I've been completely out of the loop lately with DVD releases and didn't even know they'd animated the missing episodes of this. Fanboying like mad here :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HICrwM89caY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB788m2iAnE It isn't amazing as there probably isn't enough interest to warrant a higher budget for them sadly, but I would gladly take all the missing episodes looking like this if it meant they got a DVD release. |
Alright saw this yeterday but lets see is I can still remember it :lol
"the Runaway Bride" Good way to start off th new season, I kinda wish Donna is the new companion. But aisde from that, He is really not over Rose, I guess its gonna haunt him for awhile. Anyone else get a Blackarachnia vibe from the soiderchick? Oh and when Doc get pissed, he gets pissed huh? Poor spiders... :lol |

Oh Martha, I loved her. Never much cared for Donna but Martha was great. Her cameos in Torchwood made it all the more bearable I suppose :lol

Man they're really big on blowing Daleks apart at the moment aren't they? :lol
|
The Oswalds...? Oh, how curious.
America is getting all the good stuff at the moment (SDCC, and this...) Kind of makes you wonder if Moff/the producers have given up on the british market... |
Looks good. If I learnt anything last year though, it's that tv on Xmas day just doesn't work with all the family round. Can only hear every fifth word (and I refuse to sit in my room and be a loner =p)

I just find it interesting that they've only really given us cut versions oif the trailers recently and the US seem to get so much more. I'm sure the part-funding deal demands it (you could even comment about attention spans and differing expectations from networks and so on I suppose), but I still don't think it's totally "right". Especially in an age when the 50th Anniversary was simultaneously broadcast to 90+ countries. Sometimes I really hate the backstage politics of Doctor Who.. but somehow, despite all that lark, they manage to produce a show I love. Also, I'm finding it very hard to wait the six days we have left! |
We aren't getting much exclusively. SDCC, despite taking place in the US, is very much an international crowd. It's also a effectively a trade show unrivaled in most of the world. It makes some sense to produce content for it, from an advertising standpoint.
Edit: BBCA is a paid premium channel here, not carried in all markets. Paris Comic Con had the first AAISAT trailer AND the TARDIS console on display. I rarely see people bringing that up. BBCA does contribute to the production costs of the series, but the last I heard the good ol' BBC still kicks in the lion's share. There are rumors that BBC Worldwide will get the reins to Who completely in the near future, though. Right now, despite growing popularity over here, it seems the production team is still focused on the UK above all others. I hope my thoughts make some sense. I'm totally strung out on painkillers at the moment and I'm not sure they do. |

Secondly I've had an inkling of the Beeb shifting Doctor Who away from BBC Wales. Patriotism demands I get a little irrate about that, but in all honestly? As long as the show's integrety isn't compromised by "outside hands" meddling in continuity I happy. (NB: see some of the rumours floating around on what the network slated to pick up Who after the Eighth Doctor movie wanted to do with it... scary stuff) I don't mind change, I'd just rather it not be taken out of the hands of the fans, and the people who love it. Money makes certain producers make just plain weird calls when it comes to this franchise. EDIT: To me, the console and the trailer for AAISAT are ranked significantly lower than the actual product aka proper episodes of DW. I think that's why so many people were thrown by the SDCC exclusive, because it wasn't just about a docudrama or a prop, it was, you know, an exclusive about something we were waiting for with baited breath. |
It just occurred to me that the Eleventh Doctor is perhaps his longest incarnation. Not broadcast years but years of his life.
|
Ok the trailor more confused me on doctor numbering is Matt 11 or not cause they mention him as the 11th and show a scene with a plaq with 11 on is Matt doctor 11 or not

- Its a paid premium channel - BBC UK doesn't deal in long trailers - Doctor Who simply doesn't need that level of TV promotion here. Its already one of the biggest things on television and will be on the cover of every tv guide come next week. Quote:

