So since yesterday I'm on a nostalgic Digimon-trip which resulted in me finally watching the complete Japanese version of "Our War Game!". I knew I would like this version better since I saw Omnimon's Japanese transformation sequence a good time ago on YouTube and was blown away by it.
The music is so much better and fitting than the stupid pop-rock they put in the American dub (and thus German, since it was based on the American dub). I still like the German version a lot because I grew up with these voices and saw them in the cinema, but I like the Japanese voices too. I was surprised to find out about the differences in the plot as well. Correct if I'm wrong, but in this version Willis is never mentioned and Diaboromon has nothing to do with Kokomon, right? The more I think about it the more sense it makes to me. This movie was aired in a two-pack with the Adventure 02-Movie in the west, so the western people tried to tie them together by mentioning Willis in "Our War Game!" and giving Diaboromon these weird "Turn back time"-quotes when in the original version he was just a cruel virus-baby that only wanted to eat and play and only communicated via E-Mail. The only other difference I noticed is that Taichi's fight with Sora is a little bit different. In the dub Taichi barfed in Soras hat or something, in the original it's just about Taichi giving her a hair-clip as a birthday present, which makes Sora mad because she thinks Taichi hates her hat. And another thing: The Digimon never scream the names of their attacks in the Japanese version. Is that just something from the movie or do they never do that, even in the show? I don't believe that since this fashion has to come from Japan, but in the movie they never say their attacks, only in the dubs. Either way it was a fantastic experience, I love that movie. The visuals are still really good looking, even the crappy 3D-Models they use sometimes are not too bad. It's also really great to see this movie again after having seen Summer Wars, you really notice where the director wanted to redo his ideas in a more serious (or at least Digimon-free) environment. Think I'll watch "Diaboromons Revenge" next, I have never seen that one, think it was never dubbed in German. I know about Imperialdramon Paladin Mode and stuff, but I've never seen the full movie. |
The throwing up in the hat is mentioned in the dub, but the fight itself is still about the hair clip in both versions.

I haven't seen the Japanese version of Adventure, but the Digimon do scream their attacks out in the series I have seen subbed (Tamers, Frontier, Savers, Xros Wars, and X-Evolution). I think the lack of attack names is just for the movie.

My girlfriend and I picked up Digimon World Dawn and Dusk so we could play together (because she couldn't keep up with my skillz in monster hunter) and it's pretty cool. Maybe not my favorite Digimon World title, but definitely the most polished, because as cool as the older titles were...they were all a bit clunky with their mechanics.
Excited to see where this game goes. |

made by the same guy, and the story is almost the same to a T, but the non-digital stuff going on is way better in Summer Wars than it is in War Game. Summer Wars will make you cry man and feel good about it. |

Especially where Alphamon fits into this. But since this is a movie series he could appear in the very last one for what I know. |

Wow. I am so unenthused about this movie.
For someone who is such a large fan as I, I am surprised how little I actually want to see this. |
Enjoyed the trailer. I've always liked Kuwagamon so I look forward to seeing that fight.

But I'm interested in knowing who are the humans that I didn't recognize and seeing Kuwagamon is great, that's one cool bug. |
I'm more curious about the digital portal/gate and how integral they'll be.

I really can't wait to watch Tri. I do hope Saban tries to get everyone back for the main cast again. Those voices are very nostalgic to me.

If Cyber Sleuth on the PS4 sells well enough in the US then Next Order can be released in the US. I'm surprise Cyber Sleuth is not coming out on the 3DS in the US since the 3DS is more popular then the Vita in the US and kids watching Fusion on Nick Toons most likely have a 3DS then a PS4 or Vita.

i more curious if the new digimon games still do the hole Vpet raising like the old World games from 1-3 cause it bugged me that i never got argumon or guimon digivoling to there tv show forms.
|
I wish the PS1 Digimon games where on PSN. Too bad Namco Bandai never put them on the PS3 PSN store ages ago.

I haven't played a Digimon game in 10 years since Digimon World 4. I thought DW4 kinda sucked since I remember the game being confusing and it was rather boring. I rented it for the PS2 at my local blockbuster back in 2005 and return it back a day later. I remember Digimon World 2 being my favorite Digimon game.
|
Give Digimon World Dawn/Dusk for the DS a shot. I thought they were really fun.
|
I hear it's been out of print for ages and most people sell it for a high price now. The game came out when I stop caring for the franchise. I start feeling nostalgic for the franchise again in 2009.
|
Bummer, that really sucks. That game was actually what brought me back into the franchise after Frontier burned me :lol
|
Season 4 made me stop caring for the series too. By 2002, Yu-Gi-Oh came out in the US and that took over my love for Digimon. In 2005, I saw Digimon World 4 on display and I was like "Oh cool Digimon. I used to love this franchise". I rented it for a day and return it a day later. The GBA fighting Digimon game that I played was a lot of fun though.

Dawn/Dusk are rare games? Guess i lucked out on finding a copy of Dawn back in 2012. Never did finish it, the final boss was freaking hard.
|
Said this a few pages ago, but I just got it. It was like $20 including shipping for just the game.

I want the Digivolving Kabuterimon/MegaKabuterimon, Garurumon/WereGarurumon, Greymon/MetalGreymon and Agumon/WarGreymon.
Too bad they're expensive and rare as fuck. |
I had a Digivolving figure of Paildramon/ExVeemon/Stingmon. It was neat.
|
Oh I remember hunting those down as a kid. I could never find any in stores, mail-services didn’t had a single one left (that was before ordering on the internet was a thing) and I completely gave up on finding one. That was until I visited my grandparents shortly after and they were like: „We have something for you, don't know if you like it but here you go, it's in the kitchen“. I didn’t really knew what to expect and I was still down I couldn’t find the Digimon figures, and then that glorious digivolving Greymon/Metalgreymon sits on the kitchen table. I completely lost my shit back then, it was awesome.
Still have that one somewhere, he's missing his horn but otherwise he's fine. Also, here's the Digimon Tri Poster from the recent trailer: http://i.imgur.com/iHdvZiJ.jpg |
Really want a figuarts Alphamon with all the Tri hype now.

It's really cool. Buuuut...
If they're fighting... Why the hell is Matt sitting on Alphamon's sword handle?! His placement makes zero sense. It's almost like it was done by several artists who didn't communicate and the one who placed the humans just thought "oh it's on the left side they can go wherever." |
I have no problem with this, it's just artwork. Doesn’t need to make sense.
|
is it weird i just changed my lock screen and background to the poster.
