So the pictures for the 6th wave are out, and it's exactly what I expected.


The octopus will probably be a bit back heavy, so be careful of that. Otherwise I can only recommend picking this wave up if you missed the 4th wave and need the auxiliary cubes. Personally I may just wait till the octopus is being sold by itself before getting it.

I might try for that pack just for the aux cubes...Maybe.

Up until this morning I was collecting the clear version Zyuohger mini-pla. I was musing over if they'd do an SP04 set of the repaint aux animals, octopus, and Cube Condor.

Of course, that musing was soured as I was noticing that so many of clear Cube animals are already cracking in places that'll making them unusable if they completely break. I knew I was having issues with Cube Tiger cracking all over the place, but this morning I noticed it on multiple other clear Cube animals.

At this point, I guess I'm bailing on collecting the SP sets and now need to catch up on the regular sets. Thankfully I have a few regular color sets from back before I thought they'd do clear versions of all the animals. Now I just need to get rid of my unopened SP03 set that I just paid for last night and 2 clear Cube Rhinoceroseses.

I have the SP01 set on the way from Hobbysearch back when they had a sale. Been almost a month since it shipped via RSAL but now I'm a bit worried about how it'll last once built. :( Granted it'll be pretty stationary while on display but still worrying to hear about.

Mine was pretty stationary, too. Cube Tiger is the worst. Both of the holes for the shoulder claws cracked from forming Wild King one time. When a friend pointed it out, I looked Tiger over and found numerous cracks forming all over the place.

This morning I took apart Wild King getting ready to form Wild Tosai King and noticed cracks in Elephant and Lion just had surprisingly loose joints already (no cracks noted, though). In general I've always heard that clear plastic breaks easier, but never had problems with it. Apparently the cheaper plastic used in mini-pla or just the variety of colors cause breakages more frequently.


Now I worry about my clear ToQger sets. Would explain why the shoulder joint on Pink Ressha gave out on me so quickly after I had assembled the sets. Hopefully they'll last longer because they're not as complicated as the Zyuohger cubes.

The worry of cracking is why I avoided those sets, despite being my best opportunity to get a Zyuoh Wild Minipla, a figure I've been desperately missing >>

If there'd been news about this, I hadn't seen it, but I just ran across a listing on Mandarake for a Wild Tousai Zyuoh King set that includes most everything except Cube Whale and the movie mecha, so Zyuoh King, Zyuoh Wild, Tousai Zyuoh, and cubes Kirin, Mogura, Kuma, and Komori, so it's also got the large spike weapon that completes Wild Tousai Zyuoh King. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone's interested.

A while back, I picked up Gokai-Oh, not realizing at the time that it was the original, somewhat-problematic release. (I'd been semi-aware of the Starburst version, but was under the mistaken impression that it only came in translucent plastic, which appeals to me in no way.)

I was delighted, then, when I ran across inexpensive solid-color versions of Gokai Jet and Gokai Racer on Mandarake. I bought them with the intention of using them to replace the current limbs, but as I was assembling them, I was struck by the opportunity inherent in taking apart the old ones to combine them with the differently-colored sets. (In this way, I'm grateful I hadn't attempted to paint the original.)

The newer set didn't have much color separation, it's just that the base color is more appropriate. When I realized I'd have the sticker the green wheels on Gokai Racer to look black, it dawned on me that I didn't have to. I prised the original apart to repurpose the elbows, fist, wheels, and nose. I did the same with the Jet, swapping blue for black where appropriate.

Here's a question for you: why do you think they included two hats - one in blue and one in black - with Starburst Gokai Jet? In my picture, I left the blue one on Gokai Jet to see how it looks both in jet and combined modes.

I'm thinking about picking up Starburst Gokai Marine if I can find it, although that's the limb I actually preferred looking darker. It doesn't look like there are color differences for the Starburst Galleon and Trailer, so I'll likely pass on them unless there's something I'm missing. (If I really want to do Gokai-Oh's Starburst attack, I'll bust out my SRC. I bought the minipla due to (a) loving minipla and (b) being able to re-create Shinken Gokai-Oh, Hurricane Gokai-Oh, etc.)

They probably left two hats because they couldn't bother to edit the runner to remove the blue hat and just included the new hat molded in black.

I for one am very glad they decided to redo them with the proper limbs because it required less paint to make accurate. Here's how mine turned out:

Does anyone know whether the Cube Hyou (Leopard) in the Cube Octopus set comes with the spike for Wild TousaiKing's arm? It's not advertised, but since it's a Cube Kuma re-use, I'm hoping it's included.

Yes, cube weapons in the cube octopus set do come with all of the parts that the original aux cube animals came with.

Are we certain that the gray part is a sticker? The black seems to be, certainly.

Well, it's got lots of wrinkles on it, and it's a solid shiny silver unlike the dull silver grey the plastic is.

It's a sticker. In fact, looks like the majority of the non-Megazord details are stickers. They prioritized that mode it seems.

