After rewatching "Chill of the Night!" I now believe that it was the best representation of Batman in animation, if not the best representation we have gotten. The rest of Batman: The Brave and the Bold didn't really meet that standard again, but that one episode did better than even some comics represented Batman.

I really enjoyed that episode of Brave and the Bold. It gave me an interest in the Spectre character, and it was written well.
Brave and the Bold was a great Batman series, but that episode was awesome. |

I really love that show, and my only complaint concerning it was that it advertised that it wanted to use the lesser known characters/less popular versions of popular characters, then proceeded to constantly re-use Aquaman (I loved the big ham, but he even took up half of Ryan Choi/The Atom's debut episode) and Green Arrow. |
Brave and the Bold was a brilliant series. It was so refreshing to see a series embrace that side of Batman again.

Yes, he's a tragic character. Yes, a lot of his villains are also tragic. Yes, the series is supposed to be dark. But unless you can show some level of joy in the lives of the characters, even if it's just a villian getting sick kicks out of being evil (like the Joker), the story just gets dull. If I want Batman to be all no-nonsense gruff and serious, but still want fun, I put him next to heroes that show off the vast pallet of emotions. Which is why BatB team ups with Aquaman were so fun. Aquaman is a lovable ham. |

I do hope we get another series like The Brave and the Bold some time in the future. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Batman show, but something lighthearted and fun but with some very serious episodes thrown into the mix. I say this mainly because I don't want my kids to grow up with cartoons of the same quality as what Cartoon Network airs today and advertises most often.

I would suggest one starring Wally West/The Flash, but then I realized he's not a character anymore as of the New 52...
|
We need a Brave & the Bold style series built around Silver-Age Superman; a collection of heroic antics starring a complete and utter dick.

He tends to be the antagonist every time he shows up. |

I will echo the statements that Teen Titans Go! wasn't what we were expecting, but both DC and Marvel have lost sight on what most people want over the decades. |
You know, while I was watching The Flashpoint Paradox, I began to think... what makes it a paradox? Then I got distracted and began thinking about an Aquaman movie. Here's what I would want in an Aquaman movie:
*A dark story with mature themes, ideas, and executions of said ideas. *Black Manta as the villain. *An origin story. *A happy-go-lucky, bombastic Aquaman similar to the one from Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Just because. |

So I just got done watching XIaolin Chronicles the first episode anyway. I don't mind the new voices they got for Clay, Kimiko, and Raimundo they look a little older in this new animation so giving them different voices works, hell I don't even mind the CGI showdowns even though I do think it's stupid and will get confusing the fact that they switch animation styles. I dig the new characters, even if I do find it annoying how they just reused Omi's character model for Ping Pong.
But as someone who grew up watching and loving the hell out of Xiaolin Showdown(Seriously, it's one of my favrioute shows from childhood) two things stick out to me that really REALLY bug me… That's the fact that they changed the Shen Gong Wu names and the fact that Dojo is now yellow. |
I think it's because the Shengonwu names are copyrighted by Warnerbros.

Just watched the first episode of Xiaolin Chronicles...
It's not a straight up reboot but it's not a continuation of the original series either which is kind of weird. It's like this is an alternate reality where there's the same familiar characters and plot but some of the smaller details have changed. It might be interesting to see if they'll introduce old characters and follow the plot of the original or try and do it's own thing. It's difficult listening to the new cast because I can still perfectly hear the unique voices of the original in my head all these years later. The old cast seemed to imbue a lot more personality into the characters. It's still early yet, so hopefully that changes. Also: Ping Pong is really annoying and needs to go away. Now. |
Just watched the first episode as well. It's been quite some time since I watched any, and I must say it felt quite familiar. That's a pretty good thing to me.
Until it got to the showdown itself... The CGI is really weird. As is yellow Dojo but not nearly as much. |
Anyone else notice that Commander Shepherd voices Willow? I kinda lost it for a second when I heard her voice.
She apparently voices Kimiko too but it's not as apparent. |
I think the CGI segment of the show kind of helps you tell the difference between the real world and the arena for the showdown. Not that original didn't tell the difference, just it kind of mixes it up.

I found some episodes of Lilo and stitch online, after seeing what happens to these two in the anima i'm now freaking depressed.
So i'm pretending to ignore that anime existed... And it's not working. http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lj...4debo1_500.gif Also i want to see more networks have multiple crossovers with they're shows. |
So is episode 6 the last episode of Beware to come out? I've not seen anyone talking about the show so I didn't even realise another episode had come out after the Humpty Dumpty one.
Anyway, Toxic. Although Mephisto was cool and Sapphire got a damn fine look, the episode was plagued by the same awkward animation and poor voice acting that the rest of the series has had. Also, why would the guards shoot when they can see he is holding Stagg's daughter? |

I do like Beware the Batman, and the animation is growing on me, but I do miss Batman: The Brave and the Bold. What other series can have Batman say, "Can't talk now—skiing ninjas with lasers," and still have it sound awesome? I miss you, Diedrich Bader. Also, I've been watching some of the DC Nation shorts. They're actually decent, given Cartoon Network's current track record. Batmongoose is amazing. |
Metamorpho even, it was first thing in the morning.
|
Legend of Korra out in two weeks. I am pretty excited. The show seems to be taking a newer direction with more fantasy elements than political ones this upcoming season.
