IM WATCHING GOSEIGER!
There is said it. Im actually enjoying it a lot more than i though i would. Im on epic 11 now and Im really getting into the characters. I would rather still have gokiger as power rangers super megaforce though, so far..... |
The wife and I finished Akibaranger last night. That was one heck of a twist the last couple of episodes. One of the better Toku shows I've seen. It's also the first Sentai I've completed (even if it's technically "unofficial"). Really hope the rumors about Season 2 are true. I loved every minute of it. Now to track down a MMZ-01 that won't cause my wallet to have an aneurysm.

I'm watching megaranger now, and having a lot of fun with. There's not a single main or supporting character I don't like. I do have to laugh at the fact that Koichiro(MegaBlack) seems to live in his school uniform in the early episodes, always wearing it no matter the time or day it is.

PS Just wait until episode 38 Switchblade. That will make or break your opinion on Mei. If you want an idea of what it is: remember that Abaranger episode of Gokaiger, the one with the cosplaying? Yeah, that was tribute to this episode. |

Continuing my megaranger marathon and all I have to say is this...
Truly a WTF moment. |
I think I'll start watching Dairanger sometime this weekend.

Well, I watched the first episode of Dairanger. It looks pretty interesting. It has a very Chinese philosophy like theme to it, and that has me pretty intrigued. Of course, I also noticed a lot of similarities to DragonBall Z (aura, ki). Also, I think those three commanders are into some kinky stuff from their outfits.
All in all, I like it so far. I'll definitely watch all of it. |
I'm at episode 40 of Abaranger. Well, Lijewel certainly turned out to be a bitch. Whatever happened to that sweet child? And Mahoro with a gambit to save Asuka from the cursed armor. At least Asuka's back.
|
So is OhRanger the only series of the 90s that has not had at least the first few episodes subbed?
Obviously DaiRanger and Jetman are the only ones that have been completed, but I do not recall if anyone ever attempted OhRanger. Quote:

I finished Dairanger toda-err, last night. God dammit, why did they make the ending so ambiguous?
|
Finally tracked down subs of Goseiger Returns. Damn it was good to see them back in action, even though it was apparent there was a totally different staff involved. It didn't have nearly the same feeling that the series did but it was really enjoyable. King BB was a great one off villain and destroying him wrapped the series up pretty well (pre-Legend War that is). Also it wasn't nearly as much of a train wreck as Shinkenger Returns was :lol

Watching DekaRanger as Overtime releases it, while still going through Gokaiger. Love the goofiness of the show's style at times(that bizarro wedding in the first episode, the band playing over the credits). Don't like DekaRed yet. He seems like a chode. I'm sure he'll mature eventually though.

Just finished Epic 40 of Goseiger. Its an Alata episode and not much happened in that episode. This far into Goseiger and I still don't think much of Alata. The other four I'm fine with so with Gosei Knight but Alata...I guess I like my reds to be a bit more forceful in character. |

TO be honest, the only ending I have ever been completely satisfied with has been the one to CarRanger. Quote:

BTW, Shocker, that is a typo. It was supposed to say the Japanese do not know how to write an ending for ****. Look at things like Utena, Wolf's Rain, Gilgamesh, Big O, Evangelion, RahXephon, Kamen Rider Ryuki, the endings make no sense and just cop out rebooting the universe instead of actually coming up with a conclusion. Other series just tend to leave the ending open ended with no resolution, no true conclusion, etc. DaiRanger, DekaRanger, the first Fullmetal Alchemist series, Dragonball Z and Trinity Blood are examples of this. Other times they seem to not know how to do a final battle with the main villain and just do it in a half assed way. Many Toku shows do this. Kamen Rider Black, Goseiger, AbaRanger, and many Ultraman shows do this. I can honestly count the number of Japanese series that had fully satisfying conclusions on my fingers and maybe a toe, but I don't believe I need to go beyond my fingers. In fact, let me count: CarRanger Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Code Geass Cowboy Bebop Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Boogiepop Phantom Death Note Oban Star Racers Golion Macross Gankutsuou Speed Grapher Okay, so there are 12 series I can think of, so I would need my toes. I stand somewhat corrected. |

I did not know they were subbing ZyuRanger. I have been preoccupied with downloading their Maskman and Bioman subs and hoping one day they will do a batch of the DVD versions of Liveman they have subbed as I think I only have up to episode 9.
Let's see, HaroRangers is doing CarRanger and Hurricanger, but I expect Nihon will finish TimeRanger, ZyuRanger, and MegaRanger long before Haro even gets to the halfway point of either series. I don't even know what happened with Gingaman, as I have up to I think 17 and then they just disappeared. And the guys who did the first 3 episodes to KakuRanger and like 5 episodes of GoGoV have such an unfriendly site that makes it impossible for me to download anything from them without having to click through 10 ad sites makes them not even worth it to me. |

Evangelion had an ending, Kain. And a damn good one. I've only seen a handful of Sentai and Kamen Rider shows, so I'm adding Power Rangers to my list of what has had a decent ending.
Kamen Rider Fourze: Very good ending to this. It was emotional, it closed all the plotlines through the series, and it was beautifully written. Despite Libra going down like a punk. Power Rangers Mystic Force: The finale was so good that when she closed the book, and it said The End, the entire franchise could've closed there and I'd been very satisfied. More PR shows need to end as well as this one did. Yea, that's all I have. Decade didn't have an ending, Goseiger could've done a little better, and Power Rangers has been hit and miss. |
You could sit through the pretentious garbage that was Evangelion? Huh. I just assumed it ended with Eva or Eve or whatever it was staring down an enemy for 30 straight minutes while Shinji cried in a corner in an attempt to be avant garde.
Anyway, Kain point was about Japanese series, so Mystic Force and PR in general don't count. And Fourze's ending wasn't very strong. Gamou was redeemed because Fourze wanted to be friends with him, despite hospitalizing and ruining various students' lives and murdering others? Kengo's magic return, and everything being hunky dory a-ok. It just seemed to squeaky clean, and considering it had tons of great story arcs that weren't just silly fun, it seemed out of place for a resolution and ending. |

And there was more to Fourze than that. Alot more. What you did, on both counts, was simplify the series down to fit your point. |
I didn't mind Fourze having a happy ending, but it definitely was a flawed conclusion.

I'd rather herald Decade as a shining work of art before I finish that crap. If I hated everything I was looking at in Evangelion, why should I have finished it? I wanted to watch Shinji get his face kicked in. I wanted to watch Asuka get skewered and burned alive (Though her death scene? Beautiful. That needed to happen to everyone. One of the OVAs should've just been watching Asuka die for an hour), I loathed Shinji's father, and I can't remember if I hated Rei or if I was just indifferent to her. And I didn't simplify Fourze's ending. What, did you expect me to give a play-by-play of the fight? Gamou was redeemed for his despicable actions on the sole basis that Gen wanted to be his friend in the end. It was Fourze's sparing of him that caused him to rethink his actions. |

And to stay slightly on topic, I'm up to the mid-30s on Zyuranger. In the last episode everyone was randomly a ninja. This show is still weird. |
