Sorry, I've just put my head back together from the 50th. Still need to watch the Five-ush Doctors though, after only seeing the first two minutes. Seems really funny.

The first two minutes are nothing compared to the hilarity that ensues. By the way, did you watch An Adventure in Space and Time? It's a must watch!

I was surfing and found this video on all the openings of all the Doctors. The classic ones seem very imaginative with all the trippy effects and sequences. Seems like they're trying to recapture that with the latter-half Series 7 opener.

Nice grab, Comic! I love the new opening. I just wish they'd have kept that cool DW TARDIS logo.

But watching those got me thinking. After Jenna leaves, I think the Doctor should have another Companion from another planet. It's been a long time since he brought on someone who wasn't from Earth. And it'd be different.

I really liked how the newest opening takes so many cues from the Classic Series. From the busy particle and sound effects to the appearance of the Doctor's face, it's my favourite New Series opening yet.

They say the first few Doctors' openings were trippy, I say Colin Baker's and Sylvester McCoy's are the trippiest! :lol

I had hoped Clara would be from space in her appearance as Oswin in Asylum of the Daleks, but that didn't come to pass.

Clara existed solely to lead into Day of the Doctor. So I'm hoping her time is over and we can get an alien now :lol And I mean a real alien. Like that bug lady that unknowingly helped The Master in utopia.

You overestimate how interested the casual audience is in seeing that. Which is why every companion so far as been a 20-something Earth female :(

Clara has tons of potential that is still unexplored, so I hope they give her more to do.

That is true too, so I think the first step is at least a human from another time period. Man, Clara was both a space girl AND from the past and they chose to go with the 21st century version. :lol

I think the trouble is finding the right spot for a spin-off starring those 3. In general they're a bit too kiddy for adult time slots and a bit too adult for kiddy ones.

Watched episode 1 of Tennats run, cool dude, Rose had to step up, funny as crap to see :lol

Yep, that came around in season 2.

I would watch the hell out of that show, they are my favorite characters.

Strax is easily the best of the trio, I'd watch it for him if nothing else. But Jenny & Vastra are also a delight to see interact with other characters.

Torchwood is a very mixed show. Its not particularly great in quite a lot of places but when its good its VERY good.

When do you think is a good time to start it?

That's the problem, it's one of those series that you need to have seen all of to get the most out of.

Season 1 is so-so, I have friends who really like it but I wasn't hugely impressed.
Season 2 is much better.
Season 3 (Children of the Earth) is excellent, but kinda runs off the impact of the last season's end.
Season 4 (Miracle Day) is so-so. The fact it was American-made works both in and against its favour.

As long as you're aware of the characters you should be fine as far as Doctor Who viewing is concerned. Although season 4 has a cameo from the rest of the cast which again, kinda ties into the end of Torchwood s2. It's nothing you can't read up on in about 30 seconds if you aren't bothered about spoilers though :lol

Okay, I think I saw some of Miracle Day before and was confused as hell. :lol So I guess Ill try to watch some of it later when I ahead of Who.

Also fair warning that Torchwood is a more explicit and graphic series than anything Doctor Who has done. For me, that kind of turned me off the show.

Explicit as in everybody bangs and snogs each other left and right. And they drop the occasional f-bomb :lol

Oh yeah, there's that too. The first season in particular is just "sex and aliens" half the time :lol

I think the one episode I watched was the one where the chick disintergrates you after doing it. It was funny to watch :lol

Got this over the weekend, the cardboard diorama is a bit meh but I'm absolutely in love with the hoverbout vehicle. Seeing something from the 60s comics reimagined as a toy for the modern series is an absolute dream come true.
