I like how it takes the red accents from Rising Hopper and makes them more prominent and fills out the arms but the rest of the suit is way too similar. It feels more like a Zi-O II than a final form. I don't hate it or anything but it's very meh compared to Rampage Vulcan and Valkyrie Lightning Hornet.

All I remember in regards to the rumors at least from what I heard that apparently Toei was in a legal dispute in trying to be allowed to use the name for the new Rider since apparently the name is already copyrighted by a well known IP or something along those lines? Someone can correct me but that's the only rumor I've heard.

I think I'm turning around on it. If this does turn out to be the actual final form, it would be really neat to have it be, like others have said, a direct hardware upgrade from the base form.

That said, if this is the final form, the undersuit or at least the chest really should be different so it doesn't feel as much like a kitbash.

To be fair, 02's design theme is clearly Showa, and Rider 1 and Rider 2 look very similar, so the look being very samey is deliberate

In my opinion, it's not a bad form, it's just... kinda underwhelming? I mean, even with the defense of the "early 2000s Riders had simple final forms", they were still really visually different from the base form. Like even with Faiz Blaster Form and Agito Shining, the simplest ones, you'd be hard-pressed that there aren't bigger visual differences. Like I understand that Zero-One is a pretty big throwback to the Showa era, but it's still.... eh.

What I think is the case for Zero-Two is that it's going to be the new base form rather than the final form altogether. 'Cuz like, if it was the final form, wouldn't the scans be advertising it as such? Instead it's been "new form" rather than "final form" from what I've seen people say. Like I think at the very least we'll get one more new Progrise Key for Zero-Two 'cuz I think there'd be room for it. Though considering the usual pacing, maybe not?

It could be a movie form. It would work well as a movie form more than a final form imo. I get the homage, it's just underwhelming after Metalcluster and Rampage Vulcan.

It's getting off topic but why do I got a feeling that it will be a LuPat situation where the guy gets more upgrade than the girl? Unless the dual protagonist is basically Double 2.0 (or 3.0? Because Drive is Double 2.0). Or OOO 2.0.

I love Zero-Two's design. I have loved a ton of the final form designs, Muteki Gamer, Mugen Damashii, Grand Zi-O, Infinity Style, etc, but I like how Zero-One's final form is meant to be a simple but obvious upgrade to the base suit.

It's similar to Kuuga and Ultimate Kuuga. Same overall design as the base, notable changes to show you how much more powerful it has become.

Pleeeease don't kill me... But this is my least favorite Zero One form so far.

While the typical power-up seems to be mostly about "adding and growing", this feels more like "break it down and rebuild it better" based on the accumulated experience and know-how which must be why this feels refreshing compared to most previous final forms if this indeed is that.

I mean.
It's his grandfather who entrusted him with the Zero One Driver, and it's his father who designed it and thought about Zero One being the protector of human and humagear.
So I really hope the idea itself of a "Zero Two" comes from Aruto himself and is not a case of Izu being "hey Aruto-sama, Zea is telling me she can do that. let's try it". It would show how he grows as a president and is able to follow in his family members footsteps towards the same goal.

I would love it that it's him who think about it, the design (hence why it's so simple and close to the original) and all. It would make him look like a real entrepreneur somehow to design a product :'D

I highly doubt it's a movie form, no way are they having you put something on the belt, and likely IN the belt for that Big Bang sound, but it's listed as retail for 3580 yen or so, movie stuff tends to be premium bandai these days and even then, the toys for movie forms never have unique designs

I mean, that seems to be one of the general opinions about Zero-Two. You either really like it for its simplicity, or don't like it because of its simplicity. Or the middle ground where people think it's an alright form, but not necessarily final form material.

Again, I think it might just be a new base form rather than a final form, since we haven't seen it being advertised as such. What I think about be interesting though is that instead of a different Progrise Key granting the "final form", it's just Zero-Two versions of Shining Assault or Metalcluster Hopper. Like that would be interesting to me.

A 02 MCH could be cool to see. But I'll wait and see where this goes

Some people on Reddit are theorizing that this might just be the “base form” for his final form, and that Arturo will be able to upgrade some of the previous forms with the 02 driver. I feel like I’ll like this form a lot more if that’s the case, since as it stands, I’m in the “too simple” camp.

I'm kind of in love with Zero-Two already and it has nothing to do with the design. I mean, of course it doesn't. Every suit design in this show has been downhill since Rising Hopper... but that's a high bar to clear, so that's not even an issue. It doesn't scream "cool", but I have a feeling I'll start liking it more after seeing it in motion like how Trinity ended up being my favorite design from Zi-O.

What's truly got me excited here is the way they're hyping this not as a new form, but as a new Rider entirely. "Zero-One reborn!" is a much weightier way to put this than the usual "____'s strongest form EVAR!!!!1!" routine. It implies some huge story significance and hopefully a healthy dose of much needed character growth for Aruto, and all of that has me feeling some serious optimism. If the show takes advantage of all this, and this "form" becomes a symbol of the show coming back with a clean slate and riding out the last quarter with renewed vigor, then, questionable mix of colors be damned, this suit could end up having a real big place in my heart.

atleast gimme upgraded versions of zero ones forms THAT would be a cool concept, even if it doesn't happen in the show it'll make for some cool fan art. now i just imagine shining hopper doing sick red fist punch combos...satisfies me.