When I look for minipla preorder, it always seems to stay only a few day and not available anywhere after that (other that auction site), even when it is eventually available like for kyuranger set 01.
Does any one has any explanation of why ?
I can understand that preorder are limited, but when it becomes available why site like amiami or other doesn't seek to sell more ?
I also wonder how you seems to be so aware of news about mini pla. Is there a good place to be informed of incoming preorders ?

I can only hazard a guess. AmiAmi is generally pretty conservative with preorders, so they don't always open more preorders. Also, there's a window of time beyond which they can't do so.

Sentai minipla are frequently re-released, so missing a preorder on, say, KyurenOh mostly just means you'll have to wait a little longer. If it's anything like Zyuohger, they'll release a more complete set of, say, the first nine Voyagers sometime after the first two sets are released.

This thread, actually. Users here have been pretty great about giving everyone a heads-up when preorders become available.

Oh, and unrelated, I literally just received KyurenOh in the mail, and now, I understand why I didn't have to order a full case. What I received was a complete package of all six mecha. Since there are no extras, it makes it easy for the vendor to sell either an entire case or just break it in two.

...aaand although I'm not done assembling it (I haven't started Shishi Voyager, yet), I've found a gripe. The stickering is asymmetrical for no apparent reason, so Chameleon Voyager only has a sticker on one half of its snout, Kajiki Voyager only has a sticker on one half of his dorsal fin, and Ookami and Oushi voyagers both only have a particular sticker on one side. Given that they put a lot of effort into minimizing the use of stickers (the tiny sprues for Chameleon's eyes and Oushi's visor are wonderful), it just strikes me as a strange, given most Sentai minipla I've owned do pretty symmetrical stickers.

Further edit: Okay, it looks like the asymmetry is true to the suit and DX toy design. I have no idea *why* they did that, but the minipla isn't cutting corners, it's just following the DX and suit.

As I have read on the bandai blog staff (thanks to google trad and a bit of extrapolation), it is a test (as apparently it was asked by lot of people) to sell minipla directly in complete box. They said that if sells are good, there will continue to do so. Only future will tell if it is true.

For my part, I would really loved to buy one to support this, but as I missed preorders, and prices are going a bit high on auction site for the boxes, I found someone selling a pack of 6 and not the complete box for a normal price. It will be for the next month I hope.

Just keep watching Amiami, they'll relist it sooner or later. It might be the entire case rather than just one set but they'll relist it.

Trust me, I bought Cube Whale from them about 3 months after it came out.

As expected, I'm pretty darned impressed with Kyurenoh now that I have it in-hand. As expected, the color separations are very good. Chameleon Voyager came with six sprues! There's minimal use of stickers, although there's some black on Oushi Voyager that I was surprised to discover was a sticker rather than plastic, given that just about everything else is cast in an appropriate color.

The articulation is as good as you'd expect from modern Sentai minipla, with functional knees, hips, and ankles. The shoulders are on hinges in addition to a swivel, which really opens up a lot of options. It's got elbows of variable functionality depending on which limbs you use. The Kajiki and Chameleon Voyagers feature a ball joint on a section that can collapse back into the forearm when not in use. The design still limits the elbow articulation to some extent, but you can still get a pretty solid bend out of them. The head/neck is on a swivel rather than a ball, but it makes sense given how the different modes work. The extending wrench for Chameleon and the opening mouths on Oushi and Ookami are all replicated here. (And the mouth of Oushi is crying out for an accessory to hold.)

The Kyutama are a little puzzling. As expected, two stickers are applied to the plastic piece in the center, one side for the constellation/animal, and the other for the pilot in the cockpit. Like the DX Kyutama, you can turn the globe with a satisfying click. Unlike the DX, I can't figure out why you'd do so, as the image does not turn. The pilot details are cool, although depending on lighting, it's very hard to see the pilots in the darker Kyutama.

The Oushi and Ookami Voyagers don't work quite as well as arms, as they lack the extendable elbow joint, but between the ball joint and the moving necks, you can kind of fake a little bend. There are some cool, unexpected little details, like a rolling wheel on Oushi's underside. This set has some of the tiniest, most delicate stickers I've needed to place on a minipla, as well as some of the fiddliest individual components. (Getting Chameleon Voyager's eyes in place took some careful effort, and they look great.)

So there's significantly better articulation than the DX, and although the profile of the individual limb Voyagers is a smidge off as a result, I think it's well worth it. The only real downside is that the force needed to bend the elbows tends to be greater than the force needed to remove or attach the Kyutama from/to the ball joint, so it's exceptionally easy to accidentally pop off a forearm when you're just trying to bend it. I've found I mostly need to fully extend and bend the joint, then try to get it connected in its bent state.

I'm really glad I picked up this set, and that I wasn't stuck with extra boxes. I hope those of you who weren't able to get the first round of preorders will nevertheless be able to pick it up (and I honestly expect you will; there hasn't been a Sentai minipla set in the last few years that seemed particularly difficult to find.)

Well apparently there's 6 boxes in it. And the smaller voyagers are each 1 box.
So it'll probably contain at least two of the small voyagers. Though I wonder if the two bipedal voyagers will also take one box.

Each set is often either naught but auxillary, or a full mech and extra.
So the second set will probably contain the last 4 of the main 9 voyagers. And probably the Ryu voyager as well.
