Nah, next will be the movie suits from the 90s movie, then metallic armor, then comic versions with them all in green, then comic versions from when they switched colors, and on and on and on.
Can't we please just get some monsters in this line? Also, I really hope these Tommy's have new heads. Green with his season 1 hair and Red with his long hair, not in a pony tail. If they are going to do Tommy twice in one wave, at least do it right. |
Glad to finally finish out the MMPR team, but I really hope that Green Ranger is a prototype or something and not the finished product because the lack of the white diamonds is really glaring. But considering their recent track record with Dino Thunder White and Omega Ranger, it seems that the drop in paint quality is the new trend, not just a fluke.
|
These are not prototypes. We wouldn't see them here. We'd see them in a Hasbro office. I think this is Malaysia so it's not like they pulled them from production.
I got the GI Joe figures they just released and see reviews for upcoming Marvel legends. Why can't the PR figures good consistent paint apps? I'm not saying perfect or every possible one but Hasbro seems to get lazy. Even if a team are PR fans, they can compare pictures. As to this wave. Will Space Yellow and Zeo Red have their signature weapons? MMPR Green not having his chest painted is Bandai territory. MMPR Black morpher might be the usual QC issues. Though I've always had to line the circles with a paint pen. It's sorta a meh wave if you've gotten the MMPR figures before. I get the Tommy thing but without the head, two very different looking figures. Add on that in the Sentai they certainly aren't the same character. Now if Hasbro taps into Boom comics for more MMPR themed rangers, I don't count that as MMPR. Even the redesigned green would be different enough. But a metallic line.........I'm personally not interested at least to take a wave slot. |
It's really odd that Green doesn't have the diamonds on his chest considering the Fighting Spirit version does. This is DC Gold all over again.
And chances are we won't be getting a break from MMPR anytime soon. There's still the Stone Canyon Trio, Kat, a solo release of Rita, the Movies, Metallic Armor, the Comic characters, etc. Personally now that I'll be getting my favorite Ranger, I'd love for them to make Army Builder 2-Packs of the Z-Putties and Tenga. Heck, do that for all the mooks in the series. I imagine Zeo Red will have the same accessories as Zeo Blue, so hunt down the Legacy Zeo Red if you want his compressed sword, I guess. |
Yeah from Rocky I imagine every Zeo ranger aside from gold will just have the uniform weapons.
|
Why do the girls always have bowed legs?!

I think anything from Boom Comics doesn't really count as MMPR. Sans the gender swaps those designs are generally original. I don't see Hasbro say putting the season 3 MMPR team into a wave but I can see a team pack or some exclusive. Well the Zeo Pod is the same for everyone. Quote:
The plastic is thin and it's already a flexible one. The packaging conditions them to bend. I honestly go not understand why Hasbro thinks female figures need to be so radically different. Use the same joints as the male figures. There is no reason why they need to be so drastically different. I remember watching that pulse video on MMPR Pink. They didn't provide a reason why they needed just build a whole new body. |

At the end of the day though it's not the end of the world or anything, so I don't want to make too big a fuss over it. Honestly I'm quite happy about the rest of this wave, especially Zeo Red. I understand the Tommy fatigue a lot of people are experiencing, but I love the Zeo suits, so I'll gladly take multiple Tommy figures if it means more Zeo. |
Hasbro hit the ground running but is now losing steam. Lack of weapons for Zeo and now the lack of paint for Green, and that gold. My Gundam markers shouldn’t work this hard. WTF Hasbro?

