Gotta say I'm insanely curious how Saikou's transformation will actually work! He's gonna be using a sword to turn into... the sword? Like, kaigouken saikou very much Exists before Yuri's transformed with it.
I at first figured his body would morph into a sword like Saber with King of Arthur, but then where would the version he's holding go... my current guess is that in-show the open ridebook will have blank pages, and Yuri will shrink down and become that little saikou torso while the sword just sorta floats in the air for a bit? It will make more sense with the Shadow but I got the impression that's an ability he can choose to use, not the default configuration, given that Touma also seemingly wields Saikou.

On another note I do have to give props for the very smart re-use (I guess slight re-tool?) of Calibur's buckle!

We already got this month's scans. So, the next ones are most likely next month or February, showcasing Saikou's upgrade and/or Saber and Blades' and maybe a teaser at the next rider.

Also, it's not an "if" things in Saber are gonna get better. That's pretty much up to you.

I don't really understand what you're getting at. Saber isn't objectively bad nor is it in a position where it needs to get better. The show is what you make of it; spoiling you with more scans of the second quarter isn't going to change that.

how are scans going to make a show better? an image isn't going to change someones opinion of something dude. If you seriously think something like that is going to change your opinion on a show then maybe you should rethink how you evaluate shows entirely.

New years prediction: Tassel will use the Kurayami and become Calibur

That would be amazing. A friend and I joked about how the series' big twist would be that Tassel is a metaphysical god-like being who turns out to be the real villain of the series.
On the real, though, I wonder if they'll introduce a new Calibur anytime soon. Or Espada. I find the fact that Kento is still in the opening highly suspect...

I'd rather see Tassel as a one-off rider for a movie or V-Cinema. Have him use a "Alice Of Wonderland" WRB.

Seeing as the smoke that took Sophia is the same that took Kurayami, we can expect Kento return as Calibur or maybe even a fusion of Cailbur and Espada and most likely become a brief enemy for Touma.

That would be quite fitting for him.

I wonder what the sword would look like, and I can already imagine 2 finishers that involve size changing. One where the sword becomes giant as he swings it, and one where he shrinks himself and gives the monster a death by a thousand cuts at superspeed.

Once thought of this easy upgrade for Kenzan, Slash, and Buster. Basically just a sort of black and grey suit that is shared for the three riders and then with only small differences to signify each rider. Like a different helmet and/or shoulder pads. Just to recognize them as enemies to Touma's goal and then return to their colorful forms after they reject the Southern Base.

I wouldn't mind Kenzan getting at least a new normal Wonder Ride Book. Perhaps a Tsuchinoko-themed book to armor up his right arm and boost his speed.

That makes sense, but it also brings up a question.

Giving Kenzan a Mythical Creatures book would mean he would only need an Animal book to make a Wonder Combo, but he already has two Story books, so which one would he use in the combo? Ninja or Three Little Pigs? If he just uses his main book (Ninja) then what's Three Little Pigs for? Slash would be in the same situation.

One could say that their "main form" books are meant to go with their personal swords, and that a hypothetical Wonder Combo for their elements would use their "secondary" books, but that could mean Buster (and maybe Calibur) would need a second Mythical Creature book.

Or I could be overthinking this and taking it way out of proportion. Who knows, really?

Unless that serpent I spotted in the Gekido-themed Wonder Ride Book (there's one for each sword, with the sword name in the title) is meant to be a second head for the turtle, Buster may very well get a second God Beast Wonder Ride Book

It's honestly hard to say what would happen, because the WRBs are just really of weird in terms of gimmick items. Based what we can infer from the show so far:

• There are 3 kinds of WRB.
  -But you only need one to transform.
• Legendary Creature books affect your right arm, Living Beasts affect your torso, Grand Stories affect your left arm.
  -Except for when you're Kenzan and Slash, in that case your story book affects your entire body, and you get to use another story book to change your left arm.
• Some times one book is closely tied to a SeiKen (i.e Gekido to Genbu, Suzune to Hansel and Gretel, Hayate to Sarutobi)
  -Other times an entire Wonder Combo is dedicated to a sword (Crimson Dragon, Fantastic Lion, Golden Alangina).
• Meanwhile there are some books don't have an element attached to them (Tortoise and the Hare, Momotaro, Princess Kaguya).
  -But then some books technically have no element but very obviously pair with other books with elements (Jakkun, Bremen no Rock Band, 3 Pigs).

