I figured Toku Taku might since they offered Bujin Gaim. I hoped I could pre-order one to avoid the initial post-release price hike and I'm not patient enough to wait it out. :lol

Thanks! I've heard of them, but never used them. I know it's silly to worrying about pre-ordering one when there are usually leftovers that go up for sale, but I just want to know I have a lock on one in case the mad rush for Gaim figures (Ryugen excluded, it seems) makes people crazy. :D

I've used them before a few times and not had any problems, if that helps. I've got my Bujin Gaim preordered through them as well.

The magma piece is also a show exclusive, Toku Taku has some available. I was gonna get some but thought I'd just get the normal sets and paint them myself since it looks kinda easy to do haha

As for you getting them:
I think Growing Form Kuuga has been pretty inexpensive for a while, despite being an exclusive.

Scissors, is also an exclusive, but fairly recently, so I think it's not too bad, but I would go for this one sooner, rather than later.

Dark Kiva has been pretty rare for a while. Seems like it goes for $80-ish on Mandarake, so he's also a bit more expensive.

Most of the others shouldn't be too difficult to get. Several of them are $20-$30 on Mandarake. Punch Hopper might be more I don't remember if that's the one that was reissued in the last couple of years, so it might run you a bit more. Blade is pretty in demand, but you shouldn't have to pay much more than $40, if you're patient.

Thanks for that. I found out the hard way about Dark Kiva (the price listings still scare me). Though I'm so obsessive & orderly that I felt no other collection method would work with me. XD I really don't wanna have those giant shelves & display rooms stocked to the edge with numerous expensive figures, just some I can be happy with. Just curious, but what ways do you guys decide on what figures you're collecting? And why?

I try to limit myself to only getting figures of characters or designs I like. In some cases that works well. In others, not so much.

It quickly became apparent once I started watching Kamen Rider shows/buying Figuarts, that the threshold is very low for me to like a design or character.

So I'm pretty much collecting every Figuart from Kamen Rider Kuuga through Gaim. And I've already got a pretty large percentage of them.

Gills and Another Agito I'm pretty iffy on, at least until I watch Agito, at which time I assume I'll come to like them, but we'll see.
Hibiki is also iffy. I'm getting Hibiki so I have every main Rider, but beyond that, I'll have to see how the designs grab me as they are released, or until I watch the show.

I like having them displayed grouped by show, so you can see the common design elements within a show. Having each show on a shelf of a bookcase, you can then see the similarities/progressions of the designs between the different shows.

With other properties I'm not quite as big a fan of as I am Kamen Rider/Figuarts, I do better at limiting my tastes, only getting designs or characters I really like. But it can be hard work sometimes, to limit myself.

I normally just get my favorite characters because I like them for multiple reasons and when I look at the figure I can remember everything I relate to, and like about the character.

Well I have some that I haven't seen yet or only movie appearances or only in the Manga. Still when you get some in a big group you don't say no.

Well, I'm a completionist, so I want every rider and ranger and all of their forms.

However, I just don't have the money and space to do that right now, and since Bandai has dropped the ball on the ranger teams, I've come to the decision to only do Sentai teams that are either 100% complete from this moment forward or the members that are within my top 10 favorite series.

For riders, from now on, I'm going to go back to main forms and ultimate forms with a few exceptions depending on how much I like the series. I am not going to go overboard again like I did with Wizard only to end up being vastly disappointed with the show in the end.

Oh, but I won't touch movie riders except in special cases like Ryuki, and that is because I do want all 13 riders.

I decide what I buy on a few factors.

• Do I like the character?
• Do I like the show the character and suit is from?
• If I haven't seen the show or know the character, do I plan on seeing the show at some point?

For the most part I focus on the character and show ones because I only really want to buy the figure if I like what I just mentioned. If I'm considering buying the thing I'm obviously a fan of the suit, but that for me doesn't justify spending the $30+ for the figure. If I'm going to buy it I need to like the character or the show, and if I like both, then the purchase is a no brainer. As for the last one, why would I buy something that if I haven't seen the source material from yet that I don't plan on watching?

I don't want everything and I don't need everything. Get what I like, it's as simple as that.

Hmmm...good question. It depends. I'm a huge Ryuki fanboy, so I pretty much get (and almost have) every Ryuki figuart on principle. Same, more or less, goes for Gaim, except I'm not going to bother buying alternate forms for each character.

There were some figuarts I've bought just because their designs were overwhelmingly cool, like Dark Kiva, and I only watched 3 episodes of Kiva. Same goes for Skull, though I decided to bite on him when I saw him for an amazing price. Both are figures I've wanted since I started collecting figuarts, without even knowing anything about the characters.

For the rest it's a combination of really liking the designs (which is the case with pretty much every Rider) and wanting to complete Rider lineups. Then there are some moments in a show where a character looks or does something so awesome that I instantly want their figure.

All in all, I kinda just go with how I'm feeling at the time. There are some days where, if I'll have the money, I'll jump the gun on a figure that I feel like getting.

I'd say, in order, it goes character representation, design, and being an obsessive completist for me :lol

Well, in short, I'm a mixed bag. Like Kain & Green I get what appeals to me. I also want to be a semi completist. But also like Kain, right now I can't due to money woes. I say, get what you like. Want to be a completist? Go for it! Just want to dabble? Even better! Fourze is new to me, and I only watch clips for now, but looked at him, did some "research", and ended up liking him a lot. Again, money woes have limited me to Cosmic States, but I look forward to getting his whole crew & forms. When talking about team, Sentai, that gets a bit hairy. If you're like me, you might like a certain suit design, so you go for one character, but then want the whole group. Only team I have completed is the obvious MMPRs. But like some, I've dipped my toes is with the few Reds I have.
Anyway, go nuts.

Good question. This is a figuart form so I won't go too in detail with my other brand decisions but for things like Figuarts and SIC's I chose figure series I really want to collect all of them and then limit myself to those. Like a complete sentai team, or just getting all the red sentai figuarts.

I don't collect Kamen Rider Figuarts unless they are either from Gaim, Blade, or the three movie riders. Because I want all the riders instead of just one or two Medicom figures. Which is how I actualy collect most of my Kamen Riders.

I buy figures of characters that I like from the show, I see no logic of buying a character that you hate, dislike, or have no attachment too. I guess it's fairly understandable if your completion type of person but I don't see any reason to do such thing.

The only figuarts I would buy without have any knowledge or attachment too would be Kiva because his design is seriously awesome. That is if they do make him.

For the longest time I was a completionist but I'm so glad I cut that habit because I was starting to buy figures I rarely cared about.

Now I've made it an absolute thing that I only buy figures that I really really like. However because I absolutely love Gaim that has...kinda backfired because I'm only skipping on like a few figures out of a shit ton.

Yeah, I kind of regret having all of the pointless forms of W right now. I kind of want to sell them, but I like the accessories they came with.

I'm the same as a lot of other people in that I just go for characters and suits I like. There is some leeway for me, in that a good character can make me go for a meh suit (not big on the look of the Birth suit but damn do I love Date and Gotou, so much I might even double dip and get Proto Birth in a moment of weakness) or a great suit can convince me to pick up a character I dislike (hence having a Kaixa). The only exception is when a figure I wouldn't otherwise get would fill in a complete set. I do love having complete sets.

Usually it's a combiantion of fnding good deals and focusing on characters I like, I buy most of my stuff on sale.

My methodology is similar to how I approach Transformers (though without the nostalgia factor for certain characters, since still only a bit familiar with the actual shows): Very much focused on whether the aesthetics of the suit design appeal to me or not. By extension, same goes for the bikes and other stuff.

I do tend to go back and, after initially dismissing certain characters/suits, rethink them and decide I like them after all.

That said, toku-wise, my interests are geared almost entirely towards Riders rather than Sentai. I do like some Sentai suits (the Boukengers, Red & Blue Buster, Ryu Ranger, plus stuff like Gosei Knight & Delu Knight) but generally they don't appeal to me as much as the variety of Rider suits out there.

I own the SIC Kiva & Dark Kiva and it's such a great looking accessory. I keep waiting for a SHF Kiva announcement with the hope it'll be included with him, since SHF Dark Kiva came without.

I collect the riders that I like and the main forms that I like. I only bought Decade to complete my main Rider collection.

Thought that I'd look over my list for some changes on it & found a cheaper & better deal . Also added a couple Rider-like figures for Showa representation.

Usually loss of interest, or in some cases, finding out a figure is worth far more than I paid for it, will sometimes prompt me to sell it.

Abyss is a solid choice for blue and Ryuki, but Scissors is a better choice for orange than Gaoh. I have both, and I've not gotten around to opening Gaoh, had it for nearly a year. :o

That's actually something else I wanna know: what makes you wanna keep some figures in/out of package? I know some do for the sake of reselling it, but after talking to a few local collectors I found many like to have them out. What do you guys think about it?

I take out all my figures, and for most toys (not Figuarts, though) I throw the package away. I guess in this case, I'm less a collector, and more an ... enthusiast? I dunno. :lol

So it's all about the playability, the posing, the fun. But that's also why my toy shelves are an incoherent mess. :lol

Anything I buy, I want it out of the package. I'm not a MISB collector. The only reason some stuff says in-package longer than they used to is I have a lot of crowded shelves now so I have to plan when I'm going to open it & rearrange a designated shelf.

Not necessarily loss of interest, but that is a factor. For Sentai figuarts, unless I'm particularly attached to a design, I'll usually skip the whole team unless there's a green. Then I get that. With the team dynamic, it's either one, all, or nothing.

I don't think I've gotten rid of many Rider figuarts. The only one I can think of is Burning Agito. Part of that I think was that I haven't seen the show. Though he's a really cool design, I didn't "need" it.

I collect on more of a "need" basis now. And it's really subjective and a fine line between strong want and "need".

The only time I keep stuff in package is if it's some kind of windowed box and a figure with no articulation. If it doesn't do anything, I'll leave it. Pop! Vinyls for example.

Does anyone have a comparison picture between Renewal Kabuto and any of the old Kabuto figuarts that isn't Kabuto himself? I'm wondering how, say, TheBee or Sasword stacks up next to the Renewal version. Obviously the new sculpt is much better than the old sculpt regardless of the figure, but a lot of why the difference between the two was so noticeable, for me at least, was seeing the differences between how the various character specific design elements of the Kabuto suit were treated.

Just don't want to display Renewal Kabuto next to the Sasword I already have and make it look odd.
