The fight scenes are great from start to finish, some of the best in all of Rider - only beaten by Decade in my books - and are simultaneously the main reason to watch the series and the only thing other than Haruto that stops Wizard from being all round garbage. Sadly Wizard's powers just aren't ever particularly interesting or ever really all that well explained either. I guess that is what happens when you start the plot as late as this show does. Haruto is a great character though. Quote:

Agito Episode 8
I can't believe I never questioned this before now. What exactly are those drawings suppose to be in the OP video? Like why exactly are they there? I love Taichi so much. I just love how he's acting like an adult and parent there. Especially with the "He's at the age" line. Just priceless in my opinion. Man Shouchi really did get the crap beaten out of him. He's limping, he's clutching at his arm. Just how much damage did that Unknown dish out? Oh yeah it threw him around like a rag doll...well uh, try harder next time Shouchi! More then they already are? I know I've said it a lot before, and I'll continue to say it probably throughout my watching of Agito (however long that may be). I really, really love how we have a police force that has gotten caught up in a series of mysterious murders and approaches them like a regular old case. It's just so great to see the police acting logically and respond to the situation like it was nothing. They don't say that the supernatural element is hogwash and drop it, and they don't get overly into it where they start doing your typical cliched stuff. They're fighting an enemy that they know nothing about and are approaching the situation as if it was a normal case. I just plain love that aspect. Heck I even love the rivalry between Houjou and Hikawa as it seems very natural. Just love everything about this aspect of the show. Shouchi you fucking dumb ass :lolol Schooled by a teenager Hikawa :lol Am I watching a Three Stooges episode? Except without the third Stooge? Mana you are one strange girl. I really want to know what these powers of hers are about and where they came from. And why she has them. Because all of these flashback scenes are getting weird. Especially since she's seeing more than what was shown originally of what Shouchi saw. If she got the images from him, then how is it that she can see more? Did that thing just grin? How exactly did Shouchi learn how to make a bed anyways? Did he find a book about it? Did he study the remains of Mana's old bed and is just winging it from that? Or does he just magically know how to do stuff ala Tendou? These two...they work very well together in comedic scenes. He's like a puppy dog Mana...a fairly odd puppy dog. That was actually a pretty cool effect they did there when Agito ran into the Unknown. I mean it's really noticeable, no doubt about it. But it wasn't the worst effect I've ever seen. It's just dated. Nonetheless though it was cool that they did it. This does not sit well with our lady friend I take it? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. So he presses the (from his perspective) left button to activate Storm Form, and the right button to activate Flame Form. Well I suppose that does explain the buttons on the side of the belt. Speaking of forms, Flame Form looks, okay I suppose. I like the red they used as it really pops against the black suit. And the gold used around it pops a little bit as well. I also enjoy how the shoulder pad has that edge pointing up. But that's sorta where my praise ends. I didn't mention it with Storm Form but I really don't like how with these two forms, only one side gets the upgrade. Why can't they both change to fully be a new form? They could still combine like they do for Trinity form if each form wasn't split. And how comes the gold on his legs don't change to match the new form? Also I really don't like the sword. It just doesn't look that great to me. Out of the three we have for the moment, Storm Form is my favorite as it had a really nice color to it and a kick ass weapon as well. I like Flame's shoulder pad more and I do think the red and gold really work well together. But as a complete package of color, armament, and weapon, it doesn't really work for me. Oh come on! I wanted to see an up close shot of the Unknown becoming two separate pieces. Not one form fall away! I know it's meant for kids but come on! I wanted a good shot of the thing getting sliced into two halves! Yes show, please explain exactly what the hell this kid is. Because until I get an explanation I am going to still be convinced that he is in fact the Antichrist. Pretty sure it's a guy now BTW. Well that was eight. How did it fair? Spoiler alert: better then seven. The story aspect was here and in my opinion shined through a bit more. The story to me at least being about Shouchi and Mana and how Mana had to come to forgive Shouchi for something he may or may not have done, and Shouchi learning how to defeat the Unknown. Both tied into each other a little bit, but the Shouchi/Mana one was the obvious plot point of the episode. Nothing in my opinion however got added to the main story except for the introduction of a new form. Other then that, nothing really came up that to me at least effect how things will play out over the run of the series. Character development was there, but only in the sense of how people interacted. This to me meaning that only Mana got development, as she had to develop into believing that Shouchi wouldn't kill somebody and thus forgive him. So basically, the same as the story. Nothing else into terms of character development though. Agito though did deliver some nice action though. So that's a major plus in my book since the action is usually BORING AS FUCK. It had a nice back and forth style which showed off the advantages of both fighters. Shouchi has the power advantage, and the Unknown had the advantage of being able to fly. It also did well to introduce the new form in the typical style of having Shouchi pwn the enemy upon entering that form. But since the opponent was flying around, I guess it's natural that I wouldn't get to see some back and forth fighting with the sword. Regardless though, I actually thought the action was good and found myself liking it. It's a miracle! So once again we have a pretty decent episode. It was entertaining and did fairly well in the main aspects, with the story/character development being the best in my opinion. Decent episode but I'm seeing that this series is like 555 in more ways then the subject material: I'm in another mixed bag series where episodes flip flop between good to great, terrible, boring, and average. |
Decade 13.