Wow....Green looks....awful...rough...This can't be the final product.
All of them look rough...If this is what we're getting, something is definitely wrong... |
Aside from the lack of a white diamond on Green's chest I don't understand what's so wrong with these? The gold in particular looks fine to me and none of them seem to have any major problems.
|
I'm happy to finally get a single release Green as I hate that fighting spirit helmet. I guess ill try and get black too even though I already have the first release gold armor version.
The real issue here is once again distribution, local stores don't have the MMPR Blue wave and my local toy shop has had trouble getting the wave too |
Not having the white diamonds on Green Ranger is disappointing, especially since the first release has them. Just Hasbro pinching pennies where ever they can with this line. They started out being rather good, but recent releases show they are cutting back paint apps and seems to be using a cheaper factory considering all the complaints with paint app issues.
I loved the line when it first came out. I never owned a Marvel Legends figure, but when I got LC White Ranger and Zedd I was blown away and so I got into Legends because of how good the Wave 1 LC figures were. Now? Nothing but Rangers in every series and poor/missing paint apps. I had hope that each series would contain 1 villain. Now it seems like we won't get a villain if it means having to make a unique mold. |
Not a huge surprise that the Power Ranger line is full of Power Rangers.
If Power Rangers was just the one or two teams I'd think they focus on the baddies more. But it's not. There are loads of comments asking for this and that ranger. So yeah Hasbro is going to focus on the various rangers as a priority. But we do have like what 25 teams and 5-6 members. Though you are ignoring Goldar/Rita/Psychos/Blaze/Drakkon. The line in a quarter through year 2. The QC issues are no excuse but this line is still a toddler. |
I don't much understand the complaints about a lack of villains. Like, sure, it'd be cool but... it's also 100% to be expected? PR as a brand relies almost solely on the Rangers for marketing and is constantly where the money is, with very few if any villains outside of MMPR and [Current Series] being on that level. It doesn't help that a lot of them sadly aren't that memorable either, often being generic evil for the sake of evil characters with sick designs inherited from the Sentai. ... also skeletons, PR surprisingly finds a great niche in always designing cool skeletons.
What you're left with is a lot of unrecognisable unremarkable villains that won't sell and literal MOTWs. Go up to any Power Rangers fan and outside of a small handful of villains like Trakeena or Mesogog and they likely won't be able to name a lot of big bads. And frankly, we've gotten a LOT of villains in LC despite all this. A lot more than could reasonably be expected. |
On the topic of villains I'm actually surprised we haven't gotten a Scorpina figure yet, even as a GameStop exclusive or something, considering how oddly popular she's become over the years. Maybe when she's added to BFTG later this year.
|
It's not too surprising to me given they're keeping a slow enough pace with the MMPR villains. We got Zedd, then Goldar, then Putties, then Rita (who is still yet to get a standard release). Scorpina and Rito are the most likely ones next.

Honestly, Hasbro might be stretched a bit thin with all the toylines they've got going on. Their output is crazy right now. You've got Marvel Legends, you've got the Transformers line (both WFC and Studio Series are killing it), they've got Star Wars and now G.I. Joe Classified as well....
I wouldn't be surprised if Power Rangers is getting less money put into it than their other lines, since even they've said Power Rangers is a tier below the other stuff they're putting out. That being said, if certain cuts have to be made for the sake of the budget, I wish it wouldn't be in such obvious places, like DT White's helmet or Dino Charge Gold's color. I'm not a huge stickler for show accuracy so long as they generally capture the look of the character, but some mistakes have been pretty egregious. Honestly, I could take or leave the effects pieces if it meant better paint detailing or getting the signature weapons. |

One thing I think alot of these figures could definitely benefit from are "Deluxe Versions" that certain Marvel Legends figures sometimes get. Somewhat higher pricepoint($30-40) for better paint and alot more accessories. But yeah, it's clear this wave is particular is meant to help save money on the budget, which I imagine more went towards the recent Exclusives like Drakkon Evo III. Hopefully things will pick back up again with the next Wave. |
I consider this a good wave, I didn't get the fighting spirit set or armoured black so the regular figures are great as well as the other two (I didnt collect legacy either) and I'm very hopeful that this means we pump the breaks on the MMPR stuff
|
This looks like a good wave to me, hope they do the 90's movie suits next since they're done with the core team from mighty morphin, Ecliptor and Darkonda would be excellent additions too for waves 7 and beyond, do hope we see some Turbo Rangers here too, maybe have TJ and the rest of the mid season replacements as mainline, and Tommy's team as a team pack exclusive (since then I could just ignore the exclusive pack and grab the retail), those would be awesome in this line
|
If they are going to have to save some pennies. The first thing to do is not bite off more then they can chew.
DC Gold and Drakkon in the same wave? DC Gold should have been say DC Black so it would have been a simple head swap. Wave 4 - Nix blaze so Zeo Blue could have his tonfas. Heck DC Green would have been solid or BM Silver. They seemed to wise up with the last wave. What bothers me more about DT White is that it's an exclusive. They horribly screwed up an exclusive. I do think the limitations of this body are causing some addition issues. The Gi Joe Snake Eyes/Red Ninja bodies would be superior. They could lose a paint app for example with a new neck. They may need to bite the bullet and adopt a new ball joint that makes other figures compatible because this super large ball joint doesn't work with swappable heads. |

