Sadly JUICY! |
I'm so glad I can watch the English Dubbed episodes of Fairy Tail again of FUNimation Platinum On Demand :3.
|
Anyone ever sub Zoids? I find bits and pieces of the show, along with a lot of dead sites, but nothing to suggest a full series subbing. I mean I'm practically tripping over dubbed releases, as with a lot of anime, I grew up with it dubbed but I'm going to assume the dub is a butchering and of poor quality as so many of my childhood dubs turned out to be. I'm hoping you'll tell me it isn't so I can grab the dub and enjoy the show.

And the dubs were commissioned by Hasbro. It's about the same quality of the Transformers anime dubs, which are terrible. The Zoid dubs do have some charm to them. Mostly New Century Zero since it's already very lighthearted. |

Catching up with Symphogear G.
Damn, this show got A LOT better in the second season. |
I watched Sword art online last night. I f*cking loved that! It's pretty much my favorite topic in my top 4 for fiction stories extended into a full show.
|
Lol. I also watched the debut of the dub. My only problem so far is Kirito sounds much too old to me. But it's still the same great show otherwise.
|
I'm watching the "New" episode of Yugioh Zexal on Nick, when Yuma's sister showed up on a motorcycle i just yelled out. "When did this woman become so cool!?"
|
So I'm playing catch up on Shingeki, as I watch the show monthly as it is THE SLOWEST PACED THING IN EXISTENCE.
Seriously episode 13 was basically just a reaction face to the episode before it, like basically every episode has been since maybe the first two. The saddest thing is, I think the anime thinks itself really intelligent, like an elaborate game of chess but this even makes Naruto look complex and deeply though out in comparison. I mean it isn't all bad, I still love how this show goes all out into the horrors of war in a way a western cartoon just never could, I'm assuming if this ever gets dubbed it's going straight to DVD as there is no way you could get this onto TV without cutting out like 90% of the content. When the show actually fucking moves, the animation is stunning and the fight scenes are awesome, it's so basic but three dimensional movement is just a joy to watch with the shows sense of speed and energy. And hey at least Eren finally... http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lq...89lwo1_500.gif let's see what 14 - 16 bring! |

However from there on, it will be a fun ride. |

If the show wasn't so damn dark or the action so well animated, I'd assume this a parody of anime. Then again a lot of modern anime seems to no longer remember that the criticisms of anime weren't a mandatory inclusion and you could just not make the same mistakes again... |
So Shingeki 14, it's weird when you move between sub groups because it's amazing how drastically different you can word a translation with it still meaning the same thing, characters in Commie's subs almost seem different to those in GG's because of the kind of words they pick to express the translation.
Anyway, fourteen was a fantastic episode, even if not a lot happened as it was just so dramatic and epic, Eren's speech and Levi's actions gave me chills. Levi is so so awesome, so I'm assuming he'll be dead soon. |
Shingeki Fifteen, I'm assuming the Titan's looking like humans is on purpose but I kinda wish they had less human qualities because the kind of detail the show goes into their psychology makes them seem a lot more interesting than they actually are.
Also the Recon Corps are fucking nutters, the lot of them, I love them. |
I'm watching Attack on Titan now, about to check out Gatchaman Crowds

I do agree that it's kinda over the place right now, and the other characters haven't been used much if at all. But I'm hoping the series keeps improving, and so far I've liked it. |
We watched the second volume of Tiger & Bunny today, finishing the series, and overall, this series was incredible. The only major complaints I have with it are how rushed the final episode felt and the lack of development for Rock Bison. Aside from that, I have nothing but praises for the show because its story was well told, the characters were all likable and outside of Rock Bison, they all had some really great development (especially Blue Rose and Origami), the music fit the mood, and it did not go into the standard cliches it could have done that you find in anime and super hero stories. Not to mention the entire series was quite enjoyable from start to finish. Lunatic remains my favorite character in the show (too bad he did not get more screen time), but I have to say that my favorite between the main eight is a tie between Barnaby and Blue Rose, with surprisingly Sky High in third. Although, for the other characters, Saito just down right rocks!! This show gets a solid 9/10 from me and is one of the best series to come out of Japan in a long time and is probably in my top 10 favorite anime series. I cannot wait for the movies to come out, especially the one that hits Japan next year.

