Yeah, that is really stupid. Maybe in the movies it could work, but Captain America has been through so much that this revelation makes no sense.

Reminds me of the end of episode 1 of The Man in the High castle. Where the main character who escapes the Nazis is revealed to actually be working for them.

IMO Everyone is just overreacting. Its just a way to provoke fans and get them talking about the issue as well as an attempt to keep people past issue 1. While I totally believe it's just the Red Skull fucking with his memories using Xavier's brain, a friend of mine pointed out it shits all over what the original Jewish creators intended for Cap, by basically making him think he's an original Nazi (he's from 1940, calling him a Neo-Nazi would be a bit weird).

There's a difference between Snyder choosing the have Clark kill Zod quicker than he did in the comics or in the original Superman II film, and literally having Cap seen to have been a sleeper agent for his supposed enemies all along.

It would be Snydering Captain America is Snyder made Superman Lex's long lost space brother and he deliberately attacked Gotham and Metropolis, instead of destruction just being caused because he happens to be fighting there.
