Nice paint job! The Zero One team was so cool. Great designs and avoided the sentai trope of each person a primary color.

I've tried. This stuff isn't really strong enough to ensure that you can touch these figures with absolutely zero worries about the stickers peeling. The nail polish method doesn't eat away at the stickers either, as long as you know what you're doing.


The really big difference between nail polish and mod podge is that with nail polish, I can scrape my fingernails against the edges of the stickers(something that will happen if you play with these figures often) with absolutely zero concerns. They literally feel like painted details.

This is true. You can scrape away the mod podge but I don't play wit my sodo's that much. I'll have to get some better nail polish. I tried is using super cheap nail polish from daiso once and it peeled the sticker from the backing. Do you have brand you recommend? Thanks in advance!

I've been using a Sally Hansen "Dries Instantly" Top Coat I picked up at Walgreens, and it's pretty great. Before that, I used my roommate's Sinful Colors Top Coat (less than $2 at Walmart!), which also worked great.

Isn't Daiso quite expensive? I'm surprised not all clear coat nail polishes have the same effect.

I personally use LA Colors Base Coat/Top Coat. It's only a dollar for a 13ml bottle and sold almost everywhere in the US. You could opt for something that dries quickly, but I find that this brand dries really fast as it is, which takes around 20 minutes.

Okay so, poking around this thread it's evident that I'm gonna end up getting hooked on SO-DO now, going foward.

What's the best way to get them? Do individual figures show up on Mandarake pretty easily after release or should I be going with full cases/sets from HLJ/AmiAmi/wherever?

Individual figures from sodo waves from waaay back are easy to find on mandarake, so yup!

If you think for the future wave to go all out and buy everything : full case (or set when they exist) is the best. I would advise to look for the sodo blog update every sunday to see what is in a set and pre order only when you are sure that you really want them (I now only preorder the first set when it appears and wait to see what is in the other before ordering, especially at the end of the show)
If you want only some (or at least choose what figure really interest you), you can either wait some time to see what is available (mandarake or yahoo auction via a middleman). Beware as even if it sound cheaper it usually cost more than the normal price.
Other problem with mandarake is that when you look you should be aware that there is several shop and they each send indivudual parcels, so look for buying from the same store if you see things interesting you.

If you shop from Mandarake, don't buy from Sahra. Sahra's shipping prices are inflated to 200% for some reason, which really sucks because So-Do boxes are so small it would normally cost only around 20 USD for DHL shipping(which is incredible since it arrives in 2-3 days all the way from Japan) for even a big order of like, 10 figures.

I can't speak for every store, but I always make sure my order is packed with at least 14 So-Do boxes, which means every time I shop from Mandarake, the shipping parcel and cost should be the same. So far, Nagoya and Complex have only charged me 16 USD for DHL shipping. Sahra charged me 32 USD for the same thing.

This is pretty important to know since Mandarake will only ship to the US via DHL.

Yeah, the only group shipping out of Japan to America right now are private postal carriers like DHL, UPS, or Fedex, so prices are higher.

Yeah. but it doesn't make sense as to why Sahra is the only store that I know of that has increased shipping prices. As I said, DHL is unbelievably cheap in almost every other Mandarake store I've shopped at.

The Sahra location is not an actual storefront location. It's mostly a warehouse and is not equipped for regular individual sales and shipping.

Fighting Jackal looks cool and all but why are her weapon holding hands a completely different colour to her normal hands?

Probably a decision on which parts to mold it with. Certain amount allocated for each type of plastic, and for a form from the pervious show that hasn't been used in months, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't exactly top priority for the right colour.

Probably why Thouser's are black-painted-gold. It's the mold colour allocation. This also happens with Transformers and is the reason why ER Prime has grey hands painred blue.

Yeah you can see from the Jackal B-box, all the parts are black. Single mold/color.

Painting that white would be a pain. I would just paint all her hands silver.

I wish SODO stands were a little wider. I guess they work well for flying action poses but if you're just trying to stand them, they just stand straight up with feet close together like a doll.

Is anyone going to use them in this new stacking method?

Oof. Turns out stickering Dodo Magia and Kuuga Ultimate one after the other is a pretty bad idea if you don't want to hate yourself. So many stickers all over at weird angles. I planned on doing the boxes in release order, AI09, then Kuuga 2, then AI10. Since the Zero-One stuff tends to be more fun to sticker than Kuuga, I figured it'd be best to place Kuuga in the middle of the two. Unfortunately, I got so caught up in the passion of So-Do that I forgot about my plan, started AI10 immediately after 09, only to remember part way though Dodo. Unfortunately, I realize now that the final box of AI10 is Another Decade with the miserable looking face stickers, so I guess as long as I'm doing them in order of their place in the wave there's no winning

Ha, thanks. Running into a new problem. I've got AI01-10, Double 1, ComboChange 1-2, Kuuga 1-2 and Ride Plus 2 all jammed into some space on a desk and a closet rack, leaving little room for anything besides So-Do. I'm really running out of room. At this point, keeping everything on display isn't an option anymore. I'd be curious to hear if anyone has any suggestions with how they store their So-Do without just dumping it all into a big messy bin

If you're okay with dumping them in a bin but want it to be less messy, you can grab some storage bags to keep individual figures with their pieces.

Or, if you want things to be a little better organized, you can get a figure storage tray. They're a tad more expensive, and the size is... a little problematic (SO-DO are not a common North American size), but they seem like a good option if you want to access your figures frequently.

(EDIT: The 12-compartment is almost perfect. Each compartment is 4.5", which is basically the size of a SO-DO. I'd feel a little better if it was another .25" high, but a basic SO-DO should fit.)

This is just a first pass! I'll keep looking, because this is a problem I'll need to solve for myself very soon.

I don't think that math is totally correct. Assuming the 12-compartment trays can handle SO-DO (94% certain), you'd only need 6 trays. A 3-pack is $49.50. Shipping in the US is $14 for a 3-pack. To get everything you'd need for 61 figures, it'd run you $127. Still not cheap! But a lot cheaper.

Oh, thanks, I see the problem. Swapped a 6 and a twelve. Not nearly as bad then, but a lot more that $5.

On an unrelated note, getting back into Kuuga after taking a while off and strongly regretting skipping the Bluefin release of the Kuuga Rising 4-pack. Anyone pre-order an extra set they don't need or thinking about changing their mind on one they pre-ordered for themselves? I know chances are low but I figure I should still try asking

I also use the bag method and then store them in a bin in the closet.
