They Live - THe first time I saw this movie last year I instantly fell in love with it and it became my sixth favorite Carpenter movie. After watching it again, I think it might have moved up to the fourth spot as it is just so damn good. Not only that, but its political message holds up even truer this day, which is odd. Both V for Vendetta and They Live are two of the most prophetical movies I have ever seen. Easily an 8/10 stars.
Book of Life - Love triangles have been done to death. In concept, this movie is nothing new as it is pretty much the plot of The Corpse Bride. On the other hand, the movie is done with great passion that you can not help but ignore its flaws and just enjoy the movie for the ride it brings. It is funny, it has a lot of mature themes, a great mix of music from various eras, excellent voice acting, and overall, it is just a fun ride from start to finish. I also got a big Oberon/Titania vibe from the underworld's lords, which was also good. THere are some truly excellent one liners and puns here and it makes up for the crappiness of The Box Trolls. If you don't mind unoriginal plots that have a unique execution, this is definitely a movie for you. Oh, but don't waste your time on the 3D as it sucks. I give this movie a 7/10 stars. The Shining - As always, this movie has wonderful sound design, editing, cinematography, and visuals. The heart beat sounds when Jack is in Room 237 is just awesome as is the lengthy long camera shots like in the beginning with the beautiful angles and when Wendy is walking towards the radio to call the station. It is full of suspense and has some excellent scares in it. The only downside to the movie is Jack Nicholson himself. His descent into madness does not feel legitimate as Jack seems to be on the edge of the coin to insanity from the very beginning. It takes away from him supposedly transforming from good guy trying to right for his family into maniacal murdering psychopath. Also, Wendy is kind of a moron at times, but Danny does a great job of acting between both Danny and Tony. Overall, this is a fantastic movie and one of my favorite Stephen King movies to date. I give it an 8... er... maybe a 9 out of 10 stars. The Fog Remake - What the hell did I just watch? Okay, to be fair, it makes far more sense that Nick and Elizabeth knew each other rather than Nick just picking up some hitchhiker and that hitchhiker just sleeping with him out of the blue, but still. This movie has no idea what suspense is or how to even build tension. There is no build up to anything going on, it just happens. There is way too much exposition in the sense of constant flashbacks and the ending is completely ripped off of an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark. Not only that, but the ending makes very little sense as it is just random. I get that she was a reincarnation of the captain's lover but why... how... HUH?! There are a lot of scenes that serve no purpose (such as her searching for the runes in Google only to have the computer go out so she has to look them up in a book five minutes later and the dude with the dogs) and it seems like the ghosts can perform all of these super powers to everyone BUT the main characters. Overall, this movie sucks ass and gets a lucky 2/10 stars only because... well I'm not sure why, probably because it isn't one of the worst movies ever made |
Just watched Xmen days of future past. And while I really enjoyed it, Singer kinda shit on First Class, Theres a bunch of plot holes from other movies, and WHY would Mystiques DNA be the one to make the Sentinels so powerful? Wouldnt that be Darwins DNA...
|
You are questioning how DNA would power a robot in a movie about mutants who are able to send a man physically to the past through his mind? As for the plot holes from the other movies, it no longer matters, which was the purpose for this.
|
How does Professor X come back at the end of Wolverine and then the beginning of this. Thats the biggest plot hole...Why does mystique later join Magneto in spite of the events of this movie? Plus, I am a big believer in that if you travel to the past to alter something..It ALWAYS happened like that and was meant to be, therefore you can not change what is to be.
|
1. Xavier was revived in the Post-Credits scene of Last Stand. He transferred his mind to his brain-dead twin or something. I guess they didn't fully explain it because (thankfully) they wanted to separate themselves from the monstrosity that was Last Stand as much as possible.
2. Nothing says she did. 3. That doesn't make sense and ends up as a really boring story. But, more importantly, why WOULDN'T you want Last Stand and Origina wiped completely from history? |
The point of this movie was to make it so both First Class and DoFP were the only canonical movies. They have done it and now they can finally go back to a streamlined timeline without plot holes.

And yes it makes more sense to get Mystiques DNA and not Darwins. First off Darwin was killed in First Class and there is nothing left to use and second Darwin is adapting to his environments but Mystique can actively change her genetic code. They used this as a basis for the Sentinels and improved upon it by making the Sentinels being able to actively copy a mutants power set so they would be more effective against a certain mutant. |
As of now, I'm currently watching Wes Craven's New Nightmare.