Personally speaking, I feel like they (Toei) could've mitigated the issue by imposing Saber's vertical OOOs design gimmick on all the suits in the begining. Like, pretend Buster, Slash, and Kenzan all initially had suits designed like Calibur. Where despite only using one book, he still has Right, Middle, and Left sections on his suit even though he's never gonna use them:

And then they could've bust out the actual suits we got for Kenzan, Buster, and Slash as upgrades like when Calibur obtains Ja-Ou Dragon. That way, they could establish this idea that all the power up books make the entire suit design based on one book.

But that huge tangent aside, yes the vine growing out of the Jackkun arm would essentially be a nod to how Genbu has a Serpent for a tail. But if the toy designers wanted to get super literal and actually give Buster another Divine Beast WRB... I suppose, maybe the Jörmungandr/The Midgard Serpent?

I agree that there's a bunch of things about the way the WRB are used that could be way better. Not to mention with the way it's set up, it really gives you (At least me, not sure about everyone else) less of an incentive to collect them. The fact that only Saber ever utilizes the gimmick also makes it way less fun. And not to mention the disproportionate distribution; 90% of the WRB so far are story books.
Although I don't really see there being introduced anymore Wonder Combos introduced, perhaps unless they release some SworDriver repaint/remold with three slots. But who knows, maybe there will be a Wonder Combo for the three other Riders.

I'd totally be down for a WRB based on the Midgard Serpent. My goal for Saber was to collect Kento's stuff (Which was easy) and anything relating to my home country, and a book like that is right up my alley.

I'd bet that Kenzan, Buster, and Slash will get new upgrades in the form of an adapter; something like the Gashat Gear Dual Beta from Ex-Aid. Maybe a bigass Wonder Ride Book that cycles through 3 stories.
I don't see how else they could really pull it off. There's no way any of them are replacing their Seiken, and I honestly cannot see them releasing 3 separate transformation trinkets, though that isn't entirely out of the question at all. My big question is how the RKF would work, if they go that route.
Either way, I'm really excited for whatever those 3 get, because I know they have to be good. The one hope I have is that they keep the majority of their suits(like Jaoh Dragon did). Kenzan, Slash, and Buster's designs are WAY too incredible to be completely overhauled. Surely, they knew this when they had Calibur upgrade from Jaaku Dragon to Jaoh Dragon. I hope this will be a pattern not just for Saber, but for future suits and designs in general. I really do think it was a genius move by them.

Yeah Kenzan, Buster, and Slash Seikens all have extra space around the Wonder Ride Book slot.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they didn't get upgrades. Especially Buster. He's an older member thats been with Logos for a long time. It would be weird to suddenly get a new form after all this time. And Slash is like supposed to be retired or something.

Not as toys they don’t.

It could be interesting if somehow their combined power would get them a sharable external upgrade item that only one of them can use at a time, or if their combined power unlocked a new, bigger WRB like Blades' books did.

Hi there! Long time lurker — but I’ve seen a lot of people theorize upgrades for Buster, Kenzan, and Slash based on the extra space around their book slots in the show, and wanted to clear up what seems to be a frequent misunderstanding.

Here are photos of my DX versions of Buster’s Gekidou, Kenzan’s Hayate, and Slash’s Suzune. As you can see, the toy versions don’t have the extra space seen in the show — that’s only done for the show props so the swords can be sized up more.