I want unique looking monsters, like Goldar. Hasbro does some great work with Marvel Legends figures like Sugarman, Abomination, Monster Venmon, Sauron, etc. A Power Rangers display of just rangers and evil rangers is boring. Even the Putties, which I like, are just the basic MMPR body in gray. I am happy to have them, but really want to see some more off the wall monster designs like Rito, Pudgy Pig, Pumpkin Rapper, etc. |

Wave 6 has finally gotten official images, and there's a few pretty decent surprises in there:-
- Biggest one right of the bat is that we're NOT getting MMPR Green this wave - we're instead getting Goldar! It's a wingless variant it looks like and I can't tell because I'm about to jet off to work but he seems like he's got some other colour variations too. - In Space Yellow comes with both her gun and her signature slingshot weapon! That bodes pretty well for the rest of the In Space Rangers, aside from just being great news on its own. - Zeo Red actually comes with his own signature sword in addition to the generic Zeo one and the blaster! Bit of a surprise after Zeo Blue, probably because it's one weapon instead of two like Blue's tonfas? Might be able to expect Green's axe and Pink's shield at this rate. Though it does make me wish they just included two tonfas with Blue instead of the sword if they can do 3 weapon pieces for the Zeo rangers. - MMPR Black's headsculpt is, uh, oh dear. That's not very good, is it https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfXPcI3X...jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfXPW5QX...pg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfXPW5RX...jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfXPW5WW...jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfXPRnVX...jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfXPRnSW...jpg&name=large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfXPZLCX...jpg&name=large |

It's also making me think that MMPR Green is yet another exclusive they messed up on. Quote:
Makes me wonder if the upcoming stream is just gonna be about these figures or if they have another surprise in store for us. |
Zeo Red getting the show production wise is just odd. They couldn't save that much vs one or the other.
Goldar may be a better overall gold or it's the studio lights and a little photoshop. Otherwise it's a wave that some people may partially pass on because they already own the figures. |
AND here's promo images of Dino Thunder White!

Just got a shipping notification for my pre-order of the Wedding 2-Pack, so I guess it's getting released two weeks early. I'll be sure to do a comparison between this Zedd and the first release one.
|
So the missing black on the visor really is part of the final copy, huh...
That's a hell of a disappointment. |
Apparently Space Yellow sold out hella fast. Good sign for In Space fans, since that'll likely mean more figures for that season in the future.
|
Awesome! Looking at the website, the same thing happened with MMPR Black -- though pre-orders are now back open for both of them; for a second shipment in October.
It's great to see, especially when in that very same wave is a Red Ranger who's from Zeo and is Tommy. Like. That's three huge things that should scream 'instantly sold out', but In Space takes the win here instead! |
Black sold out again on Pulse.
Space yellow was always going to be produced in lower quantities. So this method I think in the end get these figures sold. |
I'm disappointed they have Zack his season 2 hair. I get it, but still disappointed. Possibly the weakest wave for actor sculpts. Lynn Cruz has gotten it rough, and Tommy looks more like his brother.
Hope we get the blue Zeo tonfas at some point. |
Quote:
I'm just glad I got to be one of the first to pre-order Zack and Goldar. Really looking forward to them. Quote:
|
The cynic in me wants to argue Ashley only seems popular because people would rather order her than a Zack or Goldar they already own, but then Zack sold equally good anyway, and they're both ahead of Tommy! (Or they planned that and stocked a bunch more of him, who knows?)
Odd that Wave 6 showed up instantly over here on every site I've seen but still no signs of SPD Omega (my truest desire) or DT White. Typical Hasbro UK dickery I imagine, but still don't like it. |