Yusuke is so frustrating, because he's probably one of the best characters in all of Kamen Rider. As a person at least. He's this really lovely, mature, smart dude who has the perfect attitude for a hero. He is just insanely likeable. Yet when it comes to him as a Rider he sucks...he really really fucking sucks. Like actually worse than Godai sucks. He has one of the most powerful, and versatile power sets in all of Kamen Rider and this episode is the first time he's fought in about ten episodes. That is a third of the series. And although yes, he does fight again, does he use his actual powers? NOPE. Does he achieve anything? NOPE. Like I really want to enjoy him, especially with the way he makes Tsukasa grow as a person but it's hard to enjoy a Rider who literally does nothing relating to the fighting. Sure he may help every episode in some way or another, but all of his actions pale beneath the fact that he has fucking super powers, a friend constantly battling monsters...and he only ever gives him motivational speeches. If I was Tsukasa I'd be like 'Fuck dude! Transform and fucking help me!' Coming a close second for worst Rider in this show is Shouichi. Basically the one twist for Agito's world is there are three Riders in it...and they're all the same person. Not only that, but G3-X is the only one that has any real context, both the Gills and Agito powers that Shouichi gains are never explained and come out of nowhere. Not to mention the fact that the most interesting powers out of the three both become former powers for the least interesting. Well that sucked, I hope Den-O is better. |

It makes more sense once you know the full backstory of Agito and the kid in black. Quote:

Yeah just watched my first episode of Wizard and I'm not liking it as much as I did the other three Rider series I've watched so far, and I'm just talking about the beginning episodes.
Maybe it's just me but the introduction to Wizard felt like they were trying to impress us too much, with him summoning a bike right away and just mopping the floor with the first wave of baddies like they were nothing, just sets it up for a character that doesn't seem to have much conflict and it loses my interest early on, though maybe it gets better later on. Since Gaim isn't finished quite yet and I can't have a fully thought out choice, I think OOO is my favorite out of the ones I've seen if only because I love the suit designs and how each combo form has it's own presence and personality, with unique names and much to my surprise and joy their own theme music, I love that in a series. And since Wizard is kinda up in the air as far as watching it all the way through, anyone have a recommended series for me? :D |
It's that time again...want to watch another KR, but not sure where to go next, lol...thus far I've finished: W, Agito, Kabuto, and my latest OOO. I am currently watching Gaim as well as the eps go by week by week. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Blade. Just Blade. Perfect balance of Rider drama, villains, badass fights, epic music, and an amazing story with a rotating cast of villains to keep it interesting yet flows naturally. I'd also recommend Faiz and Ryuki to a lesser extent, as they are both from that same era but I know a lot of people get annoyed by those two. I'd recommend Faiz for the really good characters and Ryuki just for its amazing arcs. |
Super-1 Episode 26: This was a heavily not subbed episode though I could guess what they were saying without the subs. The clock monster was pretty nifty, and the Junior Rider Squad still proving that they are really useful even if they get captured they inform Super-1 where the base is. Professor Ghost of the new Jin Dogma generals seems really intriguing. The others were laughing at him for some reason but he seems like he wants to prove himself to the leader.
