I find it hilarious that the original FMA anime was heralded as a high quality and excellent anime series, and then Brotherhood comes and says that it actually sticks to the manga and now the '03 FMA series is treated like it's a crappy show and should never be brought up :lol

If I went back and watched the original anime I'd still probably enjoy it, but Shamballa has always been a pretty awful film.

Oh, yeah, Shamballa has crappy anime OVA written all over it.
But the 03 series as a whole is actually a pretty nice anime, one of the few anime I don't write off as crap and cliche.

Honestly, I was not a fan of the original anime. I enjoyed it when it was on Adult Swim, but I never found it to be ground breaking or anything. Brotherhood, on the other hand, I absolutely loved the moment I watched the first disc. There are some good things done in the original anime, but Brotherhood had far better story telling and character growth. Ed actually changed throughout the series whereas I did not feel he grew that much in the original anime.

Anyway, I just finished the first episode with Burai (17). I forgot that some of the worst episodes were done right before in a string. The eleventh episode with the Djinn, the 13th with the Dwarf, and then 16 with the sneezing plant are down right horrible episodes and I would have skipped them had this not been the first time I was seeing them subbed

I have to defend the toy, it's one of my favorite pieces in my DX collection, if not my favorite. It's simple yes, but its also rather proportionate and solid-feeling. He loks strong and powerful to me. The combination, though simple, is perfectly stable and the individual components all look perfect. The arms have a decent range of motion and his wrists make a whole lot of difference in posing. The torso spinning gimmick is actually a whole lot of fun.

Aside from the simple combination (which I personally don't mind) and the fact that you don't have a place to store his weapon in combined form (way better than Gokaiger's messy situation), there is nothing I can fault about this toy.

Yeah, fuck that noise. I love FMA '03 and I honestly have no desire to watch Brotherhood because I could easily just read the manga, since they're basically the same with a few minor changes.

I never said it was crap,I just said it was open ended.I'm actually rewatching the whole series right now,and I love the stories from it.(Although the Greed storyline was too short imo,wanted to see more of him) I liked the '03 series cause it was more story driven,where Brotherhood was all about action,till the ending where it just got out of control.It went from all about alchemy to a giant demon homunculous about to kill everyone on the planet and swallow the eye-moon!

Not you perse, just general public opinion. It's been widely and openly negative about the 03 series since the advent of Brotherhood.

YES! I'll admit Go-Busters is pretty slow for the first 25-ish episodes, but if you can stick around till after that, it's so worth it.

100% agreed. Right at episode 25 that show picked up the pace and never looked back.

Then why can't I just watch key episodes of the first 25, and skip ahead to when it picks up? You know. The first episode, first combination, introduction of Beet and Stag, and onward like that.

Why watch 9 hours of a show on the premise that 'It gets better later on'?
That's just like the argument "Stick with FF13. It gets good 20 hours in!"

You can if you want. I've just always held the ideal that one should watch all episodes of a show.

9 hours of a show is a much smaller proportion compared to 20 hours of a game.

Goodness who could do that? It ruins the whole completist feel of having finished a season. :lol

Here's my big issue with the original anime, Sloth does not make sense. Each of the characters are supposed to based on the sin they are named after. Sloth does not fit (and Bradley doesn't work as Pride that well either). There is nothing lazy about her in the first anime.

I will admit, I liked the idea that it was placed in an alternate world from ours, but that is about it.

Really though, it's just a decent anime in a sea of trash and generic schlock. That's why I liked it. Because it was worth watching.

Until episode 30, when the brakes were slammed on again.

It depends, as Ghost in the Shell SAC was airing on Adult Swim after FMA, so that is pretty much why I ended up watching FMA.

Anyway, I don't think I'll be able to get another 18 episodes of Zyu watched tomorrow, but I should be able to get through at least 10 more.

Just finished episode 45 of Abaranger the New Year episode, it has to be the weirdest Super Sentai episode, it has to be. It was just ... out there.From a rumba dancing monkey to Yukito giving everybody a massage to turn them back to normal to the cooking demo to dinosaurs playing cards, it was just weird. Fun but weird.

Just finished Task 23 of Boukenger. Working my way towards where the movie fits in right now. What I really like about this show is that each of the 6 characters is interesting in their own right. Even Natsuki is fun. So it's not a drag when a particular character is the focus of an episode. Having the 4 Negative Syndicates works to break the series up a bit as well -- it's not the same badguys on the same set sending out a monster each episode. So that's very cool.

I always loved that about the show as well. The plethora of bad guys made things seem really different. It wasn't the same dude saying "curse you!" every week when they lost. And each villain was different enough from the others that it always felt fresh. Especially the Questers and Ryoun.

I love that the villains they sent out fit the Orginizations theme that sent them out.That way one episode they would fight a lizard type monster,then next episode a ninja type.It was a great mix and mash.

Watched some Goseiger last night. The writers were in a particularly Pervy mood when writing the episode where Eri and Moune go to the beach and get overheated. You don't really see Rangers losing their tops in America. Shame this episode won't get covered in Megaforce.

I loved Hyde's attempts to keep cool in that episode :lol

Haha. Seeing Hyde stop to go to the bathroom after eating so many cucumbers was another surreal moment.
