There aren't a lot of explanations for why some types of weapons work better against certain types of monsters. Knowing how the string instruments in the show work, I assume it's because they can stab in and deliver the soundwaves internally, while percussion instruments have to get through the hard shell first.

Blade is my favorite Kamen Rider series to date.

Absolutely. The last third is amazing, though it does take a while to sit through the earlier episodes.

The thing with Blade is that it really does get really interesting from around episode 30 on. I was awfully slow with those episodes, but it gradually got more and logical and exciting. It's worth the wait. That finale is really different, in a good way.

Who knows. I didn't like Agito when I started but I fell in love with it over time. Then again it happened at a point in the 10s. I don't know if I could wait till the thirties for Blade, especially if I couldn't wait for Magiranger to pick up.

Blade picked up for me incredibly early, with Tachibana's story arc. I don't think one needs to get to the final third for it to get good...

Anyway, I watched Shin Kamen Rider. I know it was a prologue and thus there was intended for a follow up to be made. I get it. But can someone please explain to me what the hell I just watched?

The show starts at a frantic pace, I never runderstood the "only gets good at the 30's" comment.

It does have slow moments, but the start is super fast.

I watched episode 1 yesterday...I have to agree.

A fast pace doesn't necessarily have to be good. My major problem with the early episodes of Blade is that it threw in so many questions that didn't seem to be answered. It was kinda confusing, but the pieces of the puzzle (pun intended) slowly came together. At around episode 30, I finally felt like I knew what was going on and the show became much more enjoyable. At that point, I just couldn't stop watching once I started an episode.

Don't forget boobs. The one thing Kamen Rider always missed.

I thought Garo had enough of that to compensate. :p

Ok, so due to the overwhelming support of Fourze I've decided to have a go at it a couple of days ago...once started I could NOT get enough so I went ahead and mass-marathoned it all the way through and just finished it a couple of hours ago...severely underrated this series, LOVED it. Onto the movies now!

Glad to hear. The series really is somethin' special. It's not perfect, especially since the latter run of episodes really kinda trips up a bit when the series realized it needs to be going somewhere, and it rushes what should have been major villains, but I digress. My only other big complaint is one I have with the ending of just about every other season that I've watched save for like..one or two.

...man do I need to start watching Garo hahahaha.

Glad to see you're sticking with Hibiki, and seem to be enjoying it. I do hope you plan on watching through to the end as well rather than caving in and stopping at 29. It really doesn't get that bad from 30 on, and some of the show's best moments are after that point.

No they aren't. A couple of moments are well done, but the show still loses its unique voice and style, becoming little more than watered down and generic early Heisei Rider; Diet Faiz, if you will.

I liked Blade right from the get go, but I can see why someone would think the first few episodes are slow as they are world building in them.

Some of my favorite episodes of the show include the Wolf Undead with Black Fang. I just love the bike chance scenes.

So I just started the first episode of Hibiki. The fuck am I watching? There's a musical number in my Kamen Rider show. A MUSICAL NUMBER in my Kamen Rider show. Did I accidentally start watching a live action Japanese version of Fantasia or something?

Well I have now finished Hibiki's first episode. And I have deduced that this is the weirdest Kamen Rider I have ever seen. I'm probably going to be saying what the hell a lot.

The shots of the landscape do look quite beautiful though, and I love the ending theme.

In terms of Hibiki, whether I finish it or not remains to be seen. The show is fine, great even but between TVNs encoding and translation I find Hibiki in places genuinely painful.

From dialogue kept so close to Japanese (as in grammar, cultural humour etc) with no attempt to localise anything, it may as well just be in Grongi. You can write a sentence in English, but a translation is more than just using English words, that is why google translate is shit.

And if that wasn't bad enough, this superhero show has quality so poor, all the superheroics are literally unwatchable as you can't see what the flying fuck is happening.

It's nice to be watching an older show that a few people are watching for once :lol

Try the alternate subs on YouTube that got mentioned a few pages back. They'll only get you to 16, but the ride will be much smoother.

I've seen Den-O. But Hibiki is taking the cake in my opinion.

The only reason I've been avoiding them is if I watch good subs for the first sixteen episodes it's only gonna be that much more painful when I have to switch back to TVN.

Right, episode six of Hibiki before I call it a night! This show sorta reminds me of Kuuga...but good.

Hibiki is fast growing as my all time favourite Rider. From his gorgeous Oni form and the way his actual turning into a monster makes him stand apart, especially with his wild drumming fighting style. But out of suit he's so charismatic and funny that he rises above the bad translation and awful video quality. Just a shame nothing else does...

Honestly this week, thanks to the way it was lit, I could actually see most of the fight....and then almost immediately wished I couldn't. Wow those effects are ATROCIOUS.

Upon thinking about it, I thought there was a group that was doing Hibiki using the DVDs?

I don't really made the Nihon subs personally. The quality isn't that great, but I've seen much worse. Plus I like how the subs themselves carried the Japanese way of speaking. As somebody studying Japan and who tries to write his Japanese characters as authentic as possible, it's cool seeing it in the subs and not totally Americanized.

Those are the ones that are on YouTube, episodes 1-16. I have no idea where they came from, though, or if there are any other episodes done. :(

Micchi's an asshole, but atleast Kouta scared the little twerp off. Like it would've been a fight. What would Ryugen do against Baron Lemon? Except, you know, die a horrible Lemon Banana related incident.

And I don't know yet what that black Overlord is but I like him. So dark and moody.

But the best part of this episode was, by far, Oren. Especially when he found his White Knight.. and then got tossed aside :lol

Episode 28 of Gaim

Just when you think Micchi can't be any more of a bastard backstabbing snake, he goes and does something just to prove you wrong. He's the one, and only, character I actively hope dies. And I hope it's violent.

I hope Mai does it.

Takatora is dead.. is he dead? Because in this show I have no way of knowing. And he could've still had his Sengouku Driver and survived the fall. Is he dead?

Yay Takatora survived.. and Micchi's still not dead. But so much makes sense now. About the forest, what happened, who the Overlords are, and stuff. I wonder who he keeps looking at inside the coffin though.

I think it's his wife who probably died and he's doing all of this in an attempt to try and revive her.

That's what I was thinking to. Or a child maybe.

I believe he does in one of the next episodes Sentai is about to watch. So I'd say it's probably a dead wife he wants to revive and taking over the human realm is somehow the key to doing it.