I hate you Halloween 6. I hate you with every fiber of my being. I hate your music, I hate how everything sounds like an echo to it, I hate that Paul Rudd is in it, I hate how Michael looks, I hate your story, I hate both version of you, I just simply hate your stinking guts you piece of shit movie. May I never EVER see your filthy ass again.

Trick r Treat - This movie just flat out rocks!! It has a great set of stories and an interesting way of telling them. The characters have little development, but the movie knows what it wants to be and what it wants to do that you really forget all about it. It is unique, original, and is something I would love to see a sequel to (although, it would probably be only half as good). It is also a shame this movie never got a theatrical run as it is better than 95% of the horror movies that have some out in the last five years. Not to mention Sam is an adorable monster. I give it an 8/10 stars.

At least the PCut is the superior movie. It remembers that Loomis is an integral part of the series and is a more consistent movie. Plus, 6 is not even close to being as bad as Resurrection or Zombie II.
|
I disagree entirely. Resurrection is at least coherent and while it's bad, at least it's entertainingly bad. No matter what version of six you watch, it's a piece of shit all the way. The plots make jack shit sense in both films, the characters suck (not even Pleasance is that great here), six is just wholly shit in both versions. The theatrical is a bit more entertaining, but that's ruined by the obnoxiousness of the music and everything sounding like it has an echo. P-Cut may be a bit more coherent, but it's plot is just retarded.
So yeah, both versions suck the big one. Hell I hate it so much I'm giving away my three pack of it, H20, and Resurrection just so I can get it out of my possession. |
So decades after everyone else, I finally, finally, finally got around to watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It was pretty awesome. Not quite as awesome as the hype led be to believe, but still a good watch. I have to say, I'm really impressed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. Everything's just so well knitted together.

Halloween - 9/10
Halloween II - 7/10 H20 - 6/10 Halloween III - 7/10 Nightmare Before Xmas - 8/10 Rocky Horror Picture Show 7/10 Also watched this thing called Short Peace today which featured a bunch of anime shorts. To be honest, they all sucked. Possessions was the most creative of them though, but made very little sense. The rest were just blah, especially the last one titled something like The Last Weapon, which was flat out boring as hell. |
Cinderella
No not the fairytale, a Korean Horror movie. This was a bit weird for me, but not necessarily in a bad way. The film is about a mother and her daughter, and various huntings/killings. The mother is a plastic surgeon, and all of her patients, particularly friends of her daughter, keep winding up dead and or mutilated due to the activity of said ghost. The film does an decent job of having an atmosphere, but I can't say it ever had an outright creepy one, but it was a nice attempt. I think the lack of music throughout most of the film helps in this regard, but I never felt particularly in suspense. There are a couple of good moments that come close to achieving that tone, such as two girls carving each others faces up, and especially near the end when it becomes clear just how bat shit insane the mother is. With the revelation she abducted a missing child to replace her burn victim daughter, but when her biological child started to recover, she removed the face of the orphan for her own daughter. Afterwards, she keeps the orphan locked away in a basement, never to be seen or even known about by anyone else. The ghost is of course the orphan, who commits suicide earlier in the film. But the intrigue is quickly swept under the rug by a big WTF ending, sadly. I really could not tell you what happens at the end, it's almost like they remembered they had to give it an ending. The mother goes to remove her daughter's face so she can "return it" to the now dead orphan. And...I think the mom just fucking dies for no apparent reason. She falls over and what's left of the movie is from her POV as a ghost talking to the orphan ghost and I have no idea WTF is going on. Roll credits. Anyway, it's not a bad film, and it's worth a watch. But I don't think it's something I'd watch again. There's nothing here that pisses me off, no really unlikeable characters. But there isn't anything or anyone that sticks out either, most of the characters are just there. We never get to know any of the victims to feel emotional impact. We feel bad for the orphan of course, because she was treated horribly, but that's about the extent of being invested. |
Interstellar - If you want to see a movie that has phenomenal acting, great visuals, but an overstuffed, convoluted plot, with some of the worst sound mixing ever, this movie is for you. There is so much greatness here, that its negatives ultimately sour the experience, causing it to be one of Nolan's weakest films ever. Thankfully it is no where near as bad as Insomnia, but it is almost on the same level as The Dark Knight Rises when it comes to disappointment. There was no need for this movie to be 3 hours long, in fact, it would have been fine right at 2. I just don't understand why these filmmakers these days seem to think they have to make their movies as long as possible when the movie clearly feels bloated just to increase the running time. Visually, the movie is stunning. However, it tends to spend a lot of time shoving the same side shots of the space ship down our throats to the point that those shots no longer look appealing after two hours. Regardless, the biggest atrocity this movie holds is in the sound mixing department. The music is so overbearing and loud that it muddles out a lot of the dialog and sound effects. In fact, this is another issue The Dark Knight Rises suffered from and I do not understand why WB feels the need to do this on a constant basis. Overall, I can not go into any more detail without spoilers, but I will say this, TARS was the best character in the movie and he was a freaking robot. I am not sure what I exactly want to give this movie, so I'm going to just say it is somewhere between a 6-7/10 stars.