Seeing people talking about Gatchaman Crowds in here peaked my interest so I checked out the first episode, this is some damn ugly animation with bad character designs and just a general cheap feel. I really wasn't a big fan of the suits, and the CGI, either.
You see that is kinda the thing with animation for me now, as Toku has the ability to do more and more epic stuff and as Blockbusters come closer and closer to realising what could have only once been done in animation, shows like this have to try way harder to impress me. If this was live action, I'd probably like it a lot more, but this was really just your generic toku episode with no sense of any limitations removed by the medium that could provide more freedom. That brown haired chick as well just made me want to punch her in the face through the whole thing, I think that is the point, but that didn't make it any more pleasurable to watch. Then again, the whole team was incredibly forced - gay bloke! stuck up teen! smoking badass! loli-con perpetually in her underwear! chibi with a complex! I think I see what they were trying to do but it just made everyone unlikeable. I'll give it one more episode since one person has said the opening episode was weak, the other said it was the best of the lot. I'll see which category I fall into once I've seen episode two. |
Watched Crowds 2, and yeah, no. I'd rather tear my fingernails off and gouge my eyes out with them than sit through another minute with Hajime. She is quite possibly the worst character of all time. We're done, Crowds.

Also, peaked by this thread, was YuGiOhs new show ZeXal, trying to find subs of this was a bitch and in the end the best I could find that was actually seeded looked horribly upscaled but oh well from the looks of the animation I'm not missing much.
The D-Gazer is a cool idea and a bad idea in the same breath, as it both makes the matches more thrilling and yet much more generic. Still that doesn't stop the YuGiOh overly dramatic duels from being any less stupid and ridiculous. Really though what let the duel down, at least in this opening episode, is the way they had to keep shouting the basic rules of duelling at one another. Mass market, more money etc but come on guys, how many people are there really left on the planet who are watching this and don't know at least the very basics of how this works? I'll give it a few more episodes though, as it'd clear these episodes are just establishing everything for those two people in the audience who don't know what YuGiOh is and see what the actual plot turns out to be. |

If you don't like the Numbers, you may just want to give up on it now...
|
I know numbers are the whole plot as they are pretty boys memories but I was hoping there was more to it than that.

One day Locke, one day you'll find a good modern anime other than Shingeki (and even that is paced like shit). |
Have you watched Gankutsuou, Ghost in the Shell SAC, Cowboy Bebop, Tiger & Bunny, FMA: Brotherhood, Speed Grapher, RahXephon, My-Hime, Psycho Pass, or The Virtuous World of Gargantia?
I haven't seen every the whole thing to the last two yet, but the others I have seen in whole and highly enjoy them (some are some of the best anime series ever). Or if you want to check out an excellent movie, watch Redline or the 3 episode OVA series The Portrait of Petite Cossette. |
I also recommend Tiger and Bunny, it's not perfect but it's pretty good and reminiscent of Toku shows in various aspects.
Plus Lunatic is awesome. the guy gets as much character development as the main cast in basically one episode. |
I've seen all of them to varying degrees of completion (well the ones I liked) I should probably finish them off proper at some point.
|
After hearing a lot about how Pacific Rim took some inspiration from it, I decided to finally watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've watched the first 5 episodes and I'm HOOKED. I really like the show so far.
|
I'm still watching Gundam Wing.
|
The english dub of Yu-gi-oh Zexal starts tomorrow on Cartoon Network UK 6.30PM. Of course I am busy the next two nights so I'll miss the first two episodes.
I have heard that the anime differs from the manga but how much does it differ? |
