Majestic Price Nine. I'd be glad to know there is more going on than meets the eye but...duh. Still, the plot developments are interesting enough.
I am enjoying the hinted at, and slow burning, romantic feelings growing within Kei (seemingly) for Izuru, lots of shows have everyone falling in love with the protagonist because he is just that awesome or whatever hack writing, but here it feels much more natural and isn't all just conveniently slotting into place. As said before, this show gets people. I just hope that isn't a love triangle they are hinting at. |
Majestic Prince, the show where you can sum up the whole plot with http://matthershberger.com/wp-conten...liens-meme.jpg
Yeah so episode 10 was pretty weak, so much of the explanation for how everything came to be is full of holes, I had more questions by the end of this episode than I started with. It was made up of so many leaps in logic, I'm actually not sure I even understood it truth be told. Plus I dunno, I know it is no different to say...super sentai but it's hard to appreciate the scale of the action in this show when only five pilots are actually important, it makes the action feel more like filler and window dressing than anything else. At least in say...Shingeki, Eren may be the chosen one blahblah but everyone else serves a purpose in the action sequences, even if it is just to die and showcase the horrors of war which makes sense of the scale of their fights. Still, I really like the characters, and I'm hoping once the shitty plot has been established we go back to focusing on the characters like we did in the earlier episodes. Kei is deffo my 2013 waifu, kinda like a tsundere only I don't want to punch her in the face. |
So. Why did no one tell me Netflix had Digimon Adventure? The original japanese, and the American Digimon?
You have kept this from the Nossan! |

After getting into Majestic Prince, I'm hungry for more mecha, and I wanna give Gundam a go but eh...halp? I just looked on the mal page and there is literally a paragraph longer than this summing up all the Gundam stuff, so where the hell do you start?

Right since I'm discovering so many new Gundam series, I've decided to not bother with Wing as I've seen bits and pieces of that already.

Just a word of advisory, this forum is the only place where I've seen SEED praised to this extent. Most everyone I know (Who are all diehard Gundam fans) loathed SEED Destiny and found SEED itself to be only mediocre at best.
Anyway, G Gundam is different from other Gundams in that it's a Super Robot anime, not a Real Robot show. It's much more of a fantasy series in a sci-fi setting. It's offputting to Gundam fans because it stands out by not having the political aspect in the forefront and by being more action based (Not to say there isn't any political aspects to the series, but it's nowhere near as prominent than, say, 0080 or Wing). |
You stay out of this. SEED Destiny is amazing.
So I watched Season one Episode one of Digimon, and now I'm watching E1 S1 of Digimon Adventure... And Adventure is just better. The opening alone makes this worth a watch. I liked Digimon's opening, but.. no :lol Adventure is just better. Like with all things: If they made an american version, watch the Japanese first. Netflix even as it subbed not dubbed! |

SEED Destiny started out great because it had a major focus on the Extendeds. Then they get killed off in the first half and the show becomes Kira vs Athrun 2.0. All of the new characters pretty much took a backseat so the stars of SEED could come back. Add on top that a major character's death from SEED was nulled in a very obvious manner. Of course, it did not help that I saw Destiny while SEED was first airing on CN, so I did not know that character "died" in SEED. The other issue with Destiny is it has about 20 episodes of clip shows. There are like 6 or 7 actual clip shows (I believe some of them are episodes 15, 20, 28, 33, 47) and then sometimes half of an episode feels like a clip show.
BTW, Hawk was a completely useless character. She makes Shunpei in Wizard look important. |

Wing is what most of us in the west first encountered. You have to see the first set of episodes in order to really grasp what its about. It is a good series and my nostalgia sometimes blinds me to it's flaws, such as all the emo guy characters aimed at getting the female audience or the really stupid decisions they make in a few episodes. Occasional annoying characters are sort of a Gundam tradition. If you are going to watch the UC stuff I would suggest starting with "8th MS Team" then "0083 Stardust Memory". They are both short and give you a great framing for that universe. Then go watch the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta if you liked the first two. SEED isn't a bad place to start and at least that way you won't feel like you've seen it all before. The mobile suit designs are some of my favorites. |

If you are going to watch the UC timeline, I'd say stick to the series in timeline order. Do it as the 0079 Movie Trilogy, 08th MS Team, 0083, Zeta, Double Zeta, Char's Convoluted Antics, and Unicorn.
There are others, but they are either down right boring (0080 and Victory) or pointless (F91). As for Wing, I love how people assume you saw it first. NOthing on anyone here, but I had a guy once say, "Well you like Wing the best because it is the first one you saw" even though I had actually seen the Movie Trilogy many months before Wing came to CN. Oh yeah, do NOT waste your time with the Zeta movies. Unlike the original series, the Zeta movies completely screw up the show, character motivations are eliminated, and they royally ****ed up the ending, taking away one of the best Gundam endings ever. G Gundam is pretty much Dragonball Z with mecha. Turn A is like watching a Gundam version of Escaflowne. SEED is pretty much a remake of the original series. Oh, and Age is utter crap. If you want to watch Beydam, more power to you. |
Thanks for all your help everyone! This is way more complicated than I expected it to be... :lol Still right now G-Gundam is the only torrent that is actually downloading, so I guess the client is making the decision for me.

Majestic Prince 11 "Frickin' 3D girls."
This episode took the show back to its roots and was incredibly enjoyable because of it, especially with the way it highlighted just how good each pilot is individually and it still had enough tying into the wider things in play to stop it feeling like complete filler. It's just a shame this series is about as original as a goth is unique. |
My just rewatch the original mobile suit fundamental series I read In manga form how the show were made and how the movies where just a movie length of the original series but the original series I prefer. More the the movies but I did enjoy zeta fundamental as a show and never finished watching double zeta but I did watch chars counter attack but is there any point watching unicorn cause that set in the UC time line
|
I also recommend Gundam Wing as it's the first Gundam series ever released in the USA.

has any one else seen this show cause the opening getting me want to watch it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em6sbICW6iY

I managed to find this guy on Youtube uploading the old "Sony" dub of Rurouni Kenshin or Samurai X as it was called back in the day. The dub is by and far pretty terrible, some of the characters were misnamed (Kaoru was referred to as Kory, Yahiko is called Yoshi) but the voices for some of the characters (Kenshin, Sano, Saitou and Shishio in particular) were well casted.
Some of the lines were clearly added in but there were some very cool nuggets of dialogue. For example Shishio's famous last (English) words: "The will is only as strong as the person within whom it abides. You are strong Battousai but you're not the strongest. As you are about to find out the strongest is ME!!! I knew you'd make a fine meal Kenshin! The time has come to eat!!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVfy2Sxh2ew This was the dub I grew up on, this was my first major anime fixation. Finding almost every episode dubbed online was a great trip down memory lane. And as I eagerly await in vain for the whole series to be released on a subbed Blu-Ray volume (hopefully to include this particular dub), I'll happily keep watching this channel. |