If I had to guess, if Buster/Kenzan/Slash do get upgrades, I'd imagine we'll either see

• a new belt for the three of them that doesn't have a function other than opening books without making noises ( like the CaliburDriver and it's repaint for the base of the SaikouDriver )

• a regular-sized, thick book that will fit into the three swords ( similar to Saikou's book) that store all the upgrade noises in the books (like how Jaou Dragon, Dragonic Knight, or King Lion DaiSenki work)

• OR a book like the Snipe/Brave Dual Gashat from Ex-Aid, with different modes to activate between the three Riders.

But yeah, the three blades don't have much function like the Seiken Swordriver does, so if the three of them ever do get a shared upgrade, I have to imagine the swords will play a secondary part in the deciding factors -- but they might also get designated Gridon/Bravo status and only keep their base suit all show long while Saber/Blades/Espada or Calibur get upgrades -- I'm curious to see what happens with Ikazuchi & Kurayami now that their current wielders are taken off the board, I highly highly doubt that's the last we've seen of either sword.

It's an interesting case because to my knowledge I don't know of any Kamen Rider weapons so oddly designed in an effort to keep parity with the toys.

Im fact I'm a little beguiled that the Plex team at Bandai couldn't find a more elegant design solution. A part of me hopes they use that empty space in the show to justify the design even if the toy equivalent isn't a matching fit.

Have we ever had a collectible gimmick itself be out of scale with the show item?

It's definitely a very weird case! I think it's ultimately because their transformation items are the weapons, actually. In many cases the pre-transformation belt and the stunt-suit belt are different in scale (and sometimes shape!) - this is only super noticeable with things like lockseeds, but because a transformed suit is bulky and moving quickly we don't really pick up on it much. To have the weapons suddenly change size though would be super obvious and kinda jarring - though to be fair they get away with it with the Swordriver.

In a weird way I think the chain of events was:
design weapon -> scale down and translate to toy design -> scale back UP to create accurate show props
Hayate especially for example I don't think was originally "meant" to have such a large block for the ridebook, but it was kept to avoid having hugely inaccurate toys. I guess some market research indicated accuracy as a big selling point! That's straying pretty far into speculation on my part though haha

Tbh I find the whole toy vs show-prop thing really interesting, especially when (such as in the recent Bravo/Gridon special) the actors end up using toys or toy-sized props in the show itself!

alright guys place your bets how long before Yuri/Reika I think betray Touma (Or Yuri's the traitor Daichi found out about) and how Kento comes back inb4 Touma is about to win but Yuri reveals a new ally none other than Kento

It feels pretty obvious Reika is the traitor. She said Touma would betray the guild after he refused to join Southern Base. Seems like an obvious tell that she is a villain. Yuri being the traitor is kinda impossible since he is not a part of the organization of the Sword of Logos. And besides this is a kids show some mysteries are bound to be obvious to adults and on purpose for kids probably with the purpose of making those kids feel smart.

Reika is obviously being set up as the traitor. There's no chance for Yuri to become one since he's also being set up as Touma's ally. Though, I suspect Yuri might get injured, defeated, or temporarily corrupted since Reika needs the Kurayami and Saikou for some reaosn.

Anyway, what are the possibilities that Saber might get delayed? What with the restrictions being put in place in Japan and all. I heard something about Sentai or something filming somewhere else like their Kyoto branch, and I'd like to believe Saber will do the same.

They’ve said that the order won’t affect “stages or theatres”, so I think they’re fine.

Setsubun event at Eigamura I assume. Cause only during Setsubun will you find Japanese folks pelt soybeans to ward off evil spirits, mostly oni. Would be funny if it was all the Takeshi onis against Momotaros as they pelt soybeans at him while the other Taros watch from afar sipping coffee. :lolol

They finally get Momotaros to run away and ask where the other one is, and Urataros says as close as he can get to "Guess what fuckers, there's three!" while remaining in character.

They basically picked my favorite Rider to do a Manga about out of the three Non-Swordriver users.

Makes sense too that is if they deal with his past cause they could probably dive more into his backstory such as when he was a more younger and inexperienced fencer looking up to Hayato and Daichi as older brother figures while pestering Tetsuo, etc.
