Blaziken, Deoxys, Torterra, Lucario, and Mienshao.

So where do I get my Chespin then? I'll probably grab Deathturtle for the 3 Deathturtle Cannons of Death, but I still want to know about those new 3 starters.

Unless, no... Game Freak would never do that. Why would they decide to have you catch your starters in a micro-Safari Zone that only stocks Chespins, Froakies and Fennekins? That's just improbable!

Your in game friend gives one to you while the professor of the game gives you one of the kanto starters.

I'm totally going Chespin and Charmander.
Mainly because Water is always an overabundant type.

Definitely getting Squirtle, which means Froakie is definitely out and reopens the position to Fennekin. I'm currently undecided between it and Chespin.

The Kanto megas are...meh. Venasaur is the only good one IMO appearance wise.

I just think it looks better. Blastoise is pretty good looking, but it just seems off a bit. And Charizard...Charizard looks pretty retarded in his mega form. But eh, it's all a matter of personal taste.

I hope Gen6 fixes the lack of gendered pronouns among the 700+ Pokémon species. I really find it stupid that a Froslass or a Taros are referred to as "it" when Gen2 established gender beyond the two Nidoran lines.

I'm not happy about the Pokemon Bank thing. Lots of grey areas for people who don't live in places which has Nintendo Market support but if it keeps out the hacked Pokemon in the next Gen then I guess I can accept it. 5 bucks a year seems ok for a system I'm likely to use just once.

Maybe if they tried sweetening the pot a little with more random Shiny drops.

It's apparently a free service for the first few months, by the time i'ts actually a paid service i'd already out grown my use for it and started my female Black playthrough.

No, it's not bad. I'm right there with you on wanting a D-Arts Mega Blastoise.

That seems to be the general idea. I guess for the hardcore who will likely make this a Day 1 purchase, clear the actual game in a week (or less) and access the Poke Transporter system within the first month to transfer every Pokemon they have over to the new Gen.

For the record the subscription fee isn't my gripe. Its just the logistics behind Nintendo implementing this Worldwide that has me worried. Like the eShop and how outside of the US and Japan it hasn't been available more easily.

Also, while I enjoyed the Dream World features in the current Gen, the limitations (self-imposed ones mainly) that the feature had were a point of concern.

I mean the worst thing that could happen would be a Server failure that wipes out all your Pokemon data mid-transfer...I just had this bitter taste in the back of my tongue.

Anyway, I hope there is an in-game way to conduct cross-Gen transfer. It would put any Diablo 3-type fears to rest.

I'm excited for the new Mega Evolutions and the Pokemon bank thing sounds okay, but what I really want to know is that will this game be compatible with patching and DLC?

Patching could solve a lot of the competitive issues, and balance the game, and stupid overpowered Pokemon glitch shit that happens a lot.

DLC would be pretty cool for Pokemon, I would imagine I'd probably be packs of new monsters and challenges like Gym leaders instead of new areas. I mean, its gonna take forever and a half to upgrade the new 3D engine for the next installment, so this is your second best option to getting a game a year.

I doubt there'd be DLCs for new Monsters. The idea of getting either Y or X is because the most of the Pokemon are on either or. And they still have the Wi-Fi Gift system so getting new items which may or may not unlock certain quests are bound to be available.

I do agree on Patching but...Well to put it this way, even in the new era of patching, there are companies that would rather put out a completely overhauled but essentially similar product (i.e. Street Fighter 4 -> Super Street Fighter 4 -> Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition -> Ultra Street Fighter 4).

Moreso, Patching for Balance requires two things: an extremely vocal and active competitive fanbase, which Pokemon most certainly has. And a dedicated group within Game Freak primarily tasked with tweaking the game constantly throughout its life. I don't think Game Freak as a company has that kind of manpower under its belt.

But here are my questions: can you transfer Gen4 mons this way and is the 2 console transfer method officially dead?

i believe they only said Gen 5 games work with the new transfer system so no.

Well...If I were to guess, there probably is no "Trade" function in the Pokemon Bank which would actually be a big miss in my opinion.

So if you wanted to Trade Pokemon through the traditional methods I could probably see that continuing. But If we're talking Gen4 to Gen5...well see the logistics of it come into play.

Is there a specific named account you need to set up which you need to link up to your X or Y? I mean you do "register" your HG/SS/ B/W/B2/W2 with the Pokemon Global Link to access your Dream World and gifts and such right? So that means you need to link up your X and Y to the same profile and create the Bank.

Maybe that was what Dream World was all this while, a testing concept for the Bank. Think about it, you upload your Pokemon's "Ghost Data" to the DW, after that you catch whatever Pokemon you find and this "unlocks" the data on your game Card.

I could be completely off the mark here so take this with a bucket full of salt. As it stands we're all mainly in the dark here.