The action was really good and it was different seeing the battle being done in a closed space rather than being outside. Also Super-1 wall jumping was pretty badass too. His finisher this episode was really excessive a lot of kicks to the head but it definitely worked. I hope the next episodes have more subtitles to them. |

Quick question about Decade. Would it be a good idea to watch more Heisei rider before seeing Decade so i could get a grip on what they wanted to change in the alternate worlds, or just jump in as of now as it doesn't matter. |
Quote:
If you've never seen a lot of Heisei...or just didn't like it, then Decade is a lot of fun if you take it from what it is. And because in its very nature its all AUs you could watch this, see what Riders you like and explore their respective shows to see which version of the story you like best. Every world in Decade has an interesting spin. Quote:

Well, considering I like Ryuki, Faiz and Blade and you really don't like those but like the worlds (except Faiz)..... I'll maybe pass. I'm not trying to throw you under the bus here, but usually when people like an alternate world more then the original, I take that as code for they're different as they don't embody the traits said people dislike (which I like). |

Super-1 Episode 27: Child X causing the children to cause Chaos, yeah this masked man is totally a Jin Dogma monster lol. Well the subs worked throughout most of this episode so that was really good. I love the new generals they all seem to think they can beat Super-1 and laugh at everyone else so there is definitely a bigger threat now with Jin Dogma compared to Dogma. The Junior Rider Squad helped thwart the bad guys again, they're getting pretty good at this. Super-1 defeated Jin Dogma henchmen guys with a Bulldozer and then pushed back against a bulldozer with his Power Hands. Man, Super-1 is something else and totally badass.

Kabuto Episode 10
That was a Gai like reaction right there :lol So I'm curious to know what the civilians will think when time returns to normal and they see a smashed car and a lot of glass falling down on them. I know Tendou was trying to avoid hitting them, but riding your bike along the glass side of a building is probably a bad idea. And by bad idea I mean a REALLY bad idea. Hot damn Kagami just went total fucking bad ass on those Worms. "Heaven sure is whimsical." :lol You know I would normally question how Yaguruma knows where Tendou lives. However considering he's a part of a very high up military company which works for a really high up company, I don't think it's too out there to think that he was able to just look up Tendou's address. So no questioning of this little moment. I will however question how they got into the bistro. It looks like they are the only two people in there, so I doubt somebody let them in. So how exactly did they get in? Did they pick the lock or something? Shouldn't she have said help me? First, what. Secondly, the fuck? Do all of the riders get a tattoo of their respective symbol? If so then do they just disappear when that person is disconnected from the Zector such as Yaguruma? So is Kagami tapping the fish to tell which one is the best? I uh don't really get that. Not one single bit. Let me guess, the head of Zect is Kagami's dad? Look Hiyori I can see why you're so gloomy and doomy. You were trapped in the rubble of your house and when somebody showed up to help you, they (from what we have been shown) didn't. I can see how that could make a person depressed and effect their artwork. You obviously have a fascination with drawing people being saved. However you've let it effect everything about you for the most part to where you're willing to not even forgive somebody who may or may not have had the belt (it obviously wasn't Kagami and for all I know it may not be Tendou). Honestly this whole gloomy, I don't need anybody, fuck the world attitude of yours is what makes you my least favorite character in the show. Kagami I think back in your mind you should have known this was coming. Outside of leading Shadow to defeat Worms, the whole purpose of TheBee was to defeat Kabuto. Yaguruma didn't do it so it should naturally come to you that whoever becomes the new TheBee would take over that mission, in this case you. So yeah, I don't think this should come as a big surprise to you. To be fair, Kagami probably would be fired by now. But it is pretty funny how Tendou just keeps saying it over and over again. It's almost like he wants him fired. "I want my mackerel dammit!" Tendou doesn't like the word friends? Please tell me he meets Gentaro at some point because I would love to see how they would interact :lol Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...maybe they should have given Kagami a briefing on how to lead a squad of soldiers. He obviously doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to that department. I mean kudos to him for giving Kageyama the command to take charge while he takes care of the Worm that molted. But still, he should really be taught how to lead his troops into