"Not bad for an Ultra!" -Ultraman Kermit
I can't help but get an early Heisei vibe from this episode. Sure, it's nothing particularly character focused (at least for GUTS Select), but it was a very fun episode nonetheless. I love that they kept the detail of Ignis flying around on a Guebasser feather (You can see it when he appears on the Nursedessei), and it definitely appears he's going to be an interesting character... Another funny moment of Kengo's catchphrase, seriously, it's better when it's used in comedic situations then just saying it so it's a catchphrase. But I sincerely enjoyed seeing the GUTS Select crew take down Satandelos, always great to see the attack team defeat the monster. And of course, the action is top-notch, especially with Trigger's speed-fencing, and switching through his arsenal. Whenever I see the Nursedessei, I feel like it might become a giant mecha or something... Next Episode: Z-san and Haruki (and potentially Sevenger) are coming back!!! It's hilarious how they're still dealing with the Barossa Aliens. Really made an enemy for life. |
So when the Captain was talking about Trigger and all 3 of his forms getting beat we see a still image of Power Type being defeated which we never saw. I'm guessing deleted scene?

Solid episode. Glad to see the show improving.
Ignis is the most interesting character of the series, which I wasn't expecting. He has a strong motivation and the actor is great. I've really enjoyed his interactions with Kengo. Guts-Select could still use some characterization. They do a lot this episode, but we don't really get any character moments other than the Captain showing some admiration of Ignis. The Hudram fight was great, but it still feels like the Dark Giants are stalling for time. And did Hudram summon Satandelos? If so, why? Can't wait to see Z and Haruki return next week. I wonder if they'll explain why they're using Z Original instead of Alpha Edge. |
Way to set up the tension when Ultraman Trigger is already in the middle of a big battle and his timer is running out against a monster with "Satan" literally in its name, and then Kengo in vain trying to shoot at it when his transformation times out.
So Hudram wiped out Ignis' entire planet when he first awakened? Harsh. Ignis shows up at the Nurssdessei enough that he may as well join the team, but it seems like his grudge against Hudram will make him ally with the heroes more often than not, at least until he gets his own Ultra. So I guess Yuzare awakening more means she can protect Yuna or use more of her powers. Kengo getting triggered (heh) by Yuna being in danger and using Sky Type to outfence (and finally beat) Hudram before dealing a crippling blow to Satandelos was pretty epic. Also nice to see Nurssdessei get the final blow. Quote:

I liked the setup for this episode. A robot that is an unstoppable killing machine but only for an hour a day. I guess Hudram found it or modified it himself? Though it wouldn't be the first robot to randomly crash into Earth in Ultraman anyway.
Killing an entire civilisation is evil, killing an entire civilisation except for one guy is just being a dick. I still really like Ignis. The GUTS-Select team all doing their bit to help was cool. It's always good seeing the Defense team take out the monster of the week. Even if Trigger and Ignis helped a bit. Oh snap, Z and Haruki (and Barossa) next week! |
Ignis is definitely the strongest character to me so far, though the guy really feels like he's speedrunning the whole "rival-who's-totally-a-softie-and-becomes-an-ally" arc :lol

Mine's still Tatsumi and Akito. Tatsumi cuz I like captain characters in general, and this guy's giving me that 'cool' vibe from him and he's fun to watch make shouts and what not. I like Akito's characterization so far, it's funny to see him cope about not being Trigger, and I hope he gets a Sparklence because I definitely feel it's gonna be glorious when he does. |
I don't know if this is where I should post it, but I'm posting it here anyway. I'm watching Ultra Q Dark Fantasy, I'm 3 episodes in and I'm wondering how is this an Ultraman show? First of all there's no Ultraman and it looks more like a Twilight Zone-esque show. I mean the second episode was creepy.
