In Gokaiger, the original users of the powers could just take the keys back. That's clearly not the case in Zi-O though, since most characters are carrying these Watches for years and yet didn't get their powers and memories back. So, I wonder what will be the explanation.

Reversing the powers is a given, but not for defeating "Another Rider" versions of themselves. As currently, that's not possible. If time travel is all it took, it'd create a plot hole too of the potential of going back, grabbing the pre-another rider Rider, and having them defeat the monster. Which would make the rest of the show too many questions and plot holes.

Like we saw with Build, the original rider only gets their memories back if the another rider is knocked back to human/the another watch is temp deactivated. Once the monster comes back, the memories disappear again. For an Another Rider to be permanently defeated, it has to be the same powers fighting against it, but the original rider powers are erased when the another rider is active, and stays erased once the Ride Watch comes into existence.

So not likely W or Den-O will defeat their own Another Riders. Not possible tbh. Short of them murdering the human form. Though den-o is a curious one, because we don't know how the Ride Watch or Another Rider impacts Imagins. Like I said, only Kabuto raises questions on that because of "Clock up" and how that could potentially slow the rider power degradation before it's gone.

Build on the other hand can get his memories back if the Build Ride watch is broken, or whatever other story device they choose to use. But Build is also ep 1 and 2, so for the movie he would be the earliest they'd want to hint at trying to find a way to restore. So they may find a way to release the watch in some way, like how the Doctor has a pocket watch that maintains his essence when he wants to appear human and loses all his memories too.

We also have other details coming up potentially, like how some Gashats might still be active as hinted at recently.

But the main premise is still intact. An Another Rider can only be defeated by the same rider power, and the rider ceases to exist when the another rider exists. Then continues to cease to exist because of the Ride Armor. Until that's changed somehow, those are the current universe rules. Which means we will see Den-O and W armor times, and will carry over to series. But they will probably start laying the ground work on how to "release the watch" like how the Doctor gets his memories and Timelord physiology restored when he uses the pocket watch.

So likely, Build getting restored has to do with that since his "another rider" is already defeated and gone. Which is the only thing that would "re-erase him." And likely, whatever the release method is, is temporary or by proximity. So if they use the "ride watch" method, it may only be active for a certain length of time as yet.

That's entirely different than a currently existing "Another Rider". Like Build, this movie takes place in continuity, so whatever story revelations they make will carryover to the series too, or help contribute to the wider narrative. But it's far too early to start a mass "ride watch release" as yet. So we will only see small usages of that for now, and potentially only temporary ones to help build the drama. We'll only be at the half way point of Q2 by the time the movie hits. Major dramatic elements that build to the finale and future movies won't be until mid or late Q3. Right now is universe building time and explaining the world rules as well as elaborating on them. Rewriting the rules is a late Q3 thing normally. Which with the home media release of the movie near the Q3 end, seems likely they'll do the call back then. Like how Build started referencing his movie after it was released on Home Media. But they'll also want to tease the forms in the tv series with a "go see the movie if you want to know where it came from!" type marketing. But overt movie references outside of that likely won't be until much later in the series. Soft allusions for now, heavy references when nearing home media release.

Also for the movie, we have to factor in both Geiz and Zi-O will likely get new armor times, while Zi-O may get more than one. Which means we will likely see up to potentially 3 maybe that'll carry over to the series. At least one for Geiz, and maybe 2 for Zi-O. Possibly more for both. But those are the minimum numbers. Considering an Another Rider means new "Armor time" or new "ride watch", we now know what at least two of those will be.

Though I do think it'd be funny to pull a "Wizard of Oz"/"Dorothy's house" with the den-liner on the Another Rider, I don't see that as likely. Plus it'd likely only be temp anyway if they did. Seeing Momotaros fight with Futaros would be interesting too. But that doesn't mean Den-O won't be erased. As far as we know, Momotaros may exist again once the Ride Watch does.

We also do know that Geiz and Zi-O get power up forms sometime in Q2, likely mid to late. So the movie could also contribute to a form of dependency on that instead, though I doubt they'd ditch the main show gimmick when they have so many toys still to sell and get created. But the new power up suits do raise questions on what do they do based on the current rules of how "Another Riders" work. Or they could be more directly tied to fighting Time Jackers directly or Woz's rider forms.

Comparing it to the Doctor Who Pocket Watch. I'm guessing it might lean into something about them using an activated ride watch, and it only working for a set amount of time. Or potentially Sougo/Geiz have the ability to implant the ride watch into the original rider, like how the time jackers put the another watch in the another riders. That would be within current universe rules, and the Ride Watch does contain personality data as we see with each ride armor appearance.

Though another thing to keep in mind is how the Decade ride watch may work too. Presumably, it lets a ride watch become the rider directly instead of an armor, at least if it mimics Decade's power.

...Why does is Zi-O's eyes yellow with kiva? Like.. why? It's pink for everything else. So why yellow for kiva? I guess if it was for Geiz it would look to much like kiva but still!