battle. Somethings tells me (I'd say hope) that they use this whole Tendou having to clean up Kagami's mess as a way to develop him. Obviously by him I mean Kagami. Okay the effect with their suits in the fire as they talk in their civilian forms is just plain awesome looking. Well that was a short run as TheBee. Oh well. Next in line please! Called it. Time for a new rider. And I don't mean a new TheBee. No I mean a new rider as a whole. Time for guitar case guy! Well ten have come and 10 have gone. The tenth episode's analysis shall begin...now. In terms of story, it was great. Well to me at least. Like the episode before it this one pulled out all the good stuff for it's story. It clearly was there and it's execution was great. It showed Kagami's struggle in deciding what to do when it came to being the new TheBee. It all played out very well and IMO progressed in a fairly natural state. He went from being happy that he has this immense power, to being saddened that he has to use it to fight his friend, to being in the middle emotions wise at not having to do what he was asked and not being able to be TheBee. It helped move the story along very well, but also his character. As for adding anything to the main story, pretty much all of the story added to the main plot with everything involving Kagami, the slight inch forward in the Hiyori/Tendou relationship story, to Kagami's dad being in Zect, and teasing the new rider. So overall I thought the story here was just plain superb and dare I say perfect. This leaked into the character development portions, again, just like the previous episode. All of the development (like the focus of the story) went right to Kagami. I pretty much explained his development in my analysis of the story, so I don't think I need to repeat it all here. I will however repeat that it was done perfectly to me. Outside of Kagami though nobody really got any development in terms of individual characters. The Tendou/Hiyori relationship was slightly developed, and obviously the Tendou/Kagami relationship got some development. But that's pretty much it. The episode didn't have a whole lot of people or relationships being developed, but the amount and execution of what was given to Kagami more then makes up for it. And the action caps everything off. For the third time in this analysis I will say the following: just like the last episode, this one delivered in the action department. It showcased how energetic, yet inexperienced Kagami is when it comes. It also showcased well how the squad without any real direction isn't able to hold it's own fairly well. Just all in all flawless action to me. I think it goes without saying what my final verdict is on the episode. This is the first time I think I'm ever going to say this, but we have had back to back perfect episodes here with 9 and 10 folks. But this is just my opinion. You don't have to agree with it, just try to respect it. I love the episode, I deem it perfect, keep it up Kabuto, you're impressing the shit out of me. |
Agito Episode 9
That is a very good question Ryou. I don't know when it'll receive an answer however. But it is indeed a very good question that I believe we are all curious about. You know amnesia doesn't really account for slowness. Seriously Shouichi how did you not realize immediately that it was for you? The professor already has a job, Mana's a teenager, and Taiichi isn't even old enough to have a job. How could you not put two and two together? Look you're a nice guy, a really nice guy. But dude get your shit together and start thinking. Out of every Rider show I have seen, you're fast becoming my least favorite main rider in both suit and character. How can you be so dumb? There isn't anything wrong with a character being slow or not all that bright (Shinji says hi). But dude you're really slow. Please start using your brain. Well hot damn Houjou. You went through that training exercise like it was nothing but a G thang. I may like Hikawa better as a character, but I'd say going off of just the training session, you're the better fighter of those who have been G3. I hope you do well in battle! Mana you're not alone, I don't really get it either...persay. I think the gist of what he's saying is that he wants to wake up everyday and have it be something completely new. But still the way he worded it and saying he wants it to be like amnesia is just, weird and confusing. She's the Unknown of the episode isn't she? Wasn't he investigating criminals anyways? I mean now they'll be human criminals and not monsters, but the monsters committed crimes. That makes them criminals. And he investigated them. So doesn't that pretty much mean he was in criminal investigation before, and he's been re-assigned to the same job, except without the monsters? I have a headache. They're going to end up being a couple aren't they? Yeah...they're going to end up being together. Why else would she make being cute so important? Actually she could just be a superficial bitch who only judges people by their appearance regardless of their skills. You know let's just leave it alone for now. The issues obviously being that they don't want to eat bugs. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KS4hvAI8Bk...0/itsatrap.jpg Who wouldn't want to go to a ramen stand? Ramen is the shit! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh shit. I see the plan as clear as day. Somebody wants to set up Shouchi. Now you have my interest show. You have it by the balls. WATER! :lolol This Unknown is so fucking bad looking that it's good looking. That head, just :lolol I'm just going to assume that they went to the professor's house first to get an idea of where Shouchi was going. Because if they didn't that means I'd give myself a slight headache thinking of how they knew where he was. D'awwwwwww yeah, Bad ass song plus bad ass suit means it's time for a bad ass fight scene. Give me all you got Agito! Give me all you got! That was...epic. Well that was episode nine. And I do believe like episode 4, it has grabbed my interest very well right when I was ready to drop the show. Will 10 keep my interest? I don't know yet. But anywho onto episode 9's analysis. The story was here and it wasn't that bad. Nothing really spectacular, but it wasn't terrible. The whole story revolving around Shouchi in an important way was nice to see and while it was fairly predictable, it still had you sitting near the edge of your seat. It moved along a pretty nice pace so I have no real issues with it. There was some stuff to the main plot, mostly just Houjou becoming G3 though to be frank. Overall I thought it was a nice story that kept you entertained, and grabbed your interest in the later moments. The character development department though was lacking in my opinion. I know it would be easy to say Ozawa was developed for stating her reasons why she prefers Hikawa, but let's face it, it's a completely stupid reason. So guess what? I'm not counting it as character development. So yeah, I honestly didn't spot any real development here. Now the action though, oh boy did that develop. It developed into being great. Finally I got a G3 fight I've been wanting. Just the man in the suit kicking total ass. Not only that, but it wasn't a bad fight to begin with anyways. Coupled with the fact that the G3 suit finally delivered an ass whoppin, I personally say that the action was just plain awesome. So in the end, I'd say this was a really nice episode. It had a story which get really interesting in the second half, and finally delivered a great G3 fight. |
SkyRider episode 1
Okay, Showa Rider is pretty cool. A lot of shit happened to this guy. His friends died, the scientist's associate got killed and he got turned into a Cyborg. I just love the 80s fist fight action yet it still has a dark story that entirely fits into 1 episode. I love the Skyrider suit, its a cool mix of flying bug and the technological cyborg stuff. Its really cheesy to see SkyRider flying around in front of the old green scene effects. But, I'd rather have that the Wizard All-Dragon CGI shit. Its sad to see that only 31 episodes of this subbed. |

Agito Episode 10
Never run from the cops in a situation like this Shouichi. It will only make them think you did in fact commit the crime. Besides you have nothing to hide. So just go down to the station and talk to them and it'll be over fairly quickly. "Trust me he has it alright. I've hung around him and the people he's staying with. They've all told me that he has it. Plus he can barely remember some easy shit. So yeah, he has amnesia alright." Exactly. What exactly could you do Mana? Just let the Professor call up his lawyer and let him handle it. Shouchi will be fine. Besides this a children's show, the only thing you could even possibly do would not be suitable for the audience. Houjou may be a bit of a dick, but you got to admit he knows how to treat his team. I'd gleefully put up with him if it meant going out to a fancy dinner after every mission. Shit be cool yo. You know they've got to be thinking "Did this guy really murder somebody?" :lol Shouchi you dumb ass. Be happy you're even getting tea...and pork with rice. Lucky dick. Did Mana skip school to visit Shouchi? Or did she come here straight after school ended? So she pretty much just revealed that she has psychic powers? Alright then. I would say I'm shocked that Hikawa believes her, but the bit with the license and the fact that he was working on murder cases with a supernatural feel to them makes it a bit hard to believe he'd be completely shocked. Maybe a little surprised that somebody does in fact of special powers, but not shocked. "Eh let's give it a shot. I mean what's the worst that can happen if we believe in the 'psychic powers' of a teenage girl whose trying to clear the name of a friend of hers?" So is Ryou in on the whole Akatsuki incident? Because if he isn't, why even bring it up if it's suppose to be top secret? And if he never heard of it before, why didn't he question it? I take it our octopus friend is growing? I will say though that the noises it's making are fairly annoying. She drove it here didn't she? Nobody stopped