A female butterfly ranger would be way too stereotypical. I will continue to believe in the male Papillon-Ohger until proven otherwise.

Why use a female Ranger mold for a male Ranger? Think about that one for a hot minute.

Papilllon-Ohger is nonbinary

I've seen this a couple of times, and like, is there a source? Or wishful speculation taken out of context? Or is it just a fake rumour like "Zi-O will totally be a woman, look at her chestplate!"

It kind of is similar to the Zi-O one, for that old story, a rumour mentioned there were plans to have Zi-O be a woman and beyond that, said rumour listed a bunch of different other stuff. The first source I saw claiming that Kingohger would use bugs as a motive said that they aren't entirely sure what Papillion'a gender is. Also worth noting this might be like, a situation like Utena or Fate where a female character is addressed as a male one for their role

There could be any number of explanations.

I don't think Papillon and Kamakiri's mold looks particularly gendered at all. They just look smaller than the other three.

I'm still leaning toward Papillon being a Rose of Versailles situation, where they're born a princess but live life as a prince, but I think it's definitely still possible that Papillon is male.