I think the simplicity is fine, it's the horrid, garish colours that kill it for me.

You know in hindsight, Aruto modifying his belt and giving himself a new Rider name would have been an epic way for him to make a comeback after losing his company to Gai back in episode 30.

Since there's no thread regarding the next rider after Zero-One, I will give my thought on the rumor.

If next rider is a pair (hopefully more like Double/Drive situation) and both of them are a guy and a girl, I wonder what would make strong narrative.

I would be surprised if they do couple route since they forbid actors to do any kissing scenes due to COVID-19 pandemic (unless they find a way for them to show their love for each other)

It could be the best use of romance or the worst use of romance.

But

If they do brother/sister duo, you can go two ways

1. If the male lead is older, he will act like overprotective brother to his sister and the female lead doesn't want to be a little girl anymore and want to help her older brother out.

2. If the male lead is younger, he want to prove his older sister that he's no longer a baby boy anymore and want to become a Kamen Rider alongside her.

I don't know! I just hope they get a head writer who know what to do with the story or else it will be another Ghost situation.

I think this form is probably when the Driver directly taps into Zea or where Izu's consciousness is fused into the Progrise key, or maybe both.

Aruto and Izu fused into one? That sound like a Double, Drive and even Build situation where 2 characters who have a special relationship with each other fused into one (Yes, Sento and Banjo temporarily fused into one during the event of Build summer movie)

Looks like I'm in the "I like it because it's so simple" camp. The new driver parts and new name make it feel like a true rebirth rather than just another power-up, and that combined with the way it resembles a base form makes me almost want it to become Aruto's new default form, despite normally being annoyed when final forms do that! The whole thing reminds me of CycloneJokerXtreme and Type Tridoron in that it's an evolution of the rider's original form, and those were two of my favorite final forms, so I'm pretty hyped.

Even setting aside whether it's the true final form or not, I really like Zero-Two's design. It looks a bit more solid and armored than Rising Hopper or most of Zero-One's other forms, but still sleek and agile, not bulky like ShiningAssaultHopper (which was still a decent form but easily my least favorite). And I appreciate that it has the yellow parts in mostly the same places Rising Hopper had them, on the legs, chest and face, while the new red and silver parts are placed on the arms and side of the head where Rising Hopper just had the plain black undersuit.

What are the chances that they could have the premiere of the new rider be October again just to have a bit more episodes. Because if its resuming broadcast in late June, It wouldn't leave them a lot of episodes if it ends in August as usual.

Well based on past series we should have one more break and if they were to start the new rider in September then Zero-One would have 46 episodes which is one more than Ex-Aid and one less than Gaim. If Toei decided to start the next Rider series in October then Zero-One would have 50 episodes.

In that case I wouldn't be shocked if we go the Kuuga route for the final form and not have it debut until the final battle

Depends on how you look at it, Zi-O's got two Upgrade Routes

Route 1 is the Legend Powers, Decade being the Upgrade Form and Grand being the Super Form

Route 2 is his own powers growing, Zi-O II is the upgrade and Zi-O Trinity is the Super Form.

Both routes merge into Oma Zi-O, so if you wanna get technical. Oma Zi-O is his true final form.

Kind of like how the Oma Zi-O and Geiz Revive timelines merge to create a composite timeline on the Day of Oma? That's an interesting way of looking at it and makes sense considering the original Oma Zi-O didn't even have Trinity. Oma Form in Over Quartzer could be the extra final form after Sougo receives all the powers from his alternate selves.

Maybe we should just do away with the concept of a final form. I understand the need for them to sell merchandise, but man I miss just a classic suit and accessories.

A lot of these power-ups and forms end up being pointless with the many times Riders end up fighting their final fight in their base forms. In Sentai's case the Rangers either finish the fight in their base forms or in civilian form armed with nothing but plot armor and character shields.

To be fair, it's justifiable in some cases, like how in Ex-Aid they used the base forms to remind everyone how much of a horrid fighter Cronus is without his time stop ability, or in Fourze where it's after beating the Sagittarius Zodiarts with all of his forms before using his final form, or how in Build both Evolt and Build were devolving into their weaker forms (though I can't explain why Build turned into RabbitDragon that then turned into RabbitTank, since that's a little inexplicable).

It's debatable when Kamen Rider reached the point of excess with toys (I'd argue somewhere between Wizard and Drive; with W through Fourze managing a very good compromise), but it most certainly is at that point now. Many recent series I could point out a form and a toy that you could very easily have cut and lost little if nothing of significance -- Rabbit/Tank Sparkling; Brave Legacy; Zero-One Shining Assault Hopper... even series with a lot of forms that do manage to have thematic relevance (all of Ghost's upgrades, for instance) it's not hard to imagine that the series would have been even better off with less of them.

It's an issue I've kind of learned to live with, but it does still bug me especially when it becomes predictable what pattern we'll follow and how quickly The Newest Most Powerful Form Evar will fall into irrelevance. I love Build a lot, but Too Many Toys is most certainly an issue with it that I keep grappling with.

I think Ex-Aid has been the worst thus far. From Episode 1 to 27, in every episode there is either a: New Rider, New Form, New Toy or a foreshadowing of a new toy. A quick look through the episode, I'd say 10 out of the 45 episode of Ex-Aid don't introduce or tease anything except for story details.