Glad someone gets it. |
Finally got round to watching the Five(ish) Doctors... freaking hilarious. Every moment of it. Tegan, Barrowman, Peter Jackson(!), Russel T Davies, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and, perhaps most importantly, Mathew Waterhouse.
But it also makes me feel warm inside: the BBC has managed to produce a 50th anniversary that features every Doctor that they can (Except 9... damn). But for now, only 4 days until the Time... Of the Doctor! |
Finally got a chance to watch The Enemy of the World and absolutely loved it, definitely one of my favourite Who watches for the year. It's a very different experience seeing the show tackle Bond style super villains rather than aliens, but Troughton is on top form in both roles and the story has great pacing that focuses on the scenario and the side characters just as much (if not more so) than the TARDIS crew.
If you're looking for a great piece of Who nostalgia that until 2013 was thought to be lost, this comes HIGHLY recommended. |
I enjoyed Time of the Doctor, but I didn't think it was as good as the 50th. That's all I'll say until the rest of you get to see it. So I guess I'll be back tomorrow :p
I feel stupid that I didn't realise the relevance of all the "... Of the Doctor" titles (bar the minisode) until today though. |
Can you PM me some spoilers? I dont mind, no cable :lol Help a brother out!

The last episode bored me, that's it really.

Quite liked the latest episode. That was a fantastic regeneration. Here's to a great incarnation!
|
I absolutely loved The Time of the Doctor, and was completely in tears after it. So wonderful loved so much about it and can't wait for more.
|
Okay it's probably safe to write a bit more :lol
It was very good, but not great. It was a whole hour dedicated to tying up the buttload of loose ends from seasons 5-7, which was both a good and bad thing. Good in that yay, no loose ends. Bad in that I just don't think it all played out that well. In the end the Silents were completely underwhelming. Galifrey turning up was predictable given the situation, but having it revealed to survive the plot from the last episode and then have it swan off again without a though was dumb. I really hope it's not going to become a "last of the Daleks" scenario.. It was a great end for the 11th Doctor, emotional but at the same time dignified (unlike his predecessor). That final speech about remembering every moment of his life was wonderful. Capaldi was good I guess? I don't really feel 20 seconds is enough to judge him on, but that doesn't seem to be stopping everyone in both camps :rolleyes Most importantly Asylum of the Daleks' ending seems to have been retconned, and that's a victory as far as I'm concerned. |
Looking forward to the new Doctor.

Just watched Time of The Doctor. Perhaps it was because I have to now watch things on my phone, the effects were stunning in this episode weren't they? From the brilliant rendering of the Church and the ships surrounding it, to the stunning action sequences and cool additions like the wooden Cybermen. Wow Doctor Who has never looked so good.
In terms of the episode itself, it was okay. I'm still not a huge fan of Moffat's convoluted story plotting but for the most part I could actually follow this episode, which made a refreshing change. And thankfully the episode moved too quickly to become too bogged down in its twists, like many of Moffat's stagnant adventures. About the only thing that confused me was the whole Confessional Priest thing, was this always a thing? I thought The Silence were some super evil race manipulating the world for their ends because...of reasons, now they are genetically modified confession booths on legs? I dunno how I feel about the whole Old Doctor thing. I like the idea of the fact that the final Doctor ages and has a lifespan (even if it is much longer than that of a humans) so Timelord's can die, within theory, of peaceful old age and natural causes but it raises all kinds of questions. Like how does it work then when the Doctor is already an old man when he regenerates? Does age even apply if he's born with a sixty year old face? Is this going to be the plot of the whole new season? At least the make up was impressive. Honestly I don't know how I feel about Smith in his final episode in general. For most of his tenure, he was the only thing I liked about his episodes, and at time he was the only thing stopping me dropping the show all together. But the evolution of his Doctor took Who in a direction I really didn't appreciate. I know I sound nostalgic and old fashioned but I'm really not a big fan of this 'sexy' Doctor, flirting and snogging and taking his kit off, that isn't the Doctor I looked up to as a kid. I'm hoping that as Capaldi is a bit older, his Doctor will be much more like the mysterious father figure like the best of the Classic Doctor's. He looks absolutely terrifying, haha. |
Curious thing I caught...
Before Smith's regeneration, he mentioned it was the "start of a whole new cycle." Does that make Capaldi the new #1 with 13 more regenerations in store? |
