Welp, got my first Ultra Act! Been eyeing them for awhile, and decided to toss one on a recent Amazon purchase to push it into the free shipping zone. I chose Evil Tiga because I liked the colors. Then I did this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...00/final02.png Anyway, I posted a review of 'em on the 'ol blog (though I'm sure no one needs a review of this guy, by now). He's pretty cool, but the legs are a little funky, how they sorta plug into the pelvis. Are they all like this, or do more recent ones move a little more smoothly? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...eapons09-1.png I'd like to get some more, but I'm lookin' around to see what people think are the best ones so far. I'm really hoping for an Ultraman Cosmos sometime, since he was the first Ultraman I ever had (some articulated one wearing a spandex suit that you couldn't remove). |

Alexx,
Was your Cosmos figure the Corona mode that had a tiny plastic Baltan? I had that figure, too! I really need to get those Tamashii Flame Effects. Open Your Eyes, I really like EX Red King and considered getting it regardless. Check out reviews and see what you think. Gomora isn't cheap but he is a great figure. |

I have Max, he's pretty cool and last I checked fairly affordable. |

I went ahead and ordered the spark doll cause, well, $5 lol. But yeah, if my first experience with an Ultra-Act meets expectations as I think it will, I'll probably go ahead and shell out for Gomora since he's my top pick thanks to the Ultra Galaxy Movie that introduced Zero - and me to the Ultra Series. Cool movie and great introduction to the franchise. I'd love to have him and Zero on the shelf someday. Thanks again for the response, GLP. |
No problem. If you want to see Ultra-Act comparison pics for scale just let me know.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...aJammieJam.png He came with the same tiny Baltan, though, so I'm sure they're from the same line. I bought him years ago because I felt sorry for 'em - it was collecting dust on the shelves of the local import store for what felt like forever, and they had reduced his price so much that I just bought him out of curiosity. I loved 'em, honestly, and I still like the goofy thing, even if it can't hold a pose. Quote:

Has anyone seen a review for the Ultraman Dark and Ultra Seven Dark set?
I am considering buying the set but want to know more about it. Thanks |
YouTube toy reviewer "DiegoDoom" will have a review of the Dark Ultras set next week.
|
Cool,
Thanks |
Maaaan I can't believe they are reissuing Ultraman (renewal) again before Zoffy. I mean, it's good to keep him out there, but I was hoping Zoffy would take the April slot. Back to wondering if Tamashii will ever get to him.. :(
By the way, I made this last night and wanted to share. I used myfigurecollection.net and Baltan II's list as reference. I made it in paint, so it's not perfect. Every time I reopen it I have to use the erasure to clear the boxes before I can fill them.. lol. Aside from that it's cool. I included all of the unreleased "reference" figures because well.. I still want them! lol. Here's the blank: http://imgur.com/RzqVJvO and here's mine filled out: http://imgur.com/Xc6DiqU |
I guess demand for another reissue of the first Ultraman must be big for them to reissue it again. The original is no longer on Amazon and is sold out on NY. I already have him on my Christmas list, but I can wait if I don't get him this Holiday season.
|
Your layout is nice, but all those "Drafts" on a bunch of the portraits really hurts the appearance. There is already an Ultra-Act checklist in the style of the well-known Figuarts checklist (maybe that's what you meant?) but it obviously doesn't include the unreleased figures and I don't know if anyone bothers to keep it up-to-date.
|
It's funny because just like.. a week or so ago Amazon had ten Ultraman 2.0s in stock at $30 prime. Bummer. :( Good time for a reissue to be announced then.

Sorry, I definitely didn't have a hand in it! I do update the MonsterArts checklist regularly these days even though I didn't make that one originally, but I never did the same with the Ultra-Act one and this is the most recent I've seen anywhere. Maybe if I had spare time over the weekend I'd give it a shot, but it's always more of a nuisance to add extra lines.
|
Yeah that's the only one I know of. It's definitely better, but after I got a certain point working on mine in paint.. It was just like "this will work for right now" lol. If you do make an updated one that would be great! I just like having a visual list with a line like this- it feels like it's easier to keep track.
|
I had no idea there was a preexisting Ultra-Act list like the Figuart & Monsterart ones.
|
People love checklists! There's also a forgotten Super Robot Chogokin checklist, a ridiculous one for figma, a Super Action Statue one with way too many slight petty variations, and even Sci-Fi Revoltech briefly had one. A few were created by the same person, and as they grew in popularity fans of the other toylines grabbed the Figuarts template and used it for their respective lines. It's a neat little evolution.

Yeah, I love checklists. I used to do it when I collected various CCGs when I was a kid. I don't do it so much anymore.. well depending how you view MFC I do! lol. The two for SHF have made a comeback recently and I had fun filling that out. It's interesting to see how far not only checklists have come- but how the lines have evolved too.
My Imitation Ultraman (renewal) & Tiga (renewal) showed up today- wow! How did I hold off on this line for so long? I feel spoiled by the awesome accessories these guys have- it's hard to go back to SHF now lol. |
Finally got my Ultraman Dark and Ultraseven Dark! Both of them are awesome!

HI GUYS. NEED U TO SUPPORT MY ULTRA ACT COMIC. HERE IS THE LINK AND I HAVE UPDATED MANY PAGES SINCE THEE LAST TIME I POST IT HERE. SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH :) |
Hikari looks so great. I know him and 80 are on tap as exclusives, but I wish there was another retail Ultra-Act scheduled between now and spring, instead of just some re-releases.
In the meantime...finally opened up my new stuff! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psfxye37v2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psadwkeat3.jpg The Dark set is nice; it's not quite as loaded as the Zero two-pack, but it's still quite pleasing to get a web exclusive that doesn't feel lacking in display options. I prefer Seven Dark since the color scheme looks a bit more...consistent, I guess. Ultraman Dark has a (lot of) bright-ass red going on, and his dark silver head looks off compared to the red & black body, whereas Seven Dark at least has the dark silver on the shoulders that doesn't make it look as awkward. Coming with the Emerium beams for both Ultraseven & Ultraseven Dark is an added plus. King is ok...another web exclusive that doesn't include much. All he comes with is the cape (standard mantle design), extra shoulder mantle piece, King Hammer (it will take a lot for me to keep from referring to this as the Ultra Drum Stick) and the standard stage adapter & extra hands. You have to remove the standard mantle piece he comes with & swap it out with the wider one so you can plug in the cape (the standard piece covers the plug for the cape). He's bulky like Father with wider feet, so even with the cape he doesn't have much balance issues in standard poses. I do wish they'd at least included the King Flasher, at least, so he had at least one effect piece to use (wouldn't have minded the Baptism Ray too, though not sure how that would've worked). Agul V1 is...well, slightly different Agul, though to me he's more noticeably different than the difference between Gaia V1 vs V2. I mainly got it for the different explosion effects. Would've been nice if they'd thrown in another effect beyond the blade, but oh well. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...pshsr6qqie.jpg |