Day 16:
Mighty Morp.... I mean.... crap, I f***ed it up again.... Big Hero 6 (2014): http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/2818...K-64332692.JPG *clears throat* This was one of the BEST Disney movies in a long time. Most Disney movies recently have been Princess movies (with the exception of Wreck It Ralph), so this was a well needed movie for the boys. Big Hero 6 is based on the Marvel comic series of the same name. Due to the movie just being released, I will not give out any information about the plot. I do have one thing to say, though: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...max_Render.png Baymax was HILARIOUS! I give this movie 9.5 hug-able marshmallows out of 10. |

Saw that the '89 Batman film had been added to Netflix so I thought I'd check it out.
...Holy crap; this does not hold up at all. The plot is a mess; events are barely connected and motivation for anyone & anything is barely explained. We get virtually no characterization for Batman & even less for his supposed Love Interest Vickie Vale. Why does she care so much about him & why is he willing to risk the secret of Batman after ONE DATE?! Jack Nicholson as The Joker is funny for about five minutes and then just grates on you for the rest of time. Some of his antics are WAY too over the top for a movie ostensibly made as an extended toy commercial. And what exactly is added to this story or the overall Bat-mythos with the "reveal" that he killed the Waynes???? I don't think Tim Burton understands a damn thing about the Batman character, especially considering that Batman announces at the onset of his final fight with Joker I'm going to kill you. Even considering the less-than-impressive comics at the time this was made, that seems way outside any incarnation of Batman before or since. Hell, I'm pretty sure he DID kill at least two of Joker's minions on the way up to the church and it's never spoken of by anyone else! Don't waste any more time on this. |
Batman goes on a killing spree in the sequel.
Like, it's crazy how many minions he straight up kills, completely intentionally, in Returns. Aside: I didn't even realize the first Burton Batman film was on Netflix. Also, I think, in hindsight, it's rather clear that Burton just doesn't "Get" Batman, so to speak. I honestly think he took the job because of the color palate he got to use for it. Now I'm curious if Superman 2 (Another 80's comic movie commonly regarded as one of the best) holds up... |
Super Hero Saturday:
Week 1: Man of Steel (2013): http://collider.com/wp-content/uploa...ll-image-4.jpg If you like a movie that had footage shot by what seems to be an inexperienced camera man, and that movie has an overabundance of action, then this is the movie for you. On the bright side.... the acting and the score are good. *weak laugh* I get that this is the origin story, but COME ON!!!! What person decided to scatter all of Kal-El's history all over the place? One second, we are in present day, then all of a sudden, we see Clark as a child, then back to present, then back to child. Just..... *muffled scream* Anyway, I feel that this movie could have been a whole lot better if the story wasn't all over the place and the footage DIDN'T look like it was shot by a high schooler. Superman's character development was great. In fact, most of the characters had great character development. I like the fact that Clark doesn't start working at the Daily Planet until the end of the movie. I like that we don't have a Superman/ Lois romance in this (granted, we will have one in the next movie, but it's better than Frozening it) and..... *gets to the part where Supes and Lois kiss* *eye twitches* Ok.... At least there wasn't an established relationship until close to the end of the movie. I really don't like this movie.... at all.... I just hope that Batman vs. Superman is better. I give this movie 6 Unneeded Explosions out of 10 |

The Rebirth of Mothra - I'm not going to spend too much time on this movie because it just flat out sucked!! The effects was some of the worst (especially the CGI) ever, the plot was crap, the characters were as flat as their acting, but worst of all, the movie was just flat out boring. Nothing even happens until an hour into the movie, making this one of the worst Toho Kaiju movies I have ever seen. It can only go up from here, right? I give it a 3/10.
The Burton Batman is a good movie for its time, but yeah, it doesn't hold up well. It is still better than TDKRises though. Plus, Keaton's bat suit is still by far the best bat suit in live action to date. Never cared for the Superman movies. |
Netflix also added the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film recently.
THIS one is still definitely worth the price of admission. Its well shot, the actors are pretty good, the suits are still amazing and the action scenes work really well. I will say the one thing that comes up short in the film is Shredder. We never get much insight into his motivation behind the Foot Clan crime spree OR what his interest in the mutants is- in particular why he keeps Splinter alive for apparently no reason. I give it an 8/10. And it is impossible to watch and not crave pizza. |
About to watch Big Hero 6!
|
Mothra II - Oh my god. So we have three annoying kids being chased by two adults for a Furby while a Zelda dungeon boss plays lazertag with Mothra. And in the midst of it all is a poor innocent lost level to Donkey Kong Country with every cliche temple gimmick imaginable. Can this movie get any more dumb? Oh yeah, and jesus, Sony can not even stay consistent with their subs in the same movie trilogy as Mona is not Moll. WTF people?! I'm giving this pile of **** a 2/10 stars.