her because why exactly? Mana is a lucky, lucky girl that she didn't get involved in an accident or pulled over for speeding. If she would have her butt would be in jail right about now. Where exactly does Houjou change into the leather suit at on the trailer? Do the other two just watch him as he undresses? That's a bit awkward if that is indeed the case. But I guess they have to be use to it considering it comes with the job. "Fuck you I'm G3 bitch!" Pussy! You were kicking ass in the last episode no problem. So do so here! I know you're shocked that the Unknown isn't dead, and I'm sure that dealt a blow to your ego since you walked around high on your own hype for believing you killed it. But come on Houjou, get your shit together and fight! Oh gee what a shocker! Except you can clearly tell it's him when they find him in the train car. Well that was episode 10. It was a fairly nice episode. It continued the story from 10 and while the outcome was pretty predictable, it still was a nice ride. I didn't really see a whole lot in terms of character development, so that's a knock against the episode. And unfortunately the action stunk. This show can't make up it's damn mind when it comes to the action department. Overall it wasn't a bad episode, just a typical Agito one. So the big question is will I continue to watch Agito? Eh may as well. But I'm doing so on an episode by episode basis. If it continues to be lackluster save for the rare episode, I may just end up dropping it. Hopefully it starts getting it's shit together. |
Reading your reviews of the episodes, I've got to ask: why do you expect character development in every single episode? Or rather, why do your posts make it seem as if a lack of it in every episode is a bad thing?
Character development is the progression of a character through any given arc. In a year long series, you're often going to need to pad out the major events and growth your characters go through. I think that as long as an episode furthers either the development or the plot, it's fine. It's when you get to those episodes where neither happens that you run into the so-called "filler" territory. With a show that runs so long, you don't want to exhaust all of the territory your characters can cover within a short span of time. If your show does that, you'll eventually hit that area where either nothing happens or the central story doesn't actually matter because it's not impacting anyone. Granted, one of my biggest complaints with Agito is that you can do the show in 26~39 episodes and have it be written much tighter, but with the reality of what's going on, it's difficult to craft a show that can sustain itself with something new and important happening in every single episode. Once the mysteries start being uncovered it becomes a fantastic show, but due to its nature of running for a year, you do need to move things along at a slower pace. (this is why sometimes I have to roll my eyes at the episodic nature of the Garo shows, even the third series, which I loved) |
I tend to bring it up just to state if I found in or not, and this discuss it. If there isn't any then I state it. Regardless of it being episodic you'll still find some every so often. I'm aware not every episode can have it or be exciting. However I can still bring it up regardless.

Decade 14.
It looks like Den-O never ends up making sense, from child Hana to apparently there being multiple Den-O drivers I dunno what is going on but his episode was just really, really fun. Not earth shattering by any stretch of the imagination but just high energy fun. The Imagin allowed our core trio to all let loose and get some really great stuff to do, and although none of it is ultimately very meaningful and isn't going to reinvent the show it was highly entertaining in a personal sort of way. Although Natsumi Den-O with an obvious penis is gonna give me nightmares for a Decade and I'm still frustrated that KUUGA has spent more time as Den-O and G3-X than he has as well...Kuuga. Like why shaft possibly the most iconic and beloved Rider in the whole franchise? I know it's not Godai, but I'd thought you'd be milking the powers all the same for maximum merch. The biggest question I was left with though, was "What sucks more on a visual level, Den-O or Agito?" Agito is like a Korean knockoff Kuuga so you would think it was the obvious winner, but Den-O is more of a waste as the individual Imagin are much more interesting visually than they ever are as Den-O forms. Decisions, decisions... |
A good chunk of the way into Den-O, Hana's actor left the show. So they made some wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey explanation that reverted her to a child. They pulled the same stunt when Ryoutaro's actor wouldn't come back for the post-series movies.
The multiple Den-O belts were VERY briefly explained in the one post-series movie Ryoutaro's actor did appear in. Owner made them. Yeah. He just made them. So the whole thing about there needing to be a specific person as Den-O just kind of vanished when explaining things became too hard. |