Another thing on the Ride Watches:

Double pressing the top bottom has a secondary set of sounds. That might be how it temp restores a rider.

Very few have had 'activated ride watches', and the ones that did it was implied they didn't press the top button, let alone double press it. And it'd make sense that Oma Zi-O or future King Zi-O may need a rider's input or counsel, so having a ride watch able to draw on their experiences and knowledge would make sense as well as fits into that Doctor Who pocket watch type reference.

The show mechanic and rules are so loose and sometimes contradict each other. It's a bad mesh or rehash between gokaiger and decade with a lot of retcon even the net movieish .5 side episode poke fun of the scripts bts. Anyway, next week Ooo is back, which is a surprise, but hope there will be ankh even if via voice over since you can do joker without Phillip, but it's not the same even if this hino and hina are different version after the memory wipe. I'm hoping for more plot on the original of the watches of geiz and just in general as well as the future of the time jackers and woz. Pew it's just making me question and mad if they let stuffs like faiz phone pass again. They need to change up the formula. I was expecting more from beast, but it was a lame cameo. So far 7 ride watches down, 1 next week, at least 2 in the movies, which leaves 9. There are rumors about decade and ghost returning, so it'll be 11. I think we'll see maybe another 2-3 tributes and the rest will be obtain via offscreen of other means. Time skip idk

Maybe it's for Geiz and they mess up. Idk. Maybe some are stronger than the others for some reason like the 15 eyecons. Soon after the movie war and Christmas mid season upgrade, we will be moving away from the ride watches In the next quarter. Gwah, I wish the old future riders from shows and movies are canon.

But in the show they figured out that the weakness of the Another Riders is the original Rider's power by seeing Ex-Aid's attacks work better on Another Ex-Aid than their own attacks. If Ex-Aid had been there earlier he might have been able to last long enough to beat Another Ex-Aid. For a movie, a fighting scene with the group of Riders vs Another Riders also seems like an obvious idea and I'll be surprised if it doesn't happen.

A Den-O armor wasn't in the debut list though, which is what makes me doubtful. Not to mention that the Den-O Watch is already out. I can't see them going back and making a new movie form for old toys.

The issue is that toyline-wise the Ride Armors are completely done by the end of December. Q2 has the Final Form Ride Watches, but those don't even have armor designs and focus mostly on Riders that already appeared in Q1 (the W->Build group). It'll be really unusual if Zi-O continues focusing on them after the toyline moved on.

The toyguide shows how it works. Using Build + Decade for example turns into the Build Sparkling suit, but with the Decade Armor's chest and helmet (but with a Build face plate replacing Decade's on the helmet).

Decade is another exception, although that one makes a little more sense, as "pink text against pink background" wouldn't read very well.

I'm more baffled by Kiva apparently not being a Geiz watch, since the angular eyes and color would better match. I suppose it'll depend on how the armor works.

Incidentally, I was super-annoyed when I figured out that it's not remotely random or story-based whether a Ride Watch can be shared by Zi-O and Geiz. So far as I can tell, it's 100% based on whether the RKF Ride Armor is designed to be reversible the way Build, Ghost, and Ex-Aid are, featuring masks for both characters. I'd love to be proven wrong by, say, Geiz using the OOO or Fourze armor, but I kinda doubt it.

Technically it would be possible for Geiz to use them if the toys for the OOO and Fourze armors still come with alternate face plates.

All the toy-only Ride Armors seem to be marketed with Zi-O. They could easily be reversible if they got actual figures in the armor line though since they have no other gimmicks like the Build/Ex-Aid/Ghost armors, but so far although some have gotten figures announced none of them are part of the main gimmick line, so they don't have removable armor.

Another Ghost basically confirms this is for the tv show, not the movie, which already seemed very likely from before.

Ghost and Decade shared tribute maybe? The initial timeline had Zi-O Ghost in October but it also had Geiz Wizard in November so changes have been made. Though if W just gets the film instead, that does leave all of December open.

Sorta. The thing with the reversible armors is that the faceplate isn't the only part that's different. So Zi-O's Ride Armor is silver and Geiz's Ride Armor is black. The OOO or Fourze armor could have included alternate face plates, but it'd still be the same suit colors with a different face, which is not the aesthetic they've been going for regarding the Ride Armor. OOO and Fourze also defy the color schemes shared among the reversible armor. Not surprisingly, they're also way more interesting.

It looks like the SO-DO line isn't going to (at least initially) produce Geiz or Zi-O specific versions of the armor for the ones they don't share. Kind of surprising, since that's usually the kind of thing the SO-DO line does.

I could see them making So-Do versions of the armour for the other Rider if they have space to fill in a series.

I'll be surprised if that's real. It seems odd they'd make a Mach armor when they didn't even bother with including his name in the belt, skipping all Ex-Aid and Build secondaries that do have their names there (Well, aside from Genm, who is getting his armor in the tv show).

Like I said above, I think it's false considering how Mach's name isn't even listed in the driver. In addition to that, like I saw pointed out elsewhere, the name on the Driver should be red not white since his Ridewatch reuses the Drive display.