Just finished Earth To Echo. More fun than I thought it'd be.

Song of the South (1946) - One of the very few Disney movies that I never grew up with since Disney never put out a home video release. It been almost 70 years since this movie came out and I think it was a pretty good movie. Some of the acting was bad and there was parts of the movie got boring, but Uncle Remus stole the whole show. I also find some of the other main characters pretty enjoyable too expect for the kids mom and those two bullies. The ending was pretty nice too, so I give it a 7/10.
As for the racism in this movie, I can see why some people would be upset about this movie but I don't think the movie is offense as most people make out to be. It's not the best Disney movie ever made, but I do think it's worth checking out. If they can put out that Donald Duck short of him being a Nazi on DVD then I don't think there is any reason why they can't have this movie out on DVD & Blu-Ray. Interstellar (2014) - It was pretty fantastic. I thought the movie was visually stunning, expertly acted, suspenseful and moving. 8.5/10 |
Big Hero 6 Review-
I love this movie. 10/10 The End, Fin, Whatever. |
Mothra III - Wow, just wow. Either this movie is really good because of how bad the previous two entries were, or it is just really good. The effects were a really big step up from the last two movies, even thought the CGI tentacle porn moments were still pretty bad. Other than that though, the effects were pretty good. King Ghidorah's design here is just down right incredible. I would love to own a MonsterArt of it as his horn are down right badass. On the other hand, I did not like how they just turned him into a Sunday morning Sentai villain. Mothra's main design was fine but hot damn the version of her at the end of the movie was pretty awesome looking. I love the wings on her. The plot itself was average though, but that is still a step up from what I was coming to expect out of these movie, so I'll give it some leeway even if it did rip off the Triforce a bit. I'm wondering if the tail that was sliced off Ghidorah in the past was what spawned DesiGhidorah though. Meh, whatever. THe movie was pretty good and the fairies were not annoying at all (especially Belvedere as I did not want to just strangle her this time). Overall, I give it a 6/10.
|
Armor Mothra is pretty cool, but feels like the form was thrown in the last minute. The form is broken as hell where he kills you in one attack destroying every cell in your body.
|
Isn't the Mothra in the Rebirth films male rather than female?
Really need to get around to watching those films at some point. It's been on my to do list for years. |
Big Hero 6 is a must see.

Big Hero 6 - With all of the disappointing to average animated movies this year, leave it to Disney to give us something that, while predictable, feels fresh and innovative. The movie is just a non-stop roller coaster ride from start to finish as it has a lot of excellent comedy mixed together with a balance of drama and action. There characters are awesome, especially Baymax and Hero, and there is a really kick ass moment that occurs after the villain is first revealed. The animation is excellent and I just loved the mix between San Francisco and Tokyo as it gave the entire city a unique feel to it. Overall, this is a must see movie and make sure you stay through the credits as there is a scene afterwards. I give it an 8/10 stars.
Mothra - This was my first time watching it subbed (I usually watched it raw) and it is still a fantastic movie no matter how you watch it. The story is really well done and Zen is an awesome badass of a character. Unfortunately, the development is not the greatest and it seems like everyone is just there to speak on the behalf of the fairies rather than anything else. Nevertheless, the execution is great and the build up to Mothra's appearance is well done. The movie probably could have been about 10 minutes shorter though, but that is just a minor nitpick. Mothra herself (or himself, since the subs call Mothra a he) looks fine in larva form, but her adult form is incredible and is probably my favorite version of her. The miniatures found here are nothing short of spectacular and the effects nicely done. The only time they look bad is when the soldiers are super imposed to look in scale with the miniatures, but then when you think about what had to be done to make that even possible, you can not help but let that slide. Overall, one of Toho's best non-Godzilla movies and Mothra is easily one of my favorite monsters. I give this movie an 8/10 stars. |
